The Hybrid Killer....

Commuting 42 miles each way to work requires a good dependable vehicle with really good fuel mileage. So my choices were a hybrid or a TDI. There is no comparison, after test driving both, the TDI is the winner hands down. It has plenty of power with the turbo and the long term reliability of diesel. Why should you have to sacrifice your driving experience to save on fuel and for the environment? With the TDI you can eat your cake and have it too! It has decent power, tons of room, is well built even for a VW, and it is fun to drive, plus it gets well over 40 mpg...mixed highway and city. I'm clocking in at 48 mpg, consistently. So whether a Jetta, or Golf..the TDI is a hybrid killer.

The Seats are TERRIBLE

I bought this car for a commuter vehicle and it serves this purpose wonderfully as far as an economical and fun car to drive. However, it is the most uncomfortable vehicle I have ever sat in. I am 6'3", 210 pounds. The seats are designed for someone in the 5'0" 120 pound frame size. I am so displeased with the seat comfort that I am taking the vehicle to a custom seat builder for relief.

This is the best car to buy if you are considering the hybrids. The Jetta TDI gives the preformance you need for every day driving and fuel economy that doesn't kill the pocket. It is a great value that's fun to drive has all the luxury feel and quality of a BMW.

Quality, Performance, Value

I did a lot of research before buying my VW. I had previously owned a Toyota & a Pontiac. Considered another Toyota but I found the value for the money was definitely with VW. I went with an '06 instead of an '08, and got all of the options I wanted for less money! I still have a 4 year warranty because it is a certified vehicle. The car drives like a dream! It has the triptronic so I can drive it like a stick shift if I want to (with no clutch!) The car is solid and I feel safe driving it. Also, this is my first time with a leather interior and I am loving it. Even on a few 100 degree days, it was not intolerable getting in (which I thought it would be). "It's the poor man's Mercedes!"

This car is so much fun to drive. I originally wanted an A3, but found the suspension too stiff. I test drove the Passat and the GLI as well, and this one was just right. I love the interior styling. The car handles super nice in curves and when merging into traffic. I love the pick up. My 6 year old calls it the Silverbullet. I had issues with catalytic convertor, rear armrest and satellite radio. Dealership took care of it promptly. This is the best car I've ever had so far.
