Good Post! Like the Freestyle, Ford should extend huge factory to dealer cash to clear the remaining 08s and new 09s. Additionally, I would guess that Ford would offer some great fleet prices for this car. The wholesale price for this car should continue to fall! Bottom line: Do not buy this car, yet!

The Ford Taurus X will be discontinued February 2009 when the 2009MY balances out. The cancellation of the Taurus X will allow us to provide a singular solution to our customers needing a seven-passenger crossover with the Ford Flex, a great vehicle that is both safe and stylish. Action: Please take note of the below key wholesale dates to mark your calendar and be sure to take advantage of the final ... Read More

Does anyone know if the Taurus and TaurusX will survive to see Ecoboost (small direct injected 4-cylinder with twin turbos, maybe 1.9L or so)? I've seen a couple of articles which came out within the past week stating that you will not. Nothing is official yet, but it seems the TX and the Mercury Sable are getting the axe after the 2009 MY. If they do survive another year and do ... Read More

I'm also a big fan of the Taurus X, and bought a T-X Limited two months ago. I also looked a lot at the Flex but just didn't like the square look of it. My nickname for the Flex is the maxi-mini. It looks like Ford may continue the T-X for another year into 2009, since the plant is making Taurus Sedans anyway, the production is done, and there's minimal cost ... Read More

No official word at all about the fate of the Taurus X. It's more the absence of word. When you hear all the official talk about the terrific new Taurus sedan design coming, you hear nothing about a new Taurus X design in the works. Also, the sales numbers are miserable, only around 3000 per month, which is hard to understand for a car with everything going for it. It could ... Read More

SO if you want a similar vehicle that is up to date, I'd suggest the Ford Flex (it's similar sized and comes to the market soon). Similar sized but not similar price. 2009 Ford Flex order guide 2009 Ford Flex price guide It seems to have a lot standard which follows Ford's recent announcement that they will be packaging trim levels similar to the Asian mfrs. I am overseas and I am about to buy one so that when I arrive it will be there for me. But now I am having second thoughts about it. I haven't driven one but my brother works at a ford dealer and says everyone really likes them. I need the room and it has great ratings. I just don't understand it just came out!!

I've seen many around my area so I was surprised. Not very appealing but very practical and roomy. Oh well, those Ford SUVs may be gaining terrain again. http://jalopnik.com/357692/goodbye-dave-taurus-x-to-say-farewell-by-2010 http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/19/rumormill-ford-taurus-x-cancelled-after-my-20- 09/

About Flex: the interior looks same as TX. The second row moves same as TX, even seat same. The space behind third row looks same as TX. I see where you're coming from now. The seats, floor and some other smaller details are very similar. I thought you were talking about the dash and other more obvious things like the insides of the doors, because they are very different. It makes a ... Read More

And it can't be all about looks either. Ford has to include some of the features from the concept, like the turbo 4 and six. Take this with a grain of salt right now, but the info I've read on a Ford forum is that the next Explorer, which will be unibody, is slated for production in Summer 2009 as a 2010 model. Right about the same time a new Taurus ... Read More

Well the way i see it, there will be a Ford Freestyle discussion forum just sitting idle if the forum moves to a Taurus X only discussion, as I said that really singles out the owners of the Freestyles and the shoppers who will be shopping for the 2009 Taurus X I would highly think they would know their Taurus X was once known as a Freestyle unless they haven't been ... That's why i like heated/ cooled leather. It's the one option I willingly pay for. Cracking leather-some is worse than others. Honda leather-sorry to offend any one but IT SUCKS. But in older dodge Caravans (8-10 years old) leather is GREAT with wear. Not exactly sure about oother model years. I do know the Montego's leather holds up pretty wel- so maybe it would in the 500/ FS, too. Chrysler has ... Read More

Exactly. The Flex has a Land Rover-ness to it that will serve it well. On the other hand, the Quest was radical like the 1996 guppy Taurus was radical. Sometimes radical is not attractive or appealing in any appreciable way. Also, think Honda Element or Scion xB v. Pontiac Aztec. while many people cannot stand the xB, some find it very appealing. The sunroof includes two windows above the second row and one above the third row. The Flex uses the same chassis as the Freestyle, not the Land Rover. If you look, you will note the proportions are similar to the FS/Taurus X--but more squared off. The Land Rover "look" should not hurt its chances in teh marketplace though. It looks more upscale than the FS. Too bad Ford is doing it ... Read More

I'm not wild about alpha-numeric names; mostly because I usually can't remember what car the name is referring to. Take a look around the forums - there are plenty of alpha-numeric names like Rick2456 and Barnstormer64. But those seem to be real names first, not initials like CX-7 and ML-320. And there aren't too many like 1487 (and I had to scroll through a few pages of the member list at ... Read More
