  Hi. I just bought a preowned Volvo V40 and the brakes feel funny to me, almost as if the pads are down to nothing and scraping the rotors. No gravelly grinding, but like a low rumble and possible ever-so-slight metal to metal contact.   www1 Ask one question of Volvo (Ford). Do you warrantee the brakes? Go from there. This will be the first question I would ask in buying any Volvo. Expect the same answer and the same results. Near great cars with no brake life. I guess Volvos slogan should be. "Volvo for no brake life". heh heh heh (so bad you have to laugh) Low reliability cars with high maintenance costs. Cheers ...   I'm surprised there are not a lot of discussions on the 2003 V40. I'm in Europe, but will soon go to the US, and am undecided between this wagon, the VW GLS V6 Passat Wagon, and the '03 Honda Accord EX V6. I am a Honda owner, so my first instinct is Honda.   I picked up a 2003 V40 two weeks ago for my wife. I was on the same boat as you. The $4000 dealer incentive which dropped the price of the car almost $5000 off MSRP, was a deal closer for me. I like the Volvo safety that's offered in this car, all kind of air bags and side curtains as well as whiplash preventive front seats. As for your question about ... Read More
