A passenger airbag is added to a redesigned dashboard, and new side-door guard beams meet 1997 passenger car safety standards. All-wheel drive is no longer available on regular-length models. Bumpers are restyled, and seats with integrated child seats can be reclined for the first time.

Dodge Caravan Transmission Warning
EW, 03/20/2003
1993 Dodge Caravan SE 3dr Minivan
This was the first of two Dodge
Caravan purchases. The 1993 has
192,000 miles and the 1996 has 152,000
miles. Both have the 3.0 engine. In
both vehicles, the engines are
extraordinarily reliable with VERY FEW
repairs. On the other hand, both have
needed transmissions within 70,000
miles and each van has had three
transmissions (two replacements
each). Neither … vehicle was used in
towing or hill climbing nor have they
been overloaded. Both were used for
daily commuting on the FLAT Chicago
area roadways. If it weren't for the
poor transmission quality, these would
be outstanding vehicles.

Good Choice

1994 Dodge Caravan SE 3dr Minivan
This is the 5th Caravan/Voyager I have owned, all but the one with the 3.0 engine have been excellent vehicles. My first one had the 2.5 4-banger, the rest have had the 3.3, and I have averaged between 190k-300k miles on them. I have back problems, and have not found a vehicle that rides and drives as good around town, or on long trips. I have never had the trans problems associated with … the vehicle, but I service my trans, every 75k-100k miles.

1993 Dodge Caravan 3dr Minivan
1 owner, leaking oil, new shocks, new
transmission, new front brake rotors
and calipers, new windshield, been
stolen once, failed aircare twice this
year after 10 years of abuse. the air
conditioner doesn't without making a
loud screeching noise. engine makes a
ticking noice when idling. automatic
transmission shifter feels uneasy.
