I currently have 165k on my Jetta GLS 2.0L. Besides some recall issues (window motor module, and a catalytic converter) the car's been fine. Sure, there are wearable items that go, and I recently did a suspension replacement (tie rods, ball joints, lower control arms, struts, and rear shocks) that cost about $600 for parts. Otherwise, it's a solid runner and is fun to drive. Would I but another? Sure. All cars eventually have most (if not all) of the issues that I've run into.

This is a great economical car that is comfortable for all passengers. Mine survived some 550 mile work weeks and 12 miles of gravel roads a day. The suspension took a hit here and there but I treated it like a farm truck from time to time. Mine still runs and drives great at almost 172k. I'm in the market for a new 5spd Jetta.

this was my second car only had 66,000 on it with is good for a 10 year old car. fell in love with it at first sight black exterior with black leather interior. i learned how to drive stick with this car and its a blast to drive very fast even for the 2.0l v4 handling awesome I cant say enough how much i love this car it looks so cool and is so comfy to sit in and is fast and handles well Im going to miss this car and so will all my friends. the one thing that sucks about this car and the same goes for all German cars when something breaks its pricey. my alternator went $500,oil pan $475. The other thing i dont like about the car too much is the plastic body. It gets 20-26 mpg. love this car

Various problems...last of which was a crack in the engine block, which renders car undriveable until entire engine replaced...cost for this would be $2500 (for a USED ENGINE); $7100 new. Car is not even worth that. -fuel nozzle flap retainer falling into the fuel filler neck a few weeks after buying the car. Fuel tank replaced. -CEL (Check engine light) started coming on (on and off). Dealer said that they did not put the fuel tank on correctly. Fuel tank replaced again. -Rear breaks wore out very early. Same with tires. CEL comes on AGAIN. This time, they replaced the Mass Air Flow sensor.

I have had 6 sensors replaced at the same time, engine light came back on. Now the car went back to the shop and the mechanic said come get it I can't fix it. Now I have to let it warm up before it will go at all it will start and idle but stepping on the gas it dies. I shows differant codes at differant times. This car drives great I have owned it since new, but the things that go wrong no one can fix. What happened to "Its simple, but it gets you there" Everything on this car is complicated and the engineering is goofy (eg the rear seat cupholder)and everything is just differant so no one can work on it.
