Used 2021 Volvo XC40 Consumer Reviews
Can't wait until my lease is up!
I hate writing bad reviews, but I have to say that this car has been a major disappointment -- wish I had kept my Honda CRV Touring instead. The heating and cooling controls are super-confusing, and seem to have a mind of their own (despite reading the Owner's manual to set my preferences, etc.), the car uses premium gas which I hadn't realized prior to leasing, and the car is much smaller capacity-wise than my CRV. And oh...............I will NEVER again get a car without a retractable trunk cover. The hardcover in my Volvo actually hurts to touch (think fiberglass pieces getting stuck in you hand), and I now keep the cover stowed away as it is so impractical and ouchy.......The car is cute to look at, I like the sound of the stereo, and it drives well enough but I liked driving my CRV just as well (if not better...............). I'm taking the car in next week to repair of a recall issue, and to check for what might be a potential leak of some sort near the front of the car.............sad as I have less than 8,000 miles on the thing..........

Get the lava if you can.
I'm Volvo for life so I'm biased but this might be my favorite Volvo I've ever owned. If you like Volvos give this a spin.

Sporty - Classy - Safe
This is my 3rd Volvo. While the seats are not as great as my older XC60, they are still way better than everything else I've ever been in. I wish CarPlay was full screen. The Pilot assist functionality is great - it is demanding of holding the wheel while in use, but I get why. I enjoy it's rather peppy T5. Visibility out of the rear side/doors is less than stellar - but BLIS makes that somewhat of a non issue.

Nice but fails to impress
The infotainment system is terrible, navigation fails to understand voice requests and even picks its own destination to follow. Try cancelling it with voice, not a chance. Weather app hasn't got a clue, shows "sprinkles" during gale force wind and rain??? Safety features are hit and miss, I've slowly hit a hedge when reversing and nothing happens?? Petrol version fuel economy is worse than my 2002 van and the rain pours in if you want a window open during inclement weather. Comfort is average (a personal thing really) and viability is poor, both in good and bad weather. Back to BMW once the lease is up.
