Betta Getta a Jetta
I leased my 2019 Jetta SEL trim and I’ve had it for about 4 months now. No problems whatsoever and I live in NY. Definitely makes me feel like I have spent a lot more money, those standard LED headlights and tail lights makes it even more premium. Interior is really premium as well, not luxurious but definitely premium. I love everything about my Jetta and this is my first time getting a VW vehicle.
Good price, poor quality
Poor quality have had 5 issues in less than 5 months. Dealer says one issue is normal, the grinding of brakes. You can judge for yourself if you'd like, my review is on youtube Under "Volkswagen VW 2019 Jetta review with all 5 issues". The issue I'm most concerned with is the brakes and you can hear the "normal" 3 minutes into the video. Everyone I know says it's not regular. 30 years of driving and never heard. It's great having a warranty but when you bring it in for the third time and they say there's nothing wrong it's pointless. They even said other customers have complained but that's how Volkswagens sound. Crazy. Of course there's the other issues including a back panel popping off and a recall for water leaks. Very very disappointed. Did I say very?

Almost 5 Stars
I have had this Jetta for 1 year and 15,000 miles. The gas mileage has been excellent; I have gotten 44-46 mpg driving interstate from IA to NM, WY, and ND. It is quiet. It handles very well in high wind conditions. On the trips to WY and ND, I did not realize how strong the headwind was until I stopped at a rest stop. It can be a little sluggish from a stop because the transmission shifts at low rpm to increase mpg, preventing the engine from generating momentum. If I need a quick start or am merging into heavy traffic, I shift the transmission into Sport and that improves the take-off noticeably. The handling can be improved by setting the Driving Mode Selection to Custom mode and then change the Steering to Sport; I have been satisfied with the result. The driver's seat is ventilated. How much do I like that? I will never buy another vehicle without ventilated seats. It is a very comfortable seat (I am 5'9", 190 lbs). The passenger seat is disappointing. I can only take this on long trips when I am by myself. Any trip over 3 hrs at best causes my wife's back to stiffen. VW really needs to give the passenger seat at least a manual vertical adjustment. The mpg is great for saving money on a long trip but we have to drive our Audi Q5 for passenger comfort. Interior: a little much hard plastic but not unreasonable for the price. The infotainment system is excellent. The screen is a nice size. The Virtual Cockpit is very nice. The Beats audio sounds very good although I'm not an audiophile so what do I know. I like the navigation better than Google or Apple Maps but there is 1 glitch - it will stay on interstates to a fault. For example, I drove from Kansas City to Hugoton, KS. The logical route is I-70 to KS-156, leading to Hugoton by a diagonal. The navigation will, instead, take you all the way west to a highway in western KS, then south before backtracking east to Hugoton. Following that route takes an extra hour. The problem is avoided by adding a stopover along the preferred route. My service manager and I checked all 2019 VWs with Navigation on his lot and found this is a system problem with VWs software; we reported it to VW last July but I haven't heard of a correction. For my efforts diagnosing the problem and dealing with the difficulties it caused me until I figured it out, VW gave me a free 10,000 and 20,000 service package which I appreciated. The only other dislike I have with this trim level is that I think the wheels are ugly and dull. In the brochure and website, the wheels appear much more shiny than they really are. I even waxed them to brighten them up. The other trim on the car is a bright chrome so it just doesn't match visually. I suppose it's dumb (and my wife has suggested that whenever I mention it) but I'm always vaguely annoyed that I bought a car that I don't really like looking at. I just get inside quickly. Overall, I am glad I bought this Jetta and enjoy driving it. VW really needs to improve the front passenger seat and get the navigation bug fixed since that package is a $1,000 extra; those things are costing the car a 5-star rating. Other than that, I have no meaningful complaints. After 3 years and 32,000 miles: My likes and dislikes have not changed. I have had no problems with this car. I replaced the Continental tires that came with this car with Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires and the difference in handling and traction has been huge. This is probably partly due to the age of the previous tires but it never handled this crisply before. After 4.5 years and 42,000 miles: I have had no problems with this car. I only wish the front passenger seat could be elevated so it was comfortable enough for long trips, especially when gas prices are high. 5 years and 48,000 miles: I'm thinking about trading it for a new Jetta only because the warranty is for 50,000 miles. It has been trouble-free. Rides well. Next one would have a heated steering wheel, which would be nice to have during an Iowa winter.

Awesome R Line
Got the 2019 VW Jetta R-Line one month ago and I am truly delighted. I also have a 2018 Jaguar XE and surprisingly the Jetta R-Line has significant more rear passenger room. The black grille and 17" wheels are beautiful. The infotainment connecting Apple Car play gives me satellite radio without having to pay for it, as well as navigation.

The Baby Audi
Only have 700 miles on the odometer so far but that includes a 400 road trip. Many nice features but my favorites are: led headlights with auto highbeam, radar based cruise control with adjustable sensitivity combined with lane keeping assist, active safety features, and amazing fuel economy. The peace of mind from the 6 year/72k warranty is pretty nice as well. I spent several months winnowing down to the Jetta SEL and would make the same choice if I had it to do all over again . Congrats to VW on a great sedan, loaded with features and tech, at a great price.

Well, WTH else could you expect German/Price !
I drove cars from 5 other makers. This was the BEST overall packaging of ANYTHING /EVERYTHING I test drove...For ALL that you get in the SEL Premium, simply zero Competition. This car did it for me. I've owned 4 Audis... 2 A4s and 2 TTs... This is a great project on the part of VW to integrate the very essence of Audis into and onto this car. For MY MONEY, and the local discount, NOTHING else ( all higher in price than mine at $28K) came close. A car that is just so easy to drive and enjoy it! Add Habanero Orange Pearl and Light Gray/Beige Leather, and you are the gathering at every gas station fill up... "WHAT IS THAT-a VW? Never seen one like THAT !" Me neither...( always room for improvement on ANY vehicle, but as to this one, at this price, it is DAMN GOOD !) add the new 6 year /72,000 Warranty and Bingo-Write it up !!! Kudos VW !!!

VW not being honest again-they say the is “normal”
Our 2016 Jetta engine was way better. VW does not admit to engine torque-shifting-griding issues. Many complaints on line and maybe could be fit with software. In 3 and 4th gears it shifts quickly when only at 1800rpm then goes to 1400. Shifts way too early. VW keeps claiming it is”normal”. Also 2016 mpg was way better. This one is much worse and get 27mpg around town vs the 34. Not sure if their mpg is honest again. Burns oil because of the transmission problem. For the largest automaker with tons of technology, don’t know why they can’t get a basic thing correct or cutting corner in not correcting before rollout. Unfortunately Probably our last VW after the lease is up.
My Jetta is betta
Great car and extremely high tech with everything you could wish for. Galpin Volkswagen and Nef Gonzalez are truly the best and completely knowledgeable and professional. If you are thinking of buying a car Galpin is the only sensable choice The triptronic mode is a real plus for acceleration and slowing down with 8 speeds.Great car at a great price.

Classy and Sporty all in One!
The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta is a car that in my opinion hits above its weight class. The exterior while plain and simple is modern and looks alot like its Audi brothers with LED lights that are crisp and clear. The monochromatic black grill is edgy and sporty giving it a personality that other "economy" cars simply cannot match. Then you find yourself in the interior, yes it has a manual seat however it is easy to use, and get to the perfect setting. The infotainment is angled toward the driver and is driver centric. Gets great gas mileage and is effortless to drive leaving you refreshed when you leave the cabin. Overall look at Jetta over civic and Coralla and Mazada 3 you will not be disappointed

VW has done it again
I traded my 2016 Jetta for a 2019 Jetta. I was going in to trade for a Passat but the new Jetta design caught my eye. I never made it to the Passat. I was sold the minute I saw the new Jetta. I really liked my 2016 but it doesn’t compare to my 2019 Jetta. The ride is very smooth. The features that come with the base model are great. Side traffic sensors and the front and rear sensors are nice features to have not to mention the rear back up camera. It doesn’t feel like a small car. I have plenty of room and it’s not a cramped up feeling when hauling four passengers. I’m very pleased with the new design and I’m sure it will serve me well. My 2016 Jetta had 120,000 mile with no issues and I’m sure my 2019 will be as dependable.

PLENTY OF ROOM AND SMOOTH RIDE!
I purchased used with 30k miles. I have had for a little over a month now. I am very surprised and happy with the smooth quality ride. In the past, I have driven many cars including luxury cars and the smooth ride of the 2019 Jetta is up there with the best of them. Love the modern design and larger dimensions, that give just enough room to be comfortable and carry plenty of luggage. The radio with Android Auto is a plus as is all the standard safety features. I would definitely recommend.

6 Speed is a Great Deal
6 month update - Still running strong and great gas mileage. For those of you who wonder if Premium gas makes a difference??? YES!!! While it drives fine with regular gas, premium gives it a significant boost in power so it seems. At least it's very noticeable with a stick shift. Also, changed out the factory stereo speakers with better ones. Sound is improved but still not the best. I added an AEM cold air intake which also gave the car more HP and a great sound at low RPM. However, it dropped the gas mileage in town about 2mpg-- mainly due to me wanting to drive fast all the time... I also added some new 17" wheels which make the car look 100% better than stock. All in all it's turned out to be a great vehicle. I found a leftover 2019 S model a couple of months ago and got a great deal on it. I was looking specifically for a 6 speed. Compared to the only other cars in its segment the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and the Kia Forte it's a great car for the price. First of all you can't beat the warranty. 6 years bumper to bumper is fantastic.. on par with Kia and much better than the others. That alone is worth buying this car for. I won't talk much about the Kia in this review because in my eyes the Kia didn't match up at all. The baseline Forte feels cheap and slow... no comparison. The price is similar or even cheaper.. but that's where it ends. I don't see how the Kia always seems to rank higher in reviews than the Jetta.. Maybe it's the case if you get the premium versions of each vehicle... the Kia might be a better vehicle... but still slow. As a matter of fact... the Kia and Honda have essentially the same engines on paper but the Honda is soooo much better. However, compared to VW's 1.4 turbo they can't compare. Honda does offer it's 1.5 turbo which is of course better than the 1.4 but you pay for it. How it's better: 1. It feels and is faster than the baseline Sport Civic with the 2.0l engine. The Civic is probably a better car overall but you're paying for it. The Corolla is a bit faster but was also more expensive and seemed to have less room. Bottom line on this....if you want a car with much more low end torque get the Jetta... otherwise get the Corolla. 2. The gas mileage is fantastic and you don't loose out by getting the stick shift. I consistently get in the mid 30s mpg mixed driving. 3. Standard safety features are good and work well. I like to have blind spot monitoring which wasn't avail in the Civic in the Sport model. The Corolla has all those things but it again was much more expensive. 4. The ride is quiet, smooth, and typical VW. You'll never know that it has a torsion beam in the back instead of independent suspension. If you take it on the track there may be issues, but otherwise it's great 5. The seats are comfortable despite there being no lumbar adjustment. Then again, seats are different for everyone 6. The technology works well. Apple Car Play and Android Auto work as designed and the radio is easy to operate. 7. Little things that matter such as all four windows have auto up and down... typical of high end cars; What's not so good: 1. The stereo is absolutely terrible... However, the Civic and Corolla also have terrible stereos. 2. The interior is not as nice as previous Jettas but on par with everything else. The dash has the tendency to rattle a bit over rough streets but only at times. The fit and finish is good but again not like a Civic or Corolla. Then again the price was right. 3. While the base model comes with aluminum wheels, they are not the nicest and are a small diameter. Compared to a Sport Civic or Corolla S it's no comparison. Again... the price must be right in this case. Overall, the Baseline Jetta can be a great deal if you get it for the right price and if you are wanting a car to keep for many years. The Jetta has much more power than a sport Civic but does not have the resale value. The Corolla is also nice but even more than a Civic when comparing stick shifts. The Kia is just plain cheap feeling, smaller, and slower. I love the VW engine. Not sure why VW went away from the 1.8l but this engine is almost just as fast. The low end pick up feels much like driving a diesel. You have to shift less and you always have power especially around town. Heck, it's geared to so you only have to shift twice to get to 60 mph in a race. Again... there are better cars out there but for a stick shift this is a great deal.

What is not to like
Bought an S that was a dealer loaner. The car is certified with a 12,000 mile warranty that kicks in after the factory warranty. Also got a 25% discount. The car is much more than I expected. More than enough power, great ride, handles great, trunk space is awesome and i have gotten a lot of compliments on the looks. Gas mileage is out if sight. For a base model with “driver assist package” you get a lot of bang for your buck. Very happy with my Jetta.

Great sedan for a college student
Just bought the car a week ago. Overall the car is riding smoothly. The cars design is really stylish and nice especially in the dark gray and black colors. The LED lights are great in the night. Will see how the car holds up in the years to come.

VW has quality and reliability issues!
We decided to try the new VW Jetta instead of the Honda Civic for a change. This was a big mistake. The new Jetta has good standard features vs. Honda Civic, and that ends there. The Jetta has rattling noises after few thousand miles, window problem, suspension issues, and transmission oil leaking at 20k miles. It’s a nightmare! Never going to get another VW.

Little Rocket
My goal was to get an economical car that offered some luxury features. The Jetta R Line fit the bill. I'm short, approaching 50, and I'm weary of buying premium gas for a luxury spaceship. Now I spend half as much on gas and am saving 1/3 in insurance. The 4 cylinder is peppy and fun to drive, it's easy to maneuver in traffic, the blind spot sensors are accurate, and it takes potholes like a champ. The backup camera warns you if something enters your path. I do agree that the "leather" feels plasticky, but it's rugged too. I plan to give this car to my son when he graduates college in four years.

Super Value Loaded SEL
This car gives the safety features found in much more expensive cars. It handles well and is comfortable and roomy. The Beats sound system is almost audiophile quality. It drives more like an Audi than a VW. Larger and more value for the money than a Corolla or Civic and more luxurious. I would get the SEL trim since it is not much more than the R trim and gives more safety technology. Not a rocket but more than adequate acceleration for most people.

2019 VW Jetta S Manual
Was floored at how inexpensive the manual S model was and the features it has. Driving, it has the typical VW feel we love. Interior is all VW. Simple and classy interior and controls. 1.4L engine is surprising torquey and powerful. This car is all VW. Highway mileage is mid 40s easy. Averaging 38 mpg. Drives great, is very quiet. 54,000 miles. Zero problems.

Test Drive Big Disappointment
Good technology. Quiet smooth ride. As Edmunds comments interior is meh, lackluster, plasticky looking. Deal breaker is handling. Too softly sprung. Took a mild curve on a highway exit ramp at 50; car leaned way too much, and started plowing. Same curve, same speed, with my 2016 Jetta Sport no lean, no plowing. Same story for my previous car a 2006 Jetta TDI. 2019 Jetta SEL Premium has upgrade from 16 inch wheels to 17 inch wheels. 12/9/2020 As a result of this test drive bought a 2017 MK6 Jetta in July of this year; going over the car (former lease car) didn't check seat heaters. Come cold weather found both front seat heaters dead; repaired under warranty 1 week from expiration of warranty, only a few miles under 36k. While car was being repaired, had a 2020 Jetta SEL service loaner. One upgrade for the 2020 Jetta SEL is going from 16" wheels to 17". Tried the service loaner at the same speed, on the same exit ramp mentioned above; the 2020 SEL took the curve with very little leaning, and no plowing. Problem solved. 6/10/2023 MK7 Jetta 1.4 engine good for low speed acceleration; passing powerlacking, works but slow, engine revs high, noisy. Starting with 2022 engine is 1.5, better highway speed passing power. 6/12/2025 - Now driving a 2023 Jetta SEL; loveit.

Baby AUDI
I leased the SEL model and I feel the car has all I asked for. I only miss the power seats. Feels super powerful for a 1.4 liter as long as you’re not driving with 5 passengers and full trunk. If your life calls for all that cargo, this is not the type of car you need. Gas millage is superb. It really gets 35+ mpg so great gas saver. Technology is awesome, but it takes a while to master all the bells and whistles. I have encounter a couple of issues, which I am sure the warranty will take care of it: 1. driver seat window makes a loud noise going up and down. 2. grinding sound on the engine/transmission when going from 25mph to 35mph. I have read many blogs regarding this issue and I am sure VW must be working on it. As for any new fully redesigned car, the manufacturer has to iron out some wrinkles along the way. these issues aside, I consider that this car offers the best bang for the buck in the segment.

Love this peppy car
I traded a 2014 E350 Mercedes Benz with a v6 and 0-60 in 6 secs. I don't miss it. My 2019 Jetta has a long warranty, which owning a Mercedes I now value more then I ever did (in over 50 years of owning cars). The MPG is so darn good that I keep thinking I should get gas when the tank is still half full. The Jetta is smooth. Shift the automatic to sport mode, and this car will accelerate to any degree a sane driver would ever want to. Shifts really smooth, the ride is comfortable and it's reasonably quiet. Compared to a new Honda Civic, the Jetta is quicker, more of a luxury feel. Apple Car Play comes standard on the base model and that enables the maps navigation which is great, and updates are free and automatic. Should have gotten the full climate control where I set a temp and the car does the rest. The SEL has anything you'll ever want. As far as getting a larger motor, fahgetaboutit, the 2.0l Turbo has the same torque as the standard 1.4l Turbo. I don't know how VW does it. But the 1.4 gets over 40mpg, almost 50 in eco mode on a flat interstate. Update 17,000 miles and 1 year later. Still love the car. No issues requiring repair. I just read what others say about the car, and there are some folks who don't like the ECO mode. Ok, I can see what they're saying, BUT!, use the dang SPORT mode for cryin out loud, it solves the concerns. Other then that, this car is what others promise but don't deliver, blindspot detection, rear cross traffic warning ( saved my wallet when a neighbor ran, yes ran, toward the back of my car when I backed out of the driveway. manure for brains neighbor detection I call it), this and that, all for under 20K. And it handles well, drives great. And so far, it lasts. But, you need to use the 508 spec oil, which is expensive, and the usual car places do not use because they get it cheap in bulk. Because of the turbo and advanced engineering of this motor, VW/Audi has a special oil developed to carry the stress. You'd be well advised to have the oil changed at the dealer, and then check it that it has the green dye. It ain't cheap. The rest of the service intervals are typical VW, no worries, no fuss.

It has been a whirlwind
I am saddened to have to leave this review. I was so excited to lease my 2019 Jetta and now I truly wish I never had. I leased the Jetta in September of 2019. Since then, I have brought it back to the dealership to be worked on 5 times. I scheduled service three separate times for a check engine light (with one of those times including a window malfunction), once for the A/C not working properly and the most recent time being for the infotainment system’s audio and back up camera malfunctioning. This simply should not happen with a brand new car. When I noticed the A/C wasn’t working properly, I brought my frustrations about the car to the dealership and asked if they could someone get me out of my lease because I do not trust this car. I was told to reached out to VW’s customer service because the problem was “out of their control”. Through customer service, I requested a buyout which they quickly denied but would not give me a reason as to why they denied it. They did, however, tell me to reach out to them again if anything else went wrong and they would reevaluate it. Shortly after that exchange, the infotainment system faulted. I tried reaching out multiple times to the two representatives I had been speaking with previously and never got a response back. I am beyond frustrated at this point and feel completely ignored by VW customer service. The dealership has been kind, but not very helpful. They sold me a faulty car yet they keep handing it back to me saying “hopefully there won’t be another issue”. Now I am stuck paying full price for a vehicle that is unreliable for the rest of my lease. I could not be more disappointed in the lack of care and attention I have received from VW. As a result, I have resorted to writing this review in hopes of keeping others from having a similar experience. I do not recommend Volkswagen.
One of worse 2 vehicles I ever had( owned over 20)
The cars looks nice, comfortable, big trunk space. The ride is smooth, it doesn't have the feeling or handling of a typical German car. Extremely unreliable, I started having issues after 3 days I purchased it. The car was delivered to me w/o a rubber break pad, dealer mistake almost got my in a crash at day 3. After one week with me Apple car play stopped playing. Dealer always pinned on my phone. I had to reach VW corporatet, have it six. It took about 4 months. I would feel some times like the car lost power, very odd.It will have close to zero power for a few seconds then go back to normal. After 11 months and about 23K miles of having it it had a major issue. Something about wiring the dealer said. All kind of alarms started going off in the car. Check engine light on all the time, the hand break would get activated while driving. Horrible experience, after the dealer fixed I went somewhere else and trade it in for a RAV 2007 with 110k miles on. Zero issues with my 'new' little old SUV for six months and about 7K miles. Lost 8k dollars on my Jetta adventure, I will never buy a VW again. If you are considering to buy a VW Jetta please do not do it. It has several recalls and it is a piece of garbage. By the way I heard all other new VW vehiv=cles have similar issues. Go buy yourself anything else.

Best MPG, BEST ride
Volkswagen has been in the market for many many years, ( MPG 43 80% highway 20% city ) heavy traffic I get 38 MPG. I bought the SEL trim level and it has a lot of standard features check Volkswagen website for all the available features. The 1.4 turbo engine 147 HP with 184 of torque is more than enough for the car size with 4 passengers, at the speed of 65 miles per hour the engine RPM is 1900 with air condition ON, the engine is quite. The car is solid on a Highway driving. Road noise is low. All German cars have stiff seats, they are not like the other cars that have more cushion but they are very comfortable even in long driving hours. The trunk is big enough to fit a lot of luggage. If you are in the market of buying a car I do recommend to test drive the Jetta, it is worth trying. There are 5 trim levels to choose from and the 6th. Trim the GLI is coming soon, so whatever is your budget the Volkswagen will find you the trim level that suits you best. The cold weather package is now available for an extra $450 ( remote start, heated rear seat, heated steering, heated windshield nozzles ). I will definitely buy Recommend Volkswagen to all buyers.

thrills me more than my 2014 Touareg.
The economy of this car exceeds the ratings with only 500 miles on the clock. 30mpg in the city consistently and I hit 44.5 on a 500 mile trip including some Ozark hills. The quality can be felt the first time you lift the hood, German quality on a budget. You never have to go over 3k on the tack due to the incredible low-end torque this tiny engine has. Any articles you can find on the twin turbo (actually supercharged at low rpm then turbo - no lag at all) is well worth the read. The Beat audio system is known for sounding anemic at first listen but you will love it the first time your REALLY listen to it! It is subtle but has perfect sound that is way under rated by those who fail to really appreciate quality sound. When they say it is tuned by musicians, understand that they are comparing this system to studio sound systems that are lacking the added "tones" (rollover frequency choices) that many modern set-ups are adding. I traded a Touareg with only 2800 miles that was the best (quality and price) car I have ever owned but this Jetta gives me more joy. There is nothing I can say negative about this car - understanding that it is in the class that it is.. Civic no comparison, Jetta much better quality.. Kia? .. well .. it is a Kia again no comparison. This is really a poor mans BMW ( I have owned 2) and the only big difference is a light stiff ride vs a heavy stiff ride..

Traded my 2019 Jetta after 27 days
VW has really lost touch this was a very disappointing and costly mistake for me. The 27,000 sell premium had too many problems to mention, poor quality and strange turbo 1.4 is going eve problematic , This was my seventh vw
Roomy and Peppy
Good value and more.

My brite white Jetta
Just bought a 2019 Jetta S last week and been having a great time with the vehicle! I wanted a safe car that got great mpgs and it had to have a standard transmission because Im unsure about the 8 speed auto that is also offered. The 1.4 turbo has a very reasonable amount of zip thru the city and up on the highway as well! The comfort in the interior as well as all the gauges are well thought out. the ride is very smooth on the alloy 16 inch wheels and the mpgs are fantastic! Overall, I cannot think of anything I dont like about this great car! thanks to VW!!!!!

Great new car for the money
It feels and drives more expensive than it is. I am 6'1" and while I would agree that lumbar is lacking after about an hour of driving, overall it's a comfortable place to be. I have the base S 1.4T with 6spd manual, which is a lot of fun. 2019 was the year to get as 2020 models dropped the warranty from 72/72k to 48/48k.

Six months with SEL
I love this car. Performance is great. The car is very quick off the line and delivers smooth power up to highway speeds with minimal, very smooth engine noise. No need to turn up the volume on the highway. The suspension is smoother and more comfortable than the C-class Mercedes I had a few years ago. I find the seats comfortable even on long trips, unlike my Subaru Forester. I get about 38-42 MPG on mixed city and expressway driving on a typical day. Regular gas. The Beats stereo is excellent. The 8 inch screen is very easy to figure out and use on a daily basis. The price was good. I love this car.

Looks more expensive then it is . SE model
great looking front end, back looks good but the front makes the car look wider and a more expensive car then it is. Ride is nice on 16 in rims which look great , pick up is great for a 1.4 T engine. was expecting it to be sluggish but very peppy. interior is a nice new design with the displays facing the driver slightly.comes with keyless go feature and rain sensor you would find on premium cars. seats are comfy. lacks power driver seat (at least tilt) and the stock speakers are not great. other than that a big upgrade from the last gen . (i own a 13 as well) panoramic sunroof is nice , android auto / apple car play , touch screen in dash, blind spot detection , traffic warning on cruise control . nice features for a car of that class.

Overall great!
I trade my Jeep grand Cherokee in for a 2019 R-line Jetta. I wanted better gas mileage because the Jeep was awesome but a gas guzzler. I have owned this car for close to 2 years now, it had 14k miles on it, no accidents and 2 previous owners. I have only had 2 issues with the car since I bought it, the back passenger side tire and sensors. The sensors were wacky because of the cold weather, and just needed a simple reset. And the tire had a slow leak, I hit a pothole so that was my fault lol. I used the warranty to get it fixed, and once everything was fixed there has been no issues since. I have leather seats that are white, so I put a premium leather seat covering over them to protect them as much as I can from wear and tear. The heated seats in the winter are lovely, but in the summer……. LOL don’t wear shorts. The car is comfortable, reliable, safety technology is very accurate, the gas mileage is great and overall meets my standards. This is the first compact car I have ever owned and I’m very happy with it :) ! I do wish it was AWD because it looses traction fairly easily.

Amazing R-Line Find!
Other manufacturer/models were considered, until the morning I found my '19 R-line advertised online for $15 grand. Yeah, no lie, the local dealer was going out of business and this was a steal. I'm tall (6'4") with long legs, the seating position is perfect without the need for an electric adjustment, tons of legroom. The size of the vehicle is perfect, easy to maneuver. Don't let the 147hp sway you, this is not a slow vehicle (use premium and you definitely get more power) and using the manual mode of the auto trans only makes it more fun to drive. It cruises effortlessly at 80-90 mph. The R-line has some nice standard features that include the blind spot alert and cross-traffic rear alert as well as AEB and they all work! The sunroof is nice as well. It has a stop-start feature that I thought would be bothersome but it is so seamless that you hardly note that the car has shut off or started (you can bypass if you want). The gas mileage is amazing, on a recent trip from SF to Palm Springs we averaged 44 mpg! The Apple Car Play works flawlessly. The only disappointment was the audio system. We also have a '17 GTI SE with the Fender audio system that is really nice. I opted to have just the speakers replaced in the Jetta with 4 Focal speakers, $600 installed and problem solved, very satisfied with the audio now using the factory audio head. This has turned out to be such a great buy I can't say enough about it. Plus it's nice-looking! Definitely recommend this vehicle. Update 11.2021 - I'm still in tune with everything that was posted initially. Now the husband has taken this over as his commute vehicle and we have racked up to 35K miles. Still has the original tires and brakes and both are in excellent condition, very surprising. Engine, exterior and interior are all holding up like new. Highly recommend this vehicle.

Grinding Noise from Transmission
Purchased new 2019, short time later noticed grinding engine noise when accelerating past 40 km. Something is seriously wrong and dealer claims it's " normal". This is not normal.
6 speed fun
I like the six year warranty, good metal and beautiful color. I enjoy rowing my own gears and has plenty of power for highway speeds. Roomy and comfortable and enjoy the music am happy with my purchase.

Great Car For The Money
We purchased the base sedan with approx. 15,000 miles on it at a good price. We now have 26,500 mi. on it. The longer we have it, the better we like it. From Chicago area, car has been to California & back. Very nice road car. On another 900+ mi. trip to Iowa we kept track of gas & miles ; averaged 40.2 MPG at 70 - 80 MPH. It gets a little twitchy above 95 MPH. Great car around town ; zippy performance getting away from stoplights & merging into traffic. We have two 305 HP Chevys ; I think the VW will keep up with them from 0 - 30 MPH. Front doors close with a "clunk" ; no tin can sound. We once had a Chevy Citation which we called "the tin can". VW has adequate knee room in rear seat & large trunk. We have a Buick & GMC Acadia in the family ; around town, we enjoy the Jetta more than either of those. If I were to buy new, for our Chicago weather, I would spend the extra money & get a Jetta with heated steering wheel & heated front seats. Back in the day, we had a 1963 VW Bug which I brought home from Germany. It was also a great car for the money ; sorry we traded it off.

Good looking car...great mpg
This car gets 41 mpg on highway...really! 33 mpg combined. I love the turbo charged 1.4 liter - substantial power and transmission with 8 speeds, shifts smoothly, great handling and a very comfortable ride. Strong headlights light up the road, rarely needing to flash brights. Sel Sound system is impressive too, making long road trips more enjoyable, especially with SiriusXM. I'm glad I chose this model.

Excellent almost luxury compact choice
I'm new to VW after having 3 Acuras since 2013. The Jetta has as much room inside (actually more) than my 2018 TLX. So far, gas mileage is exceptional though I'm mostly working from home. The features are above-class for this car. The Audi-based digital dash really sold me. Still getting use to the configurations. Beats sound system-excellent. Heated steering wheel was something I thought wasn't necessary but once I used it, love it. Cooled/Heated seats wow. Still new for me but I'm getting near 40mpg. I plan this to be my "retirement" car and I believe I've made the right choice.
Great car but doors are cheaply made
Car has great mpg and great features and smooth ride , on the se and above models. Have a big problem with constant door dings thx to cheaply made soft doors, not like solid german doors of old. Another problem is the key fob not picking up you are near and opening the doors and trunk with keyless feature . I want to sell it because it easily pick up dings and dents and makes the car look older faster.
It's an ecobox, but has been a good car so far
For a sub $20k vehicle, I really cannot complain. The ride quality is pretty good and the engine is actually quite peppy off of the line. I'm getting around 44-45 mpg on the highway, which is insane for a non hybrid. I've had a few issues with the front sensor malfunctioning and have had to take it in once for them to recalibrate. Ride quality is pretty good, road noise is relatively quiet for this class of car. My only complaints are the weird shifting at low speeds, the 'groaning' at around 30 mph (other jetta owners know what I'm talking about) and eco mode makes the car accelerate like a dog with a broken leg. Normal and 'sport' driving mode feels quite peppy though, it's actually quite surprising how well the car accelerates for a 1.4L (turbocharged) 4 banger.

Best car I've ever owned
I bought the car with 5 miles on it 11/18 all maintenance done on time rotated tires normally replaces at 60000 Unfortunately I hit a bear on the day it rolled over 90000 11/22 totalled the car I never ever had 1 problem out of this car and consistently got 45 plus mpg I'm betting that car would have ran well past 300000 or more loved it will get another soon
