Good but small SUV

Good but small SUV, to my taste. The cabin is hushed, the engine is not intrusive unlike in RAV4, though also a 4 cyl and a turbo on top of that. Eats up potholes very well. Brakes are one of the best ones, cornering and steering feel is very precise. Transmission is smooth and shift quickly and when needed. On the downside, the accelerator pedal is not very sensitive and is too stiff for me. The car does not respond immediately to the pedal input (either a turbo lag or just a pedal being too stiff). You notice a huge difference when you release the accelerator pedal, the car almost jolts and doesn't roll, what other cars normally do. Also limited visibility from the front.

Let's face it-you can get from point A to point B in almost any vehicle. But if you are in the market for a small SUV and want to go in style, you can't go wrong with a Tiguan! Handling is very responsive, the ride very quiet and controlled, and visibility is great, including upward with the full length sun roof. The Tiguan is solidly built and the doors close with a satisfying "thunk". I have had my Tiguan for about 2 months (white gold with cashmere interior-very classy) and am getting 30 MPG (admittedly mostly highway).

Beware of the Tiguan engines

Needs new engine ($6000-$8500) after only 110,000 miles... seems to be a thing with these... google tiguan timing chaing. Also had numerous panoramic roof leaks, engine needed to be "de-carbed," and the rear main seal fix was $1600... because a $100 part failed. That part should be replaced every year to skip the rear main seal failure.
