2002 Volkswagen Cabrio Convertible GLX 2dr Convertible (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

Review

Not the car I wanted, but I was going
to get a convertible or use a bicycle!
Didn't even look at it until I
realized I couldn't afford any of my
first 10 choices and thought I might
have to get a Miata! Then I found out
they had a model with automatic top.
Some small design annoyances and it
isn't a sportscar, but I knew that
when I bought it. It is inexpensive to
own, has lots of safety features and
the top comes down so I am not
complaining.

Best Features

Convertible Top, All windows are Auto Down and key closes windows so I don't forget to close any when I put the top up.

Worst Features

Very Minor. Wiper control in bad place, I turn it on when I start car. Cup holder doesn't fit a tall cup. Top could be a bit faster up and down.

2002 Volkswagen Cabrio Convertible GLX 2dr Convertible (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

Review

Great little car - sharp looking red
with a black top and black leather
interior (very hot in the summer).
The extra paid for the GLX is worth
it! I purchased the vehicle while
living in the mountains - perfect
handling on those curvy mountain
roads. However, now I'm back in the
big city and feel intimidated in my
small five-speed. Back to an SUV for
me!

Best Features

Looks great - a real eye-catcher. Great handling and tight steering. High quality cloth top, easy to raise and lower, and a boot that's very easy to put on. Never had the first leak problem, and after almost two years, the top still looks brand new!

Worst Features

Drink holders are almost useless, door handles peeled early on. At a little over 24,000, reverse gear went out; however, it was covered under powertrain. VW doesn't have many service centers, making it hard to leave your car for service. The warranty could be a little better.

2002 Volkswagen Cabrio Convertible GLX 2dr Convertible (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

Review

This car is the best. When I test
drove it, I knew it was going to be
the one. It's a small compact car
perfect for zooming in and out of
traffic and getting where you need to
go.

Best Features

My favorite features are the heated front seats, the actual size of the car, the fact that it is cute and a convertible, and that it is comfortable

Worst Features

I really don't have any.

2002 Volkswagen Cabrio Convertible GLS 2dr Convertible (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

Review

What an awesome little car! This baby
is lots of fun, great to drive and eye-
catching cute! If you want one, get
it now, because this is your last
chance (it's being discontinued in
favor of a beetle convertible)!

Best Features

Drive, easy to handle top, very quiet for a convertible and loaded with standard features.

Worst Features

More power, especially for the semi- low gas mileage.

2002 Volkswagen Cabrio Convertible GL 2dr Convertible (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

Review

For the most part, this was a reliable
little car and fun to drive. Like most
VW's it was a rough ride but it was the
roomiest, most relaible convertible
around...
Until the oil light come at 60K. I
changed the oil but it was still on. I
brought it in and the dealership said
it was a comoputer problem and would
cost at least $800 to fix. Otherwise,
the car was fine. A week later, the
engine seized. Neither the dealership
nor VW accepted any responsibility. I
will never buy a VW again. I really
like the Beetle but I don't want to
give my business to a "take-your-money-
and-run" company!

Best Features

The top!

Worst Features

Better business ethics
