2005, but still very relevant!

Found a used TSX from an owner who babied it since he bought it in 2004; only 55k miles. It still looks and runs like it's brand new. Love how it handles, and love the interior. Has some pep, but I find it relatively quiet. Very sleek and stylish, almost timeless, and I think it looks better than a lot of cars that are new. As other reviewers have mentioned, I've alot had a lot of compliments. For an 11-year old car (and counting), it's pretty impressive that it still looks and feels like a newer car. Downside is the premium gas. Thankfully, not filling up often so cost offsets. 24/32 MPG. **Update 3/13/16** Can't add anything else that's already been said. Still love it. I was going to get rid of it since I now take the bus to work 5 days a week, but my girlfriend convinced me to keep it because of how much she likes it.

This car has been an excellent replacement for my BMW 3 series. I was sceptical at first but have come to realize that BMW is not the be all and end all in sport sedans. Great price good fuel economy and fully loaded base model made this an easy decision. Handles all weather conditions well. I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and see summer conditions as well as extreme winter driving conditions every year. The traction control in this car puts me at par with any SUV on paved icy and snow covered roads. This is a fine entry level compact sports/luxury sedan. Many reviewers have said that a 4 cylinder 200hp engine is not enough power. I disagree. Remember this is an entry level sports sedan.

My wife and I bought this car used in 2007 with 32k miles. This is the best car we have ever purchased. Interior is very comfortable. Exterior is very stylish. We have the 6-speed manual and this car gets 26city/34hwy mpg consistently. I commute 45 miles to and from work everyday. This car is very quiet and handles great on the road, rain or shine. I just replaced the original tires at 65k miles. The H.I.D. headlights make it very easy to see at night (they light up the entire road!). The one issue that I had with the car was having to replace the passenger door lock actuator at 44K miles. Other than that, flawless.

I bought this tsx from an older woman with 70k miles. This car is beautiful and reliable. The sound system is far more superior to even newer cars! It looks great and I get compliments on it all the time. I have done all fluid and filter changes on time and the car runs like a clock still. No tranny issues like other Hondas. Only thing I've ever had to replace was the door lock. I wanted to buy a newer car but was unsure if it could match this! Get the navigation package for the better sound system. Bottom line - this car can do 250k miles easy

Bought the car new 3 years ago. I still love driving it! Still has great "curb appeal." My wife is tired of driving our minivan - always asking to drive the TSX to work. Black exterior looks brand new. TSX gives th appearance of a luxuray car but cost less than $26K (in 2005). Never been in for repair.

I bought my car exactly two years ago. It is a very small and super comfortable car. It definitely is a comuter car. My 05 has comfortable tan leather seats. I love my LED lights!! I tinted my windows so the car looks even better. I had to eventually get new brakes and 3 of my cylinders blew up which was provoked by the previous owner who used the wrong material the first time! My battery eventually gave out so i replaced it. I just replaced my thermostat which was constantly fluctuating in temp in a span of 2 minutes. The costs were low and the parts were cheap. Unfortunately the car does not come with an aux so i bought a cheap mp3-radio converter. I used to be able to hit 350 mpt but now i barely get bg 330 miles (depends on traffic!!!!!!!!) Cheapest i paid was $32 for gas without any safeway discounts and the most i have paid was 65-70$ (cant remember exactly). My tank holds 14 gallons. I have seen really nice bumper body kits that make the car look nice! This is not a race car!!!!! I despise seeing tsxs and hondas built completely when in reality theyre not rally cars!!!! (I have seen a dope built tsx though. It only looks good if the owner knows what theyre doing to their car except for Honda fanatics! Stay away from those!!!) I do not suggest putting an exhaust because it will sound horrible and everyone will laugh at you. V techs produce farting sounds! You cant escape that noise..ever. Acuras and hondas are not rally cars! They shouldnt be built especially stanced.... Overall, it is a fun and cute car! Still my first car but definitely was/is a great learning experience and comuter car. Parks easily. The costs are reasonable. I

Great vehicle when purchased used. Bought this to replace a Honda Accord V6 Sedan. The TSX it's a great commuter vehicle. Very comfortable, good MPG for the model year, great handling. Has been very reliable and all indications show that it will be a great car for a long time. One negative comment that other reviewers have mentioned is the Premium Fuel requirement. This is a false statement. The owner's manual states that premium fuel is recommended for rated performance. That being said, I've put over 38k miles on this vehicle and only used regular unleaded fuel. Not one issue! The only negative is the red paint that is mentioned by other reviewers. The paint is fading to pink, but the paint finish is still very good. So if you are looking at this generation TSX, definitely avoid the red unless it has been repainted.

Over all a really nice car that will get you from A-B not only in style but in a hurry as well. Interior styling is really nice. Performance is as expected, handles really smooth, and hugs corners well with the VSA. Dash lighting is exceptional, but a little overpowering at night in full bright. Navigation is the most intelligent system out there that I have seen. Not only do you get navi, but you get the trip computer (w/memory), calender/event planner, and other goodies that my not be mentioned. Definitly an awesome car, for the money. Would buy an Acura anytime. The leather is really soft and seats give you oodles of support. Great car for the growing family.

We have owned our 2005 Acura TSX with 137,000 miles for more than 8 years. It has been a fantastic car and extremely reliable. Gas mileage is decent about about 25mpg around town and 33mpg highway. It is definitely not a fast car, does not get the best MPG (uses premium), and is not even as comfortable as a lot of others. However, I am still giving it 5 cars because it drives just as well as the day we bought it and the driving experience is great. I do full synthetic oil changes and ATF fluid changes regularly. The only problems that we have had is a coil going out (easily replaced them all for $40), and the door locks act up. Our family has own many cars and this has definitely been the most reliable. The longer I have it, the more I enjoy driving it. This is also the longest I have ever owned a car (actually it is my wifes who loves it as much as I do) I think it is one of the better looking Acura's ever made and it a lot of fun to drive (even with it being fairly slow compared to its competitors). I wouldn't hesitate to buy a used one even now if I needed to.

Bad Milano Red Paint, Acura Reluctant to Fix

Car drives great but Acura does not want to stand behind its very poor quality paint. Whatever you do, DO NOT BUY A RED ONE!!! Unless of course you like pink cars. The assistance they offered for a repaint job only covered 1/4 of the cost. Don't forget that it take premium fuel too. Costs much more than a Honda to own.

As a big car guy, I have not been more impressed with any car I have owned more than this Acura! Bought it with 73K miles from an older woman and 80k miles later she runs fine! The car still looks amazing and I get a lot of compliments from everybody. I bought the car when I was a sophomore in college. Amazing sound system, sunroof, interior looks like the cockpit of a plane. Steering is super sporty and the tranny is solid. The Navi adds a cool look to the car as well. The Xenon headlights are beautiful too! Its such a good looking car that even my BMW loving friends say its a handsome car. I will be driving this car into the ground. Only issue was the passenger door lock, which is a super common Honda repair.

I purchased the Acura TSX a week ago, my prior car was the Ford Focus. I was going to get the Fusion but I wanted a car that could stand alone. I decided to go with the 2005 model because it had most everything the o8 had in it for almost half the price. The navigation system is awesome. I love to drive the car at night and night time use to be what I would dread. The car handles well around corners and when I come to a stop it so smooth! I did not realize Acura held the prestige in this car that it does. Excellent vehicle!

Friends borrowing it because his newer 2014 car broke down. *** update 2023 : Runs great. Had an ignition coil go out at 175k miles but took about 10 minutes to put in a new one . *** update 17 1/2 years old and still handling business like a champ. ***new Update 16 1/2 years and still going strong. Great car. **Update 15 1/2 years and still going strong, still enjoyable to drive. This vehicle is so well built. Its beautiful, simple, effective, practical, and reliable. Know that the 1st Gen Acura TSX is rated as one of the most, if not THE most reliable entry level sedan in its decade and class. It has a bit of power to accelerate with confidence. It handles and stops well. This is a drivers car and gives you feed back. Its construction is simple yet reliable making it a great car to purchase used. Repair costs are relatively inexpensive. It doesn't have a lot of newer electronic features to fail or cause issues. It has enough features to give you a comfortable ride. The stereo is pretty decent but not as good as the newer ones. Mine is going on 14 years old and the only worry that I have is that I won't be able to buy a new car for another decade because theres nothing wrong with the TSX. Oil analysis performed by Blackstone laboratories showed my engine and transmission to be in excellent shape (seals good, low/no containments, low metal in oil numbers, oil not breaking down early). I do most all maintenance myself on vehicles giving me the chance to see quality build construction vs poor quality.

10-yr owner of a 1994 Integra. Toss up between TL & TSX, but could not see a reason to pay the extra $6k for the TL. Wanted the flexibility of the rear fold down seats. Regularly get 23-25 mpg. The trunk now seems small since I’ve put a stroller in it. Battery replaced under warranty at 2.5 yrs – was in for an oil change & battery tested low so they changed it FREE. There was a rattle in the dash at cold temps – told it was a cantilevered dash, so basically a design flaw. Tried to fix 3 times & then a month or so after the last try it went away on its own. Most recent problem has been a side-to-side rock in the driver’s seat - fixed under warranty.

I bought this car with 68K miles on it for a very good price. I love it so far. I had a Jetta before and the TSX is much more powerful and rides very smooth. I have owned it for 6 months and the only issue so far is with the door locks failing to work with the remote. I see that has been a problem in other reviews as well. I hope it's not expensive to fix. I plan on keeping this car for another few years.

After driving a 1989 Acura Integra for 187000 miles, I figured there wasnt any problem of choice for a new car. The TSX is the rebirth of why I bought my first Acura ... style, handling, which is a top priority of mine as I used to rally a 1965 Ford Cortina. The TSX is a lot more refined then my Integra was. Quieter, faster, smoother ride, good acceleration when needed and a lot more creature comforts starting with the comfortable heated seats, the lumbar support, more headroom, more legroom and a host of standard items that are optional on other makes.I am a professional photographer and being able to put the rear seats down gives me plenty of space for equipment.

I was preparing to replace my Honda Accord and wanted to move up. The TSX doesn't feel any smaller, but the backseat is a full 2-inches smaller for legroom. While 2 inches may not seem like much, it matters when you have children. Then there's the matter of power. This car does not zip. The Accord V6 has 40 more HP, and gets the same gas mileage. If you're going to compare - the Accord V6 with Nav is more comparable to the TL, not the TSX. The TSX feels more like a spiffy Civic.

I am very happy with my TSX. It has all the features that I wanted (stylish, nice engine, leather seats, manual transmission) for a very reasonable price. It feels good on the road, and gets awesome MPG (26 mpg so far, mixed city and highway driving, up to 80-90mph). Car's bad sides are: weak aftermarket support, radio is simple (no RDS, nothing fancy, still sounds good though) and some rattles (addressed by the dealership). More power would be nice as well.

Ok, the pros: Looks nice inside and out but quite conservative, very comfortable for front driver and passenger. pretty smooth engine for a 4Cyl. Awesome tranny. The cons: All 4 detention rods in the doors went bad, brakes had to be replaced 2 times in 8000 miles, was told next time I would have to pay. Creaks and rattles in the doors. Paint oxidizing and scratches easily. Bad on gas and no torque.

I cross-shopped the TSX with a Lexus IS 300. I felt the TSX has a more sophisticated interior, and that it would have better Snow Belt traction. I've driven my father's 2001 Camry XLE V6 which has 16" wheels and it felt very bouncy and jittery. I was shocked to find the TSX was very composed with larger 17" rims, except for the occassional road bumps, which feels like soft jolts. The TSX feels glued to the road at all times and it is quiet. The 4 cylinder engine is audible in the cabin at idle and there are tire noise on rough pavement. Acceleration in the 35mph-60mph range is smooth, very fast & responsive.

After putting nearly 8000 miles on my TSX, I am less than pleased with the amount of problems I have had. The moonroof was rattling, after a second visit to the dealership, they put a tape around the sunroof, which helped, but it is rattling again. CD changer was replaced because it was skipping. Paint seems to chip easily. Fuel economy is decent, however, since it requires premium gas, it does add up. Power is just ok at initial get-go, you can really tell it's a 4 cylinder. However, the engine is smooth and does handle well on the freeway. If I had to go back and remake my decision, I would have gone with the Accord EXV6 coupe (more power and reliability).

I bought this car about 3 years ago and it's been a great car so far. No issues at all. Gas mileage has been much better than advertised and I'm getting about 26/34 consistently. I looked at a bunch of cars before selecting this one and I can't imagine getting a better value anywhere else. The price of the car was very reasonable considering all the features you get. I will definitely consider buying another Acura when I decide to upgrade in a couple years.

I have had this car for almost one year. In conservative driving I have received as much as 32 mpg on highway but as low as 22 mpg city, so it depends. Acceleration is OK, although I find 1st gear to be just about useless. This car needs more torque. The "premium" sound system is anything but that. The right door has a rattle and one of the speakers has an annoying buzz. The dash makes creaking sounds as the car goes over rough spots on the road. I find this lack of quality not fit for a luxury vehicle label. 2nd gear occassionally grinds eventhough I have fully clutched. Acura is to Honda as Toyota is to Scion. This is NOT a luxury car equivalent to the Lexus or BMW.

Having driven 1500 miles in less than a month since purchase, I've enjoyed every minute of it. Buying experience was easy and without hassle. I particularly chose the TSX because of all the standard features at a fixed price. Driving experience is almost excellent, with a smooth engine combined with a buttery gearbox, but FWD dynamics and slightly harsh suspension. There could be some improvements (see below), but for the price, it can't be beat. Although it does not feel as solid as a VW, build quality if very high. Since it's new, cannot fairly rate reliability. Fuel economy for the 4-cyl could be a bit higher. Overall, a solid sedan with important features at a low price.

I have owned a 2005 TSX about a month now and enjoy driving it every time. I have taken it through its paces and it handles nimbly and with ease. I do find the seats to be a bit uncomfortable on long trips and the gear shift a bit cheap feeling, especially when in sport shift mode. Overall, I feel the quality and reliability to be one of its strong points. I chose this car over the Audi A4 due to its standard features, reliability and performance. It looks really cool in black with tinted windows.

I have owned BMWs in the past 20 years. The upkeep was quite costly, so I did some research on a new sports car. The TSX was well received by the writers and drivers of the main auto magazines, so I took a test drive. Love at first sight. The 4 cylinder, 200 HP engine has a lot of umph!!Gas mileage averages 28, and at future increases in gasoline approaching the 3 dollar level, this is very good.I'm in my 70's and very impressed with this auto. Fun to drive daily.

This is my 2nd Acura (Integra GSR coupe previous), and my 3rd Honda product. I was jealous of anyone that had a TSX because I just knew what a great car it was by previous experience and awesome press raves. I didn't think I could afford one, but I was wrong. Being the enthusiast I am, I of course have the 6 speed model which is absolutely terriffic! Honda is known for their manual trannys, but this is 10 steps ahead...seriously. The exterior is understated, but classy and will look great in 10 years. I am very picky about my cars, and don't want something everyone else has. The TSX is a great jewel of a car that should be a definite consideration for people wanting it all.

Gives outstanding gas mileage (30+ highway). Major problem with rear camber. (had kit installed) and door lock actuators. Otherwise fit and finish as well as performance had been what I expected. Wish Acura would put a four in the TL (more room). Would recommend for an average size or below average sized person.

The best drive I ever had in the TSX was the test drive. It makes a very good first impression. This quickly wears off though after you drive it for a month or two. It quickly develops rattles and squeaks and the precise handling quickly loses alignment. It's never starts without cranking too long. The fuel economy is much worse than advertised, even under optimal conditions. Seats are narrow and uncomfortable for an average-sized person. No side-body protective molding. Also, some of the fancy features are poorly implemented. It has power seats but no position memory which is worse (slower and less reliable) than plain old manual seats. There's no "mute" button for the stereo.

For about $500 more than the accord v6, you get a much nicer vehicle and service.

Buyer's remorse - what's that?

I wanted a nicely equipped, fun to drive car that wouldn't break 35 grand level. I had a closer look and test drove A4 1.8T, 325i and TSX. Audi and BMW are of course very nice cars but once you start throwing in options (leather seats, premium stereo, xenon lights, etc) it is very difficult to stay beyond the price level I wanted. The TSX is a whole different story - it drives as nice as the other cars, it comes fully loaded and what really sold me is reliability - being a very busy professional I have no time to waste at repair shops. I never double guessed my decision - the car looks great, drives like a dream and is a real head turner. Get one, you won't regret.

By far, this is has been my favorite car I've ever owned. The interior is one of the best I've ever been in, and the exterior looks great and is timeless. For a car under $30k, it's a steal.

This car comes loaded with features already, moonroof, heated seats, dual climate control, xenon lights, 6-disc in dash, great audio, no need to upgrade unless you want navigation. The price is great. The power is surprising for a 4 cylinder. It has plenty of kick when you hit the pedal. The car is solid, handles just fine, is great in the snow, and has great safety features. The optional navigation system is easy to use, has a lot of features, including voice activation. The fuel economy is great. Premium Fuel. Navigation system has a trip computer to give you information on fuel usage, mileage left, and averages. Overall great car, very fun to drive, well built, and good resale value.

This is by far the best car I've owned its my 10th Honda made car and the best. I love the HID lights and XM radio, although another 20hp or so would be nice it's still a fantastic car and the best buy for the money anywhere. Do yourself a favor and put this car at the top of your shopping list.

Picked up the 2005 TSX 3 days ago and I am impressed! XM satellite radio, heated mirrors and power passenger seats are nice additions. 200 hp engine acceleration is more than acceptable. Sound system is terrific and leather seats are very comfortable. After researching Honda Accord, Subaru WRX, Toyota Camry and BMW 3 series, I am certain that I made the correct selection. This car is combines sportiness, luxury and and enjoyment of driving in a nice package.

Acura has definitely lived up to the hype. A limited production vehicle, the TSX is in definite competition with the BMW 325i, Audi A4, Mercedes Benz C Class, Subaru WRX, and Infiniti G35. The interior is luxurious and tasteful, with a plethora of features and amenities, especially the useful navigation system. The exterior is well designed, with the grill complementing its aggressive stance. The ride is firm but soft, as the suspension withstands bumps nicely. The body is agile and has minimal body roll, giving the TSX a sports sedan attitude. The 200hp VTEC engine is smooth and silky, with plenty of low-end torque for passing and freeway acceleration. At $30,000, a definite best buy.

After 1700 miles of driving this vehicle I can say that I am completely satisfied with great looks, over all outstanding handling, performance and total comfort of this car. The 5 speed AT is a smooth as glass. Fit and finish are excellent and the 17 inch wheels are best.

I just purchased the TSX and I love it. Its stylish, fun, and awsome to drive. Even though it's a V4, it has great power. I love this car and i would suggest getting it. I looked at the Volvo S40 also, and for the money the TSX is a better value!

After driving and pricing several Euro competitors, I'm extremely happy with my TSX. Even though it's not the fast car out there, it has plenty of grunt in the higher rpms. The interior, like most Honda products, is above reproach and the list of standard features is what sold this car. Take this car to your favorite country road and its a blast.

I love my car and I am very happy with it, and have absolutely no complaints. It is very fun to drive, and people comment on it everywhere I go, and the gas mileage is ok. I did expect better mileage of a 4-cylinder though.
