Used 2000 Volkswagen Jetta Consumer Reviews
You get out what you put in to this car
The thing that I have found about this car is that you get out of it what you put in to it. If you take care of it and maintain it properly, you will have a fun to drive and reliable car. If you abuse and knock around your cars and expect them to work like a Swiss watch - you'll be better off with a Honda. I have had my share of annoying little problems with this car (failed sensors, broken glove box door that snapped in 10 degree weather, etc.) but nothing in the past 30,000 miles. I would highly recommend a Jetta to anyone who is a car enthusiast looking for a fun to drive small car with a German engineered feel with lots of standard features.
Jetta 99.5
Automatic transmisson with very good response. Accelerator (pedal) hard to sense for starting up. Very good and neat interior construction.

Happy with 1.8T Manual
I have had my 2000 1.8T Jetta (manual) for four years now and it has been a good experience. I have seen the bad ratings and heard the talk about it being a problem car - but there are no complaints here. Other than a few wrinkles ironed out under warranty during the first year, the car has been fine. The car now has over 60,000 miles and still rides and handles nicely. The excelleration is still there, too!
Be carefule
Bought the car in 2003, immediately had to have the entire transmission replaced, rear window fell in and wouldn't go down, gets 13 mpg, brakes suck...
Poor man's BMW 325
50,000 miles of shifting gears and having fun.
