VW Service is for the Birds
With a missing amplifier at our purchase, to 4 years of sound system problems, I am fed up with VW's lack of responsibility for their product. After 2 1/2 years of daignosis on an poorly installed amplifier, we thought our days of leaving the Jetta for service all day were over. Wrong, now a little over a year later we are back with the same issue and Don Jacobs VW in Lexington, KY will not revisit their work to check the issue and VW of America will not support the consumer because the year's warranty on the replaced parts is now over. Consumers will spend more time at the dealership (without resolve) than enjoying their brand new cars!

High maintenance cost, engine hits pavement, $10,000+ in repairs over 3 years. Poor Radio, not impressed with VW#5, will not but buy another soon. Engine fell out after right side engine mount failed. VW no help!!
questioning my sanity
My first new car.I drove a 74' Beetle for 15 years and wanted another VW.I had the car 6 weeks when the on board computer went Dealer fixed for free after 2 visits. The rear breaks had to be replaced after 35,000 miles(I paid for that). There have been 3 recalls and last week the passenger window failed to go down or up .It also goes through 1/2 quart of oil a week. The dash lights for the A/C have gone out, the trunk will not open using the driver's console in the door, the driver's door will not always unlock with the key or clicker.many problems for a new car.
Euro Flair w/o Japanese Reliability
My black vr6 jetta glx 5 speed manual was one of the best-looking and performing vehicles in its class for year 2000. It was quick and stylish inside and out. I couldn't go home without it after a few test rides. Who would want to drive back home in a 20 year old rusted-out Toyota pick-up w/ nearly 300k miles on it after test driving the glx? It certainly had that European flair for awhile. Of course I would have opted for an IS300 or G35 had they been on the market in 2000.
