Re: 2002 RSX - Type S (problems & 1 solution) [djromesburg]
Written by: nitromax on Jan 31, 2006 3:34:34 AM
I can't understand how crappy this car is, my first Acura and my last. I bought my 2005 brand new and as of Jan 2006, I only have 57k miles on my car. ONLY 57K miles? Do you ever get out of your car? :-) HOWEVER as I was told; UNLESS ACURA has a recall on this, ANYTHING outside of the warranty period isn't covered UNLESS Acura has a recall. Suprisingly ... 2002 RSX - Type S (problems & 1 solution)
Written by: djromesburg on Jan 30, 2006 8:51:14 AM
I can't understand how crappy this car is, my first Acura and my last. I bought my 2005 brand new and as of Jan 2006, I only have 57k miles on my car. My service history is incredibly long and even the person at the service counter couldn't believe how much work I've had done and it still continues... last year when I was under warranty my "side airbag off" indicator ... UPDATE: rsx strut mount
Written by: blueeyez1616 on Nov 14, 2005 5:30:38 PM
Last Friday I spoke with a representative from Acura Corp. about the strut noise. According to them.... ur gonna laugh at this: "this is a normal characteristic of the car, and at this time there is no repair, but they will notify me within 30-90 days for a resolution". A friend of mine has a late model rsx 2005 who has had the same problem for over a year, and has ... Read More

Unexpected Engine Fire
Written by: jbrunet on Nov 10, 2005 9:09:08 AM
In June of this year I had a very low speed accident where I rear-ended the person in from of me with my brand new 2005 RSX. I was probably going about 20 kms/hr. Immediately upon impact as the airbag went off, a fire erupted from under my hood and crept up over the car. Out of shock and the impact of the air bag I passed out and was fortunately ... Read More

Acura has lost all my attention thanks to the defects!
Written by: blueeyez1616 on Nov 9, 2005 5:42:08 PM
I bought a new 2006 rsx 2 months ago. It has been in the shop 3 times in the last 2 months. I have driven the loaner TL (that i adore, if i could afford it) for more than i've driven my rsx. The strut mounts on my car on both sides have been replaced twice for no reason at all. The clicking noise does NOT go away no matter what ... Read More

2005 RSX - Engine noise when above 60 mph
Written by: heejoman on Oct 20, 2005 9:28:47 AM
I got a RSX as a loaner couple times. I like them a lot. One drove fine. However, one of them had a engine noise that bothered me. It created a whirling noise when it reached above 60 mph. It's hard to describe but it's like saying "woe woe woe woe . . " semi slowly at a pitch of Curlee in 3 Stooges but in monotone). I drove above 60 ... Read More

Hey, I wanted to lease a 2005, but couldn't find any before Sept 6th (or since then for that matter). So I'm looking into a 2006 lease now. One quote I got was: MSRP $20,895 Cap $19,900 Lease factor .00250 Residual 58% 36/12k Per Month $302.17 Acq. fee $595 Reg & tags $179 ( 3yr ) De.tax $547 Due at signing $1623.17 So about $300/month with $1623 due at signing. Written by: Car_man on Sep 12, 2005 3:14:45 AM
Hey bedi. I hate to say this, but it looks as though you have to renegotiate your deal if you didn't get your car yet because Acura's September program is completely different than its August program. Acura replaced the special lease money factor that it was providing on the 2005 RSX with $500 dealer cash. If you want to lease this car through AHFC in September you will have to use ... Read More

Written by: Car_man on Sep 5, 2005 12:57:02 PM
Hi bedi. Acura's current lease program on the 2005 RSX is a pretty good deal. Not only are the residual values for Acuras usually fairly strong, but it is using a special lease money factor of .00040 to calculate the interest portion of this car's payment. This is equivalent to an interest rate of slightly under one percent. If you decide that you want this car, make sure to negotiate its ... Read More

get the type R!!
Written by: carlisimo on Jun 29, 2005 1:39:22 AM
Yes, the type-R is better than the RSX-S, with 10 more hp (due to better gas, I think), and the limited-slip differential. However, the RSX-S is more luxurious... it has leather seats, which are too slippery and wide for me (as does the Integra type-S... which appears to be the RSX-S?). The type-R has Recaro racing seats. Also, the RSX-S has a lot of sound insulation. I don't know if the ... Read More

Sure hope so! that Type-R looks very sweet, limited slip diferential, momo wheel, brembo breakes, and this page i found estimates the 0-60 at arround 5.5 secs, but they have a desclaimers that is a power calculation and not from a road test. Macau is very wierd as far as cars go, we get some stuff then don't get other and there are many diferent car dealers, there is no "Honda" ... Read More

Picked up a 2005 RSX on Saturday.
Written by: k_laster on Jun 27, 2005 2:01:12 PM
Saturday I picked up a 2005 Acura RSX Type S for $21,582. Since you're on edmunds, you'll see that's 3$ over invoice. I absolutely love my RSX, and have already put 300+ miles on it. If you're anywhere in the midwest, I suggest going to Acura of Libertyville. It took me a little bit over an hour to walk out and get in my brand new Type S. No hassle car ... Read More

Demo car worth it?
Written by: ca869 on Jun 9, 2005 11:00:43 AM
I'm trying to decide between a new 2005 Acura RSX AT or 2005 RSX AT that was the dealer/demo car and has 7,400 miles on it. The latter has been certified and now has a 100,000 mile/7 year warranty and is listed for $19,000. Is that a good price (new and used are base and have no added options) or should I just go for the new car?

I know that the new 2005 Type-S has 5-blade 17" wheels. This may sound like a stupid question but I want to know. On the pictures of the base 2005 RSX im seeing it with 6 spoke wheels. But on the Acura sight, they say it has 5 spoke wheels and in the build and price thing, it shows 5 spokes. I don't know if this info has been released, but ... Read More

Random RSX thoughts ...
Written by: beowulf7 on Sep 26, 2004 3:29:08 PM
Wendy, congrats on your 2005 RSX-S. Keep us updated on how it's treating you (and vice versa, LOL). Nippon, I also agree w/ you that the RSX seats are very comfortable and keep you in place nicely. Also, the crappy Michelin tires are pretty loud on imperfect roads. The engine can get loud when you hit 75-80 MPH. I just test drove the Matrix yesterday (Sat.). I have absolutely no interest ... Hey, congrats on joining the 5-figure odometer club. :) :( If Acura could do all those things we want (AWD, 2.2 L engine doing 240 HP, HID headlights, better sound system, and maybe power driver seats) for $25k, I'd consider that a very good value. My warranty runs out in 2006, but I don't think a major redesign will have been done by then. Acura will probably offer new/different colors and ... Read More

I agree that the extra 10 HP that the 2005 RSX-S will have will not be that noticeable since: a.) you need to rev higher (max HP is now at 7800 RPM vs. 7400 RPM that the 2002-2004 RSX-S have) and b.) the 2005 RSX-S weighs about 70-80 lbs. more than the 2002-2004 model. I'm not really digging the triple circles that Acura uses for the new RSX's headlights and taillights. ... Read More
