Acura will deny all claims and blame it on the car owner. I ended up putting in a new engine. They would only warranty a new engine for 1 year or 12k miles pretty much a joke. 2005 RSX type S with 29000 miles, driving in a 55mph zone engine starts rattling and then comes apart. Acura refuses to warranty ANYTHING! will not give me ANY specific reason. I've never heard of that either. Are you sure that the "body shop" knows what a throttle even is? The body shop should repair the body and have the Acura dealer repair the engine. In 2005, Toyota switched from cable-based throttles to electronic throttles on several models. I've got a 2004 Acura RSX Type-S. I use the Fuel Log at GasBuddy to track my MPG. In 2005 I logged an average of 28.91 MPG. This was mostly highway driving at around 70 MPH. The best I ever got was on one trip home from another state on secondary roads averaging around 50 MPH, I got 34.16 MPG on that trip. So far in 2006, I'm averaging 28.4 MPG. ... Read More

Yes, the type-R is better than the RSX-S, with 10 more hp (due to better gas, I think), and the limited-slip differential. However, the RSX-S is more luxurious... it has leather seats, which are too slippery and wide for me (as does the Integra type-S... which appears to be the RSX-S?). I'm trying to decide between a new 2005 Acura RSX AT or 2005 RSX AT that was the dealer/demo car and has 7,400 miles on it. The latter has been certified and now has a 100,000 mile/7 year warranty and is listed for $19,000. Is that a good price (new and used are base and have no added options) or should I just go for the new car?

Hey, After some vigorous internet nego, i got my 2005 RSX-S at $21500 at Santa Monica Acura. The best offer I got was 21400, but I didn't want to drive down the Van Nuys. Total OTD cost 23100 with all the fees and taxes and stuff. I would highly recommend Santa Monica. No high pressure, everyone was very nice, and no funny business on the contract. GFalls

I'm thinking about picking up a 2005 RSX and was suprised to see that the JD Power Mechanical evaluation of the RSX was just average...putting it on par with the Mazda3 and other what I at least consider cars of lesser quality. I'm curious as how you get those insane numbers. I consider myself a moderate driver and cannot get those mpg numbers you get. At best I could probably get 28 mpg with my 2005 Acura RSX automatic, but typically get 25 mpg as is stated on the sticker.

I agree. I have a 2002 RSX-S and didn't have any problems dd123 mentioned. The shifter is smooth and my car doesn't smell like rotten eggs. dd123, yes the tires suck as does the sound system, but they can easily be upgraded aftermarket at a reasonable expense. If you get a base, I'd recommend the 2002-2004 over 2005 since it's faster (fact) and looks better (opinion) not to mention cheaper ... Read More

I just bought a 2005 Acura RSX Type-S, Vivid Blue Metallic for 23,100, before tax and plates. You might be able to get a few more hundred off, but I felt it was a fair price being it is a 2005 model purchased in September 2004. It is a fun car to drive. I recommend it. Good luck. Have just seen the new Ford Focus 2005 preview at http://www.Fordvehicles.com/2005focus and it looks amazing... completely different from the old Sedan SE or ZX3 or ZX5.
