Mechanically sound vehicle; body rust is terrible!

2012 Chevrolet Suburban LTZ 1500 4dr SUV (5.3L 8cyl 6A)
We've owned our 2012 Suburban LTZ since new. I've kept up with all maintenance and I have to say, it's a mechanically sound vehicle. At 160,000 miles, it runs great although it burns a quart of oil every 4,000 miles and has since 100,000 miles. Despite waxing twice per year and car washes at least weekly, it began rusting after 7 years and 100,000 miles. First it was one corner of the … hood and then it was both rear quarter panels where they meet the bumper cover. GM refused to acknowledge this as unacceptable and claimed, "our engineers have never seen this before". It's a shame that a $60,000 vehicle (in 2012) began rusting after 7 years. For this reason and because GM refused to stand behind the problems, I have decided never to buy another GM vehicle.
