I have a 2009 Jeep Liberty which I've owned since 3/10 and I love it! But, in the past 2 years I've had intermittent issues with it not starting, not cranking, not even turning over. I've replaced the starter twice, replaced the battery with a Sears Die Hard and had it towed to the dealership (Earnhardt Jeep in Mesa, AZ and Carmax in Gilbert, AZ) 6 times only to be told, ... I have a 2009 Liberty with skyslider roof. I test drove a sport without one then they orderd one in. Excessive wind noise, gapping, and sounds like it's going to come apart at highway speeds on a rainy nday. I have had it into the dealership 9 times, and 25 days without my vehicle to dsrive. It started to come apart on me on the highwway a few weeks ago so ... Read More
Everything I am hearing is leading to a recall, from online people been stating some dealers have already replaced their regulators even if not under warranty. In my case I have 2 already documented with Jeep replacement, and they did something another time right after fixing one that is not in the service system. Now I have another one failing, well actually failed 08/20/10 and I am being told by Jeep ... Read More
Does anyone know how to get more horsepower out of the engine? :) And also how do i get better gas mileage?
I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty 4X4, 3.7 liter engine. The oil light will come on when initially started after sitting for awhile. However, if the engine is cut off and re-started the oil light does not come on again. The oil is changed every 3,000 miles since purchasing the vehicle in February 2009. Any solutions to this little mystery. Thank you,
RUN don't walk as far from the dealer as you possibly can except to purchase your new window and regulator. I just picked up my window and regulator at the dealer except this time it came with a sticker for 58cents to put on the window telling anyone who was repairing the door that the window was not the 2006 window and it refered them to a Mopar bulletin # 68058661AA. ... caribou1: The ashes are no problem! We have a Waterford wood heat stove that generates lots of ashes! Maybe I should bag them and sell the bags. Now that is the kind of recycling I can really get into. I found out that the 2006 Liberty's have a service note on how to clean these dirt-magnet seat covers. Wash with warn water only power vac. Then let dry, and repeat the ... Read More
I had my fuel filter changed at the dealer two weeks ago. When I go the Jeep back it now sputters around 1400 RPM, more-so when warming up after it has been driven to operational temperature and then turned off for a while. I took it back the following Wednesday to have them fix it. What they told me is that I have to replace the filter housing under a TSB ... Read More
Hi, Im writing to you again because after so much online searching, you are the only person who has the same problem as I do with the CD Player motor running when the ignition is off and key is out. Seems this problem drained my battery over the weekend as well. Was this problem every fixed? My Jeep is still at the service center as they are still trying to find ... Read More
Hi! Ive been having the same problem with my CD Player motor running when my Jeep is off! I brought it in last week and they were so convinced that it was a faulty radio which they replaced only to have the same problem again. They told me to try out the Jeep and see if the problem persists while they were also waiting for Chrysler to get back to them. ... Read More
Yeah she had a 99 cherokee classic. (which she loved) And obviously felt the same way you do about the new Liberty. To answer your question I was told it was total miles on the vehicle. She now has a little over 4,000 on it and it corrected itself before the 4500 mark. I was told the flash needs a little bit to see how you drive the vehicle to know ... Read More
Yeah the vehicle is great, I have had a 98' Cherokee forever and this seemed to fall right in line with what we needed, just big enough but not huge, momma and new baby are happy too! I picked the Jeep up this morning and the dealer said they can not do anything unless there is an error code or something obvious the Chryster would approve for warranty work. They said ... Read More
Oh, also you should probably have them, if they don't already, contact Chrysler on the issue and nip it in the butt ASAP! I would tell them you are aware of the issue and don't want a lot of the dealership guessing and replacing unnecessary parts in an attempt to address the issue. I would certainly hope that by now Chrysler will know what to do.
Do you really like the vehicle? My girlfriend absolutely loved the style and all the neat stuff on it. She is now glad, because of that, it does not do that anymore. Good luck and please keep me posted.
KBeast1979,Mine only has 950 miles on it? I did not want to drive it too much knowing what was going on with the vibrations. I got two people to ride along last night to ensure that they could pinpoint at what shiftpoint the vibrations start and stop. I at least got acceptance from the dealership that something was wrong. I'll keep you updated when I hear back probably today or tomorrow, ... Read More
mcarver82. Ok, well we weren't happy to say the least about how it was all handled. We took it in, they did the flash update, luckily she had a free car rental policy in her contract when my girlfriend purchased the car, gave her a car rental, returned the next day and they said they thought it was still doing it. She drove it and agreed. They said they wanted to ... Read More
kbeast1979. So I took the 09 liberty in and they told me the exact same thing about the flash updates and gave me some crap about the adaptive transmission? I can not drive it without getting fumed about it so it is going back tomorrow. I can at least pinpoint where the issue is this time. As soon as the tranny hits 4th (50mph), the low end has a pulsing growl, ... Read More
You had the same problem as I. The dealer told us chrysler came out with a flash upgrade for the computer to install with the same description. The problem was so severe in my Jeep it did not fix it and now the district managers of chrysler are evaluating the vehicle after throwing a new front and rear driveshafts at it and $3000 dollars. We are now in the process of ... Read More
I bought an 09 last week and just now am noticing the same grumble and vibration in certain gears mainly through the gas pedal. It does feel like something is stuck, maybe a brake caliper? On the interstate it does hesitate and jump between gears like you said, I would like to hear someone who might know what is going on? Looks like a trip to the dealer this weekend!
I am looking at a new leftover 2008 4X4 6 speed manual Jeep Liberty. ?What problems should I be aware of? Is this transmission and the clutch reliable? This Liberty does not have a sunroof or skyslider. What is the realistic mileage I can expect with a manual transmission? The axle ratio is 3.21 on a manual vs 3.73 on an automatic. This should save some fuel. Do 2008 models have ... Read More
I just purchased a new 2009 Liberty a month ago. And about 2 weeks ago I noticed a significant vibration feeling in the gas pedal starting at around 40 mph. And this weekend I went out of town on the highway for the first time and once I got it to about 70-75 mph I felt like I couldn't go any faster like it was being held back and could feel ... I purchased my Jeep Liberty in April of 2008 and have genuinely been pleased with both the vehicle and the service. On June 24 my wife and I, while on vacation, were driving down I-10 in southern Mississippi and were suddenly frighten by what sounded like a shotgun blast just above our heads. We looked around and there were no other vehicles or overpasses in sight. We pulled over on the ... Read More
Hey there - I actually bought a brand new Liberty in December as well. Starting at 600km, I have had the exact same problem 4 times now (and I'm up to about 1200km). It runs fine after its jumped as long as it doesn't sit for more than about 12 hrs without driving it to recharge the battery. With mine....I also notice that you can hear the CD Player motor run ... I bought a 2009 Liberty in Dec. In that last two weeks, the battery has drained three times (after the first two times, factory replaced the battery) and the car won't start. With a jump the car will start. I had the tow package installed by the factory (at the dealership). Any idea where to look for the problem. To my knowledge nothing was left on. However, a friend tried to ... Read More
I also purchased an "09" Liberty with a "skyslider" roof. Noise is not the right word for it. I'm assuming that Chrysler/Jeep didn't learn nor try to fix the problem for the 2009 model year. Noted to my dealer that there is a Blt. from Chrysler Jeep concerning this problem but his response was "it was or the 2008 model therefor not applicable to the 2009 model". DUH. I guess I ... Well, you have to figure... When the 2009 Jeep Wranglers are released, the 07 models will be considered "old," but the thing is, Jeep dealers will still have BRAND NEW 07 models sitting on their lot. But they will want to get rid of them, so they will have HUGE price cuts. Although there will be good deals, they will go fast. So hurry up when you see sales. Also, tonight ... Read More
I tend to look on the positive side of things and with rare exceptions, things turn out that way. 1. Future parts: Manufacturers are required to stock replacement parts for I think 9 years after a model is discontinued. I owned a Merkur XR4ti (loved it) and had no trouble getting parts for it. I bought it new in 1986 and sold it in 1994. Rarely is it engine stuff that ... Read More
