Review

I've had my Geo for 13 yr's and driven it 235K miles. It has been a terrific car!!! SO VERY RELIABLE! GREAT GAS MILEAGE! AFFORDABLE REPAIRS ON THE RARE OCCASIONS THEY'RE NEEDED! There's not enough space to tell you how much we love this car and how great it has been for our quality of life - leaving us with $$$ for graduate school, vacations, house payments, etc. Much of its life we drove it commuting in Chicago. Now we live in the Rocky Mtn's and, while it gets around great on the winter roads with studded tires, it lacks the ground clearance needed for our super snowy rural driveway, so we're replacing it with an SUV :( Thanks for the memories Prizm!

Favorite Features

Reliability, Gas Mileage It stops great too! Its agility has saved us in several close encounters with wacko drivers, deer, elk, etc. Interior still looks virtually new after 13 yr's! A true legend - new mechanics are always amazed by its durability.

It's so great to see so many reviews that share my opinion on this wonderful vehicle! I wanted to buy a car that would NEVER fail me, and almost a decade later, the Prizm has consistently shown it's up to the task! Regular oil changes and routine maintenance keep my Prizm humming like it just rolled off the lot. I might even get it repainted.

I had purchased this car used a few years ago and was amazed with the quality of this small and understated little car. At 11 years and many miles later it handles and runs great. In regards to fuel, it takes so little to money fill this little car.If you search for a little quaint and dainty car this is a gem.

There wasn't a thing that I did not like about this car. It is a very understated car, so if you search for a hot car be sure to stay away from this car. If you are looking for a sensible car this one is it

My little car did not have rear frost defogger this made it a little difficult during the winter time.

Review

This was a great car, very reliable and took two rear-endings and one driver's side impact accident in five years and kept going strong. I pushed it with the number of miles I put on for my work, but with normal maintenance it performed very well.

This has been a good car. I have 89000 miles on it and hope to get another. Other than changing a starter at 64000 miles and I just changed the exhaust manifold. I would consider buying another Toyota product {This car is not a Chevy}.

Favorite Features

Body design is better than the Corolla.

Suggested Improvements

The only thing I wish is that I had a 5 speed manual or a 4 speed automatic, the 3 speed automatic makes the engine nosiy at high speeds.

Hope It Lasts Another 10 Years

Bought it in 1996 with 24000 miles on it; It now has 182,000 miles on it. Besides new brakes and tires, the only other thing I've had to replace is the starter. I change the oil every 5,000 miles; otherwise I hope it lasts another 10 years because it's been the most reliable car I've ever owned. Surprisingly comfortable driving it on the highway about 600 miles a week.

Favorite Features

Comfortable driver's seat; fold-down back seats with access to trunk.

Suggested Improvements

Maybe I should have gotten the bigger 1.8 L engine for more power, but then maybe I'd have had lots of problems, too.

This Geo was my fave of all my vehicles, I would DEFINATELY tell someone to buy one. I have had my jeep almost 10 years now it has broken down 1 time because of a timing belt, and that is it!!!!!!!!!!! VERY reliable vehicle, BUY ONE!

i got my prizm new in 1993, i always thought it looked better than its corrola counterpart. my biggest mistakes were that i didnt get the power window and locks option, and the bigger 1.8 engine. besides two alternator's and a starter replacement it's been very reliable. the brakes have always worked well, but have noticed a more spongey feel to them lately.inside the dash and instrument panels well placed and look good. overall this car has been worth it.

Favorite Features

car looks good from the outside, very good design much better than the corrola especially in the rear area. good emergency response, very surprising at times how well it manuvered.

Suggested Improvements

more, more, more power. in the city power was adequate, but merging into expressways could be frightening at times. engine wines loudly once u are cruising at 65 or above, more pronunced at 70, gets a little better above that.

This is flat out a great car. I'm a graduate student, and consequently I don't have a lot of money to spend on car repairs. My Geo was relatively trouble free and completely reliable. Only repair was a damaged coil at about 102,000. Unfortunately an idiot sixteen year-old girl plowed into my Geo Prizm the other day, so now I'm looking for a new Prizm. But if you want a nice car and don't have a lot of money to spend, definitely go with the Prizm LSi.

Favorite Features

Looks newer than it is, great reliability, peppy, just a nice car.

Suggested Improvements

Stereo is in an awkward place in the cabin, but that's my only complaint :-)

Review

bought our Prizm just before our first child... 4 children later, and 156,000 miles of driving everywhere our Prizm is still running without problem. All we ever did is regular maintenance outside of replacing an alternator. (after 8 years) this is a very reliable car.

Favorite Features

pop-down back seats, low profile tires, good handling, great gas mileage

cup holder - move it from in front of the radio... and small middle console.
