Updated 4/2009 Our car is a 2006 Cadillac DTS Lux III purchased new, now 3 yrs old. We took the car in April 2009 for a windshield washer recall. We have always had the car serviced at the dealer (we no longer have a dealer in Grass Valley, CA). When the car was ready after the windshield recall fix, they told us they did and update on the Engine Control Module ... Read More

Key word is virtually. Switch gear the same. Probably use the same multi task signal/washer/wiper/high beam stalk. Instrument cluster the same shape, though the DTS has chrome rings around the dials. Steering wheel the same, though instead of the bowtie you get the Cadillac crest in the middle. Take out the wood trim "bump" over the glove box area, making it a constant width, and tie together the horizontal wood trim ... Read More

  • 2009 Changes?

A recent post on the cadillac owners webpage indicated there would be an interior upgrade to the DTS in 2009. Anyone here heard about that? One of my bigger disappointments, after a long test drive in a 2008 DTS, was getting picked up by a friend in her 2007 Impala and noting that the dash design was virtually identical to the 2X priced DTS. Chevy used to be called the poor ... Read More

The skyhawk was one of the J-bodies along with chevy cavalier, pontiac sunbird (or J2000?), oldsmobile firenza, and Cadillac Cimarron. I bought the skyhawk because it had fuel injection (only buick that did) and also had automatic climate control as an option; the cimarron did not have the auto climate control. The current DTS is on a platform that will terminate at the end of the current production models; the DTS ... Read More

I think that the Ford GM six speed design was for FWDs, although I think the design is modular, so the six speed RWD design is probably related. However, putting the FWD six speed into the DTS and Lucerne will require some design changes for both the FWD northstar and the DTS/Lucerne transaxle. The question is whether the cost of doing this is worthwhile for the remaining production. As I said, ... Read More

I think the current FWD DTS will continue production through the 2009 model year, perhaps longer. The big question is what they do with the DTS next. The DeVille, now called the DTS, has been a prime seller for Cadillac since the 50's. Unless GM increased the production capacity of the sigma platform that the CTS, STS and SRX are based on, there is a limited production capacity for a sigma ... Read More

  • DTS 2006

    Written by: dispencer1 on May 17, 2004 5:16:09 PM

I understand that the 2006 DTS will be FWD and the major redesign and switch to RWD will come around 2009 or 10. The 2006 will be redesigned and there will be engine improvements but it won't be a totally new car . This information came from the Cadillac Forum.
