Used 2002 BMW 3 Series Coupe Consumer Reviews
BEST CAR I'VE EVER OWNED
Absolutely the best car I've ever owned. Could tell the second I started the test drive. My first road trip summarizes it all. 1200 Miles from LA to Lake Tahoe and Back. 4 People in the car, full trunk, AC on, many 100+mph sprints, two over 120, 130 top speed, and two passengers SOUND ASLEEP AT 130MPH!! Up to well over 7000 ft on the Climb up to the summit, driving around for a week at altitude in city driving conditions. Round trip gas mileage 28.6 MPG!!! AMAZING AUTOMOBILE, the quintessential BMW, 2.5L inline six + manual transmission + two door coupe= BMW!! Definitely the ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE!!
Worth the Aggravation
OK, I've had problems. Most recently the alternator overcharging. BUT - there is nothing else like this car at this price point. I bought a fully loaded low mileage '02. Once you familiarize yourelf with the Steptronic transmission, you will never buy another brand of car - the performance is that good. And you have to consider the real source for a lot of the little issues - Germans simply do not care about brake dust, wind noise, or cup holders. They want a fast sport coupe that handles well and stops well - period. If you like driving, then the 330Ci is for you.

Awesome Car... Just Awesome!
Okay, granted I have only had this car for a few days, but I driving it back from Kentucky to Atlanta, I got to know it pretty well. The car is unbelievable! Extremely smooth, stable, quick, predictable, quiet (no squeaks or rattles even on bumpy roads), and most of all.. FUN! I had one small problem with the door weather stripping that I knew about when I purchased it, but BMW fixed it under warranty, so now no problems. I could never buy another vehicle than a BMW. This car gets so many looks too, no matter where I am. It's just a beautiful, awesome car. I love it!
330Ci Showoff
The overall fundaments for me to purchase this car is the exterior design, which catched me and so many others. The overall maintenance is very good. The major problem for me is that I did not have much choices to choose unless I wait at least 2 months to get the options I desire. In another words, there isn't many of this cars in stock.
Coupe
My wife and I had a 328i Sedan, very nice car and no problems what so ever. We bought this car in February of 2003 new of the lot, super ride, fast, cool looking. We had some problems with the xenon lights and some noises in the interior of the car. But overall we are very happy with this car. Probably the next time no coupe but the new 5 series.
The sports coupe you must have
If you want a sports coupe with performance, no doubt the 330ci is your choice. The car is smooth, responsive and has tons of power. The exterior design is perfect and the overall build quality of the vehicle is excellent.
Happy I got the 330...
I was in the market for a new car... I was going to buy a 325ci but the delaer made me testdrive the 330 and boy was I happy. The car is awosme in all weather. I can pull off the line or drive leisurly and still be happy the sport package is a must and 5 sped is a definate... best bang for the buck by far, mercedes and audi eat your heart out!
BMW 330ci
A fun car to drive. Well behaved suspension and ample power encourage high speed touring.
330ci - not a good choice...
I have had nothing but problems with this car. The a/c didn't work from the factory and there are numerous other things too much to mention. Avoid this car, unless you have money to throw away.
my first BMW...won't be my last, either!
45,000 miles and over 18 months after buying the car, i still love it. it truly is the ultimate driving machine. near perfect balance and amazing feedback for the driver. i wish it had more power, but then again i've never had problems speeding at over 100 mph from LA to san diego. reliability has been great. the only gripe i have is that it costs a lot to maintain.
Another Great 3er
Incredible in every way! After owning many BMWs this is no disappointment. My last was an E36 99 M3. BMW has come a long way in terms of refinement, but build quality has suffered a bit compared to the E36 cars, especially interior. It is nowhere as "raw" as the previous generation, which some owners may see as regression. Smooth torqueband, perfect styling, handling hardwired to your brain. This car is really so much fun to drve and like any other BMW, you love it more and more every day. Reliability is perfect and even maintenance parts are dirt cheap compared to Honda, Toyota, etc. Just know where to look!
A real stunner
I bought used '02 325Ci with 5K miles, have driven another 1K. This car lives up to the hype. Yes, there are a lot of them, guess why? I compared the BMW against the Audi A4, M- B C-class and Lexus IS. As much as I love my SLK (and kept it for the weekends!), the BMW really begs to be driven. I needed a usable back seat and comfortable highway car -- the 325Ci delivers. I'm no lead foot, and the 184hp is fine. The car's wonderful in everyday driving. I'm sure the M3 and 330Ci fly, but unless your last car was a Corvette you won't feel deprived. The coupe is stylish and scarcer than the sedan, so the "me too" factor isn't bad even here in southern Cal.
Don't Compromise-YouGet what you pay for
You can have it all! Nobody touches BMW when considering the whole package- including price. Yes, Bimmers are expensive. However, show me a better all-around car within $10,000 of the 330. Compare 3 and 5 year cost of ownership to other vehicles. The 330, while costly to get into, is a better value than its less expensive competition. Some may be a bit faster 0- 60. Some may be more roomy. Some may have more creature comforts. In the end, however, they all cut a corner somewhere to be price competitive. There is a reason the 330 remains the benchmark of this segment - BMW didn't cut any corners! Nobody out-BMW's a BMW.
the best car i've ever owned
This car is awesome. I have always wanted a BMW. This truly is the ultimate driving machine. Perfect for everyday driving. I look forward to driving to work.
Beautiful Machine
The 330CI is my third car. Hands down it definately out racks the rest. The handling is AWSOME. Definately worth the bucks.
Absolutely fun to drive
This car is a great to drive! It seems small but when I get in I'm 6'2" 250lbs. the leg room is amazing! The controls are within easy reach and the acceleration is always ready to push it when I need it. Corners are easy to make and the car responds excellent.
Great Car!!!!
Best car I have ever purchased. From now on any car I purchase will have to be a BMW.
Very solid quality car
Very much worth the dollars. Yes, the image is there, but so is the quality.
Great BMW 325I
The car is as solid as a bank vault, no squeaks or rattles. It is smooth but it has an edge to the ride. The steering is precise and quick. Acceleration is not as good as the 330I I drove, but that is why the 330I costs a little more. Gas mileage would qualify this car for compact status. It is always 20 mpg or more for city driving. Over all I am extremely happy with the car.
THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE
I just purchased my 330ci and it is just a blast to drive. It handles better than any car I have ever driven. Their is no comparison to any other car out their in the 35-42 price range.
Best car in the World Besides the M3
This is the best car in the world oh no its just a Tribute
BMW 325ci
I bought this car on 12/3/05. The car is absolutely mint with sports package and clear euro lenses plus 5- speed manual. It has 42,000 miles on the speedometer. This beemer is absolutely great. The styling in and out, brakes, cornering. I love to take it on serpentine roads and zoom thru the turns. Acceleration seems to be sluggish a little bit from 0-60, However when you reach 60 forward it feels like a bullet. The maintenance can be vey expensive. After 3 weeks of ownership and hard usage of brakes. My brake light came on. I went to the local dealership and was told I need to wait 2.5 months for the first spot cost ($600).I did job myself for $120.
bmw
great looking car inside and out and performs just as well
Buy One!
I just purchased my 325ci, and couldn't be happier. I was looking for a bigger car, after driving a Z3 for the past three years, and after driving Audi's, Lexus's and Mercedes, I settled on the 325. I chose the sports package, sunroof and Xenon's. The suspension of the sports package is unbelievable, absorbs bumps wonderfully, and is by far a blast to drive. I have only had mine for 1000 miles, but I am looking forward to driving this car for years to come.
Great Car
Keep amazing me every day - I like it more and more
Proud to own this baby
This is the true definition of sprort luxury car. It gives you driving gratification and loves to be pushed. Fully equiped with 18" M-wheels makes this car irresistible.

Clean Tight Ride
Graduated from college, got a job, back on the singles scene, what to do? Bought a new BMW 325ci and love it! I researched the benz, lexus, acura, but BMW was it. I kept it pretty basic, metallic paint, manual trans, sport package, moonroof and paid close to MSRP at 32k. Met a girl the first hour I drove it off the lot, a fellow BMW owner. But forget the girls, this car handles like nobody's business, the engine grrs, the 17-inch tires inspire, and the stick is awesome. For a coupe the roominess is great. I'm blown away by Grmn Engineering, they thought of everything. From the full size spare w/ rim to the flip-over trunk mat. This car is AMAZING!
There is no comparison
This is my 2nd 3-series BMW. The handling / drivetrain is impeccable. The exterior and interior finish is superb. I could go on for pages and pages about how fun this car is to drive but you simply have to get behind the wheel to know what I'm talking about. Only bad points ? : Mediocre sound system. Had to install a short shift kit to get for a good precice shifter feel. Milage isn't great if you drive enthusiastically :-)
It's a BMW
2nd Bimmer, first a '96 328is which I loved. Decided to go for the new design in '01 w/ the 325ci. I got one of the first ones so I took what I could get. Prem. pkg, auto trans., no xenons(big disapointment!!). Great car, handles like a dream although! Perfect for a college student (a kid has an M5 on campus..parents must want him dead). NOT too fast, but not too slow at the same time and its extremely safe. I drove the 330ci after much hype (sales guy was like "this thing is a rocket, better be careful!") my girlfriend and I were very disapointed..we were expecting a very fast car..even my 328is felt faster.I will probably always stick with the bimmers..next up is the M3 coupe w/SMG
Great Drive, Few build issues
I have owned my 330 coupe for 10 months. The drive is superb. I have owned the 2.5 and 2.8 3-series and the 3.0 is light years ahead. My only problem is small build problems. At six months both front turn signals fell out on the highway due to a broken clip. A eight months the door seal came loose and the driver door must be slammed to close. The dealer was pretty good about fixing the problems, but I can see that BMW is starting to cheapen some components. Mechanically there has never been a problem.
Nothing like a BMW
A terrific driving car with outstanding quality and luxury. The engine is unlike all others in terms of smoothness and rev range. You don't need the 330 for extra money.
Super Car
This car is great and whoever built speed bumps they sure weren't Europeans!
Completely satisfied with purchase
I purchased a BMW 330ci with the common accesory groups; sunroof, leather, xenon lights, performance tires, steptronic tranmission. The car provides smooth quiet power, assured stability, prompt braking even on rain- slicked roads and a relaxing, enjoyable driving experience. In 30 years of driving, having owned 15 previous vehicles, this is by far the best overall. Dealer is highly recommended.
Great Car
This has been by far one of the best cars I have ever purchased. Only one thing I have to point out is watch out when parking the air damn is very low and easily gets hung up. Another note park far away from people or park next to others BMW's...
My 2002 BMW
I currently own a 2002 325ci I purchased in late October 2001. I loved my 1998 323is and I couldn't wait to get my hands on a new 2002. I must say that I think the 325ci is the best vauled car out there today. I test drove Benz, Lexus, and even a Boxter and I must say that the new 325ci won hands down in the all around value end. I felt like it handled better and more realistic than many of its competitors, plus the available options made it able to compete with cars twice its price! I must say that the guys at Wagner BMW were great and they gave me the best deal out of the three I went to. Anyway, I recommend the 325ci its a great buy.
Almost Perfection
I've had this car for one year now and has been a blast to own. This car hugs curves like no other car. The accelration is great. A five speed manual transmission is suggested (you save 1,000 or so bucks on the car, plus the car is funner to drive). An added bonus, this car is a giant chick magnet on wheels. If you get this car I suggest you special order it and take off things you don't need or want. Saved a few thousand by not getting the packages and just picking and choosing what I wanted from it. I highly recommend this car.
Ultimate Driving Experience
I am a car enthusiast "hardcore," which I will participate in my sparetimes in all car events. I always heard that BMW is the best car to buy for performance and fun to drive. After purchasing my car, a 330Ci, I'm in love. It's better than expected in the performance, fun to drive, and quality sectors. I drove 38,000 miles until now and I'm still excited when I can drive my "baby." It's very well balanced between comfort, which doesn't give the feeling of "bounciness" that usually happens with sports car. Engine is very silk smooth like, with a great response. The only problem I can tell upfront is the risk of getting a speeding ticket faster than you think.
A Balance of Performance and Luxury
All i gotta say is for all them haters out there "claiming" that the BMW has dick performance for the price tag, all i gotta say is if you want a "dragster" go get yourself a mustang, please do not waste a perfect car. BMW offers the best combination of performance when you need it, as well as the luxury, class, and comfort of any "high eloquent" car such as a mercedes etc. Of all the classy cars, i'd have to give BMW the best rating in terms of balance because a BENZ is just too luxury, no performance, while a WRX is just all raw performance without keeping the driver in mind.
Worth it!!!
This is a great car and worth the money. You feel great when driving it, and the quality is outstanding....
The car is pretty good....but pricy
The car is good overall but some lil porblems.
Dissapointmet in BMW
Well i bougth the car in febraury and the car interior is small for 6'5" persons.the interior is nice and the body lines are gorgeous but is not the best BMW ever. The car broke the tranny at 1600 miles at 1900 miles I got electrical problems with interior and at 2000 another tranny and a brand new engine. this is my last BMW ever! after owning a 750 a 740 and a 735
Best Car I've Ever Had!
This car is great. Excellent styling (both interior and exterior) and great performance. The sports package is a must.
Expensive and Shoddy Build Quality
Both my sister and I own a 2001 232ci and 2002 325ci respectively. Her car had a broken gas cover when delivered, after about a year the overhead liner began to fall off, the sunroof broke and the electric seat broke. When I took delivery of my car in early 2002 the a/c did not work and about six month later the doors could not be open from the inside. Where is the German quality I have read and heard so much about?
BMW 330Ci Review
Bought the car throught the European Delivery program. Great handling, and interior controls. Only single drawback is the Harmon-Kardon stereo; it is just lacking. The low-mid range frequencies creep into the cabin speakers causing system to sound muddy when the overall bass is increased. A better low frequency crossover and/or an onboard sub volume/eq would help out a lot.
Truely the Ultrimate Driving Machine!
Very responsive and fun to drive -- especially on the highways. The best coupe I have ever driven.
Wow !!
This car is amazing. My girlfriend and I were looking for a nice used luxury sports car and i had read many reviews on this vehicle. The reviews don't do it justice. This car is very quick and very nimble. I was really suprised at how much life this car has left in it with having 68K on the odometer but it purrs like a kitten. It also has great curb appeal. If you are looking for a great handling sports car, look no further. This car has it all and then some. The only downside is the interior plastic door handles squeak a bit. This may be do to the fact that the previous owner may have had them taken off the car.
Spoiled
I've owned my 325Ci for just over a year and I love the car. Performs great and makes those curves in the road straight. Very solid car. Driving this car has spoiled me and I can't imagine driving anyhting else. I do want more power though. 330 would be nice but can you say M3? Mmmmm. Only problems I've had with the car is the weather stripping in the door popped out and fell inside the door. Also sometimes the door locks have malfunctioned and I've been locked in the car. Have an appointment next week to get them fixed.
Ultimate Driving Machine
Great car, I love it. I would not imagine myself at this age (31) driving another car, except maybe for an M3. You'll have to own one to really understand. No problems what so ever, I put 18,000 miles in 10 months.
Sweet Ride
My car is optioned with SP, XN, 72M, PDC, 'ette, 5 spd. I've had the car for 2 months and 3000 miles now. It has plenty of practical power, possesses excellent handling characteristics, and powerful brakes. I took it on a 1500 mile road trip shortly after taking delivery and the car was a delight to drive. No mechanical or cosmetic problems to report other than the usual sticky gas pedal in hot weather. This is a warranty item that I'll have fixed at some point. The HK stereo is fine, but then I don't overboost the bass (the opposite, in fact). The worst thing about the car is it is unhappy going less than 100 miles per hour.
