The 2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale is a sporty subcompact SUV that is offered in three trims: Sprint, Ti and Veloce. All models are powered by a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine that is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels. A 15.5-kWh plug-in hybrid battery drives the rear wheels and is estimated to offer up to 33 miles in electric-only driving. Combined power output comes to 285 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. It should only take 2.5 hours to fully recharge the battery with a Level 2 charger or eight hours (overnight) with a Level 1 charger.
Which Tonale trim does Edmunds recommend?
We rarely suggest stepping up to the top trim, but in the case of the 2024 Tonale, it makes sense to spring for the Veloce. It doesn't represent a huge jump in price and you get several convenience features and an adaptive suspension that lets you choose between comfort and sporty handling. It's also eligible for the Premium Interior and Sound package that upgrades the audio system and seats.
