The Integra Type R's simple instrumentation is straightforward and easy to scan. No silly tunnels or multiple levels here. 2001 Acura Integra Type R Wheel 2001 Acura Integra Type R Headlamp Detail The Integra Type R's tires are modest in size but super sticky. It's the essential element in giving the car such a light, fling-tastic feel. The Integra Type R's shifter is among the very best. All that's missing is a 6th gear so the engine can relax at freeway speeds. The Integra Type R's cargo bay is plain except for an additional brace across its back. Hit the center of the Integra Type R's steering wheel and all that results is a bruise on your hand. The upper spokes contain two small horn buttons. Separate headlight elements like those on the Integra Type R are rare now that most cars use plastic buckets at their front corners with integrated head- and signal lights. There's more wear around the Integra Type R's chrome exhaust tip than any place else on the car. The Type R's engine runs counterclockwise and is positioned to the left in its engine bay. Essentially it's a mirror image of the Civic Si's engine bay. The Integra Type R's seats are soft, supple and well-shaped. The Type R's pedals may be ho-hum, but the car to which they're attached isn't. 2000 Acura Integra 2 Dr GS Hatchback In the '90s grille-less designs like the Integra were popular. It's probably the single most dated element of the Type-R's styling. Off the line, neither of these cars offers much in the way of initial punch. But the lighter weight of the Integra eventually pays off in better straight-line performance. Elements may be outdated, but the Integra's interior fits like a glove. And big spoilers effectively block some rearward visibility. The Integra Type R doesn't even have map lights. That's a big spoiler on the back of the Type R.
