Terrible SUV!

I have a 2018 Tiguan that I bought brand new. It has been full of problems since the beginning. There is a constant noise from the B side pillar that comes and goes as it pleases. The transmission is extremely jerky. It is so bad the first couple of shifts that I have to apologize to the people in the car with me and tell them that this is not the first time I have driven a vehicle. There are times that the vehicle feels like it wants to stall out when you have to pull out quickly. I have a bunch of stains on my ceiling now that continues to get worse (I am not spilling anything on it). I constantly get errors while driving. Some errors say, "Only exit the vehicle in park" and "You are now in emergency transmission mode". They go away when I restart the vehicle. The list goes on and on. Stay away from the Tiguan!

Recalls Drastically Reduced Value of Vehicle

Attracted to car because of the brightness of LED ambient lights which gave full lighting to panoramic sunroof. Soon after driving, this feature was recalled with no manufacturer repair within the year and six months I have driven the car while I am still paying full price to lease this Lemon. I am nearing the end of the Lemon Law process and will soon go to state arbitration if approved.

Disappointed

We have owned 6 VW's over the past 18 years, without serious issues, (they were all used) this was our first brand new one. We had to get the dealer to check the passenger front strut as it was clunking, told that it is most likely the bearing pack, but not worn enough to justify warranty work?? The car was only 5 months old! Now after just over a year the driver side is clunking just as bad and the fuel door won't close - at all! Unfortunately we purchased the vehicle about an hour's drive from where we live and the closest dealer is not what I would call "trustworthy". During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to get it back to the dealer we purchased from as the work needs to be completed. Not sure when we will get the opportunity to get the work done. This has left my wife with a really sour taste in her mouth, she loves the vehicle, especially the third row with convenience package but is disappointed with a brand new vehicle having so many issues within 15 months of ownership.

Useless 3rd row seats

My wife & I recently leased a 2018 Tiguan, BIG MISTAKE! The car has a 3rd row that becomes useless once you install a child seat in the 2nd row! Whoever is sitting in the 3rd seat has to squeeze very tight to get in. Imagine there is an accident & your child needs to free themselves from the 3rd row! My wife calls the 3rd row on the Tiguan" Cage of death " . It's a design flaw that I'm stunned VW would so ignore while designing this car We are now stuck with a car that can only seat 2 of our 3 kids!! 3rd child is too young to sit in the front, small area to sit in the middle & the 3rd row is almost not accessible!

Sudden Acceleration

New VW Tiguan upon entering Garage lurched forward with full speed to cause damage of $10k and destroyed the Garage wall to make a big hole in to cost over 8k and more as garage entrance door and garage opener pulleys were all messed up. Police Report due soon. If VW USA does not compensate it will be subject of litigation. I expect lease payments to cease from Nov 15 and an equivalent sized new SUV purchased. Sadly it seems the electronics of the Car failed to control the sudden surge in speed. Luckily no one was injured!
