Review of VW Jetta

Bought car upon college grad drove it four years. Scotchguard did not prevent staining of water spill on passenger seat or fading from sunlight. Timing belt problematic from beginning, don't expect good or adequate service from Kingston VW. Went in five times before they actually agreed to fix it. Brakes replaced twice in four years, check engine light was on most of the four years due to faulty O2 sensor that was never fixed properly. Space is deceiving- not much room in backseat, trunk is big but opening too small to fit items. Revs too high (when in 5th on the highway, sounds like it's in 3rd). Once ownership ended (returned vehicle) all communication from VW ended as well(no follow-up).

I have had this car for two and a half years and i have had no good days with it. The check engine light wont go off. The brakes keep squeaking, even though they have been changed twice, the oil light comes on only 1000 miles after its been changed, and the transmission is slipping bad. I always have problems with this car, and all i hear from people is that it was a mistake to buy. The radio is really poor, not loud at all. The six cd changer will never work. The electrical mechanics are bad, nothing works right. Very expensive to fix, would not recommend buying.

Good Car overall!

My car has 110k miles the engines is still strong, when I purchased it had an air intake installed so the gas mileage is not the best. I get about 315 miles per tank. It is fun to drive and lovely in the winter with those heated seat to bad I cant say the same for the summer. If you are looking for a nice (sport) car this is definitely a must. Always use gas with 91 octanes or higher if not you will lose power and also the check engine light will always be on, emission workshop.

I bought my TDI used with 20,000 miles on it. It now has 120,000 miles. The car is fun to drive and gets great gas mileage but that's all I can say good about it. I have had trouble with A/C 3 times, pwr windows, hardware falling off, engine immobilizer, light bulbs, radio reception, and ... The worst part is the quality of service. I have tried 3 different dealers. I've had 8 VW's over the years but this is the last one!!

"one year pre-owned". Good mileage and a better price than new. The economy and fun-factor are very high! My two main concerns are the seat is too short- (seats could also use better lumbar and side bolster support), and the service cost. The service cost is TOO EXPENSIVE. I found a good german-auto mechanic to change the timing belt at 50,000 miles after two dealers told me it would be 500+ for the work. It still cost me 300+. The MAS just went bad at 75000. The part was 300+. Incredible!! If this keeps up, my savings on driving expenses will be quickly overcome by service costs. Overall, a good choice after one year of ownership.
