Wasted money when fuel system keeps failing
Ken Payne, Carmichael, CA, 10/19/2015
2012 Hyundai Genesis 5.0 4dr Sedan (5.0L 8cyl 8A)
Car looks & feels great until it stalls at the intersection, or sputters when accrlerating between 20 & 40mph after the repair. Hyundai doesn't seem too interested in repairing performance issues. Their solution is to keep having the customer purchase expensive fuel parts to guess a fix.
Showing signs of aging - early

2012 Hyundai Genesis 5.0 4dr Sedan (5.0L 8cyl 8A)
UPDATE: Front sensors failed. Always on causing curb warning to fail. Replacement if all front sensors required. Sad as my wife’s 13 year old Volvo sensors have had no issues. in the two years since my last review several areas of my car are unexpectedly beginning to show signs of year and at only 39k miles. First, the black leather interior is showing signs of white bloches. The … dealer tried to blame perspiration and then I showed him the areas where no one would touch the leather for any period of the me, the rear upper door. Still, no support to correct the problem other than the phone # for a leather dye shop. Just completed a 40k service. New tires because of dry rot but all other areas of the car checkedbout a-okay. So, six years, 43k miles, and 26 miles a day round trip commuting mostly on express lanes of the interstate (65 MPH speed limit) and she’s had losing up well. I plan on keeping her until at least until 2022 for a full ten years. I think she’ll make it, and then some.
Old review: I bought my 2012 Genesis 5.0 new and as my 2nd Hyundai. My first Hyundai was a 1987 Sonata. So, I had a brief 25 year interlude between Hyundai's, but man on man what a difference a generation makes. I immediately changed the wheel, trunk, and steering wheel emblems to the Korean wings (removing or covering the flying 'H') and no one knows what I'm driving. I've had people in parking lots as me how I like my Bentley ;-) And I tell them just fine. The 5.0 V8 gets V8 gas mileage in the city. On the interstate for traveling I average 30+ miles to the gallon thanks to Hyundai's economy mode. What, exactly, does ECO mode do? I dunno - I dun-care, but it works! Driving comfort is second to none. Get up and go is gone up and went. Living in the metro DC area and driving the beltway frequently I've found myself having to yell, "whooo nelly" when I accelerate to get onto I-495 as she will ever so smoothly go to speeds in excess of the speed limit in zero-2-nothing flat. Truck space - two sets of golf clubs and extra room to spare. Back seat - lots of compliments from passengers in the room they have. Ride: The ride is so smooth on both city and highway roads. Tire tread wear is holding up nicely - no issues. All other wearable items and not to much for wear. All in all I couldn't be happier and I'm looking forward to getting all of my warranty (ten years) out of this car.
Incredible amount of technology and power

2012 Hyundai Genesis 5.0 4dr Sedan (5.0L 8cyl 8A)
The 2012 Hyundai Genesis has an amazing array of technology that many other cars did not start offering until 2018. In 2021 the idea of Lane Departure Warning and Adaptive Speed control is normal in many vehicle. The Tau 5.0 Liter engine purrs like an angry cat and accelerates the car from zero to sixty in under 5 seconds. The massive disc breaks do an amazing job of stopping the two … tons of fun.
My 2012 Genesis 5.0 has 106k miles on it and everything works just like new. The only repair has been to the driver seat lower cover which I had recently replaced with a new skin.
Big value awesome vehicle!
