A totally impressive machine

I have had this car for about 3 weeks. I recently turned in an 03 Benz E500 after a 4 year relationship. Shopping for a new Benz, I decided to finally drive the other German sedans. Well I have to say, the fun factor pins this car off the scale. After 5 minutes I was sold. No contest in driveability and ride dynamics. The small BMW gives up a modest amount of power and torque to the Benz, but more than makes up for that in driveability. I find myself looking for an excuse to drive! Never felt that way in the Benz. I could have gone for the 335, but the 328 was plenty for me, in addition to getting a bit more mileage and probably saving me some tickets.

Loving it on 2nd Day

Just picked up my 2007 CPO. Love it so far. Was a toss up between the 335 and the 328. The 328 has MORE than enough power and is naturally aspirated = will last longer, so I went with it. Opted for the base model (leatherette, non-sports seats, normal radio, 16-inch wheels) and as a car nut, I gotta say I love it, even without the bells and whistles. Manual transmission is silky smooth, and the car feels like it's on rails. The car just feels well put together and tight, at least compared to my 9-5 Aero which was creaky and loose. Can't beat the BMW CPO program either. Bought the maintenance pkg for $1500, won't sink a dime into this car for the next 5 years.

I have never owned a car such as this. I alternate between feeling that the car is an extension of me and that I am an extension of the car. Beautiful integration of driver and driving dynamics. No wonder it is the class leader.

Run flat tires

I have had six straight BMWs and haven't owned anything else for 20 some years. My problem is the run flat tires. The vehicle handling was acceptable when I purchased it but has gone steadly down hill. The dealer is resisting doing anything about it but the noise is gotten to be unacceptable. My air pressure sensor has come on twice and after checking the tires the pressure is within acceptable limits. Something wrong here and it's definitely the tires. Don't take a chance on these tires. My experience proves it. Don't accept the run flats.

Best to be handy

The all wheel drive multi-link suspension is the best handling car I have drove. Rain or shine it will steer at 120 on the curves. Scary how it feels like it is on rails and won't drift. Lots of things to fix if you run it hard. If your not able to replace parts yourself you need to save up some cash. Keeps your fluids changed and you will be in first place on the turns. I am rarely beat rain or shine. Will not race anything else except maybe an Audi one day.
