Comfort and entry can be a bit of a challenge if you are 6 feet tall or taller. I traded this car for a new (ordered) 2018 BMW 540i. I got a fantastic trade in value. The new car is even better.

Steering is a little too sensitive and the run flat tires are a bad idea. Tires can be replaced. Steering you just have to adjust to. Otherwise, this is a great car!

Big Question Mark on BMW quality and services

1.5 years after purchase, my transmission gone bad and the dealer replaced it. The dealer replaced a couple of spark plugs in 2~3 years. The dealer didn't tell me about the replacement of spark plugs. Soon after the factory warranty expired, the intake valve was loose and the dealer needed to re-tighten it. Even well before the warranty expiration, the problem (jerking and shaking) associated with the loose intake valve started. Another BMW? No way!!! Buy American or Korean.

BEWARE: Engine Malfunctions Rampant

Just purchased a 2014 328i with the 4 cyl turbo. After 5000 miles, engine malfunction comes up on the display. After some research, looks like this is a common issue with these newer f30 3series. Usually a transmission failure or VANOS failure. [HTML removed]

There is nothing outstanding about this car. It is very functional. It starts, stops, and turns when needed. Handling, and power are adequate. It is better than a Buick. The best feature is a heated steering wheel.

Everything I Ever Wanted in a Car, and More!

*Note: This review is for the diesel 328d model, despite the limitations of the website showing it as a 328i - the diesel engine plays heavily into my satisfaction with this car* This 2L diesel AWD wagon is perfectly suited to my active lifestyle in the Pacific Northwest. If I drive conservatively, I can exceed 600 miles on a single tank of fuel. If I drive aggressively, I can out-accelerate most other cars on the road. I've comfortably sustained 130mph with virtually no road noise and rock solid maneuvering while cruising the autobahns of Germany, where diesel wagons are as common as SUVs are here. In winter with a good set of snow tires, I have easily traveled over icy mountain passes and conquered unplowed roads with up to half a foot of sticky wet Washington snow. The rear compartment in the wagon is big enough for all the gear I've ever needed to haul and the roof rails make adding a roofbox on-the-fly easy allowing me to carry gear for four. I've also hauled a canoe, a couple of ocean kayaks, surfboards, and bicycles - on separate occasions - all the while averaging 30+ mpg and never facing a hill I couldn't drive at the posted speed limit. All of this with ample comfort, thoughtful features, and style that makes this car equally suited for valet parking at the opera as it is for the outdoors. For over six years, this car has helped me live the life I want better than any other I've ever driven.

Tatteres fuel cap line crumbled within a year. Fuel port release mechanism had to be replaced. Cabins rubber seal (drv side) worn thin in a year. Engine oil sensor replaced within a year. However, these were covered under the original warranty. At eight years old, I still get 30 MPG combined! Update: 9 years old and 147,000miles Following repair, replace and countless trips to the dealership in past 11 months. The rain channel backed up and it's repair, new battery, replaced turbo, sunroof leak and it's repair, mold due to delayed sunroof repair (3 weeks at the dealership parking lot) and mold mediation on a rear seat, replacing a windshields washer pump and wiring, remote transmitter receiver replaced, the passenger door actuator replaced, and replaced one key fob. Comfort access is unreliable and either is starting the vehicle while sitting in the driver's seat. 10 years of ownership: This is a unfortunate gift keeps on giving. I can't seem to recover from previous sunroof leak. The sliding sunroof lining is drooping which is limiting the 'ultimate tanning' sunroof.

The car handles amazingly, there is on-demand power every single time you press the gas pedal, there is plenty of room with the wagon, but the car does depreciate really fast

The car itself is dynamite. I bought without checking what bells and whistles I really wanted. I overpaid by a long shot. In my defense, my 2004 BMW 530i suddenly died and I needed to replace ASAP. Now for the pertinent extras I'd advise for you as a buyer. Rear and front view cameras, parking assist, Harmon-Kardon stereo, LED headlights, parking assist. Basically everything!

Recently, we leased a new 2014 328 I sedan, from Braman. The engine is smooth and no lag or jerkiness when the turbo kicks in. The 8 gears makes it so. The three driving modes, Eco Pro, Comfort, and Sport will appeal to all variety of driving tastes. The interior is spacious and the seats are very comfortable, which was not the case in the past. The control monitor is easy to use and read. It has multiple functions, which make it a pleasure to us. Having driven an IS 250 previously, this is a huge improvement. Take a test drive, you will love this vehicle. Lease is up soon, so planning on leasing a 2017 330i.

I purchased this car certified pre-owned from a dealer in LA when I still loved in MN; moved to mountains in Central AZ 3-1/2 years ago. It’s been an excellent daily driver with very good manners, a wonderful long road trip car, and exhilarating to put through its paces at high speed where conditions permit. Super impressive drive train - can’t say enuf good things about the engine/transmission combo and how BMW sets the car up. My only criticism is that the UI for the entertainment and nav is pretty clunky....miles away from a Car Play, for example.

I bought my 2014 335xi on my 70th birthday in 2021. Best vehicle I have ever owned! Feels tight, solid on the road, strong engine at any speed, and looks great… Nothing feels quite like a BMW… “fits” me perfectly!

No issues with this car whatsoever. Keep up with the maintenance, read the codes every now and then not only when the CEL lits and be proactive. My diesel has 122000 miles and no issue it drives and looks new. I did replace two injectors waterpump, belts, valve cover gasket and manifold gasket. But this is all I've done in addition to regular maintenance. After owning several M3, M5, AMG, I can honestly say that this car has the least expensive maintenance.

47mpg hwy and 130000 miles nothing expensive

I am a BMW/Mercedes aficionado while I will admit that BMW is behind mercedes on reliability, it all depends on how you do your maintenance. If you're listening to wannabe mechanics that advise you to change oil at 8000 miles when you take mainly 2 miles trips then your car regardless of the brand it will die prematurely, if you on the other side don't mind doing the maintenance early then your caar will last a long time. My Beemer runs fantastic at 47mpg the mpg is an EV killer, the car is fast as a gas powered one I manage my own maintenance and repairs and I err on the paranoid side as I have little to no trust in parts and consumable manufacturers so I am one of those that change oils between 5-6k miles, use only a certain type of filters, etc ... knock on wood in 40k miles I only replaced tires and did the 100-130k miles recommended maintenance (tranny, filters, fluids, brakes, O2 sensors and injector cleaning). This is one fantastic car I would put it right behind the Mercedes OM606 engine reliability ...which is probably the best on any diesel car ever ....

I was able to snag my luxury line 328i with 98k miles in 2024 for 9k and it has been great so far I’ve put 11k miles on it in a little under a year and it has been perfect and the aftermarket support is massive. I’ve added in apple car play and it really modernizes the car a lot but the thermostat is known to fail but I’ve not had this issue and also the n20 motor this car has is infamous for the timing chain issue that I also have not had so far but other than that it’s been an amazing daily driver

If you’re poor and still want to drive a luxury automobile this is the one you get ;but it is a very basic model the dashboard goes out all the time ,but I can’t afford to fix the electronics because I have other issues to repair but overall the handling drives like a typical Bmw would
