Used 2002 Volkswagen EuroVan Consumer Reviews
Great All Around Van for Family
Great van for a larger family. Chose the Eurovan MV as our 3rd child was on the way, and needed a van able to accomadate 3 child seats across the back. Eurovan was the only "minivan" which could. Slept once on the fold down bed- not bad. Averaging around 17.5 to 18 mpg combined. Have 5,500 miles on the clock. Great handling, performance for a van, with loads of room. I seated seven with 5 full size suit cases & 3 carry ons in the back. Climate control works fine, and engine configuration is accessible for those who want to work on engine.
Love my MV!
Wow! I don't understand why more of these sold? I love my Eurovan MV - Comfy, usable space, easy to drive and the fit and finish is great. About the only thing I think I miss is rear AC, my kids have to wait a while to get cool on hot days. I plan on driving this car for a long time and I'm completely satisfied with its overall performance and ride. I can't find any safety data about the Eurovan, but I found a danish site that rated cars by accident per million miles and fatalities etc, and the VW van was rated excellent - for all years including the newer faster types like mine.

Just like my father's VW van - lousy
We had our Eurovan for about 1.5 years before we traded it in on a Honda. The car was in for warranty work on a regular basis. Fortunately, once something was fixed, it didn't seem to break again. Overall, the van was tippy, noisy, and poorly designed inside without convenience items like reachable cup holders. The rear seats are almost impossible to take out, which defeats the purpose of having a van in the first place.
3 Year Update
I originally wrote a review back in Nov. 2002 when the van had only 5500 miles on it. Since then I have had no problems what so ever. Overall, the performance has been excellent. Had the engine replaced after my father hit a drainage grate on a newly built section of highway and it took out the oil pan - thanks WSDOT ! Engine replace with lower mileage engine and so far so good. The fuel economy is a little less than before, but may be due to using regular unleaded and more city driving - averaging around 16.5 - 17 mpg. Had to replace tires at 25K, and babied the Dunlops to get this much out of them. Keep wheels balance and van aligned per schedule. Otherwise van has been great.
Fun in a box
This van is a blast. We have the rear configuration where the seats face eachother. Kids actually fight to ride in our van - often leaving adults carpooling on their own. If you are not into your kids and thier friends, this van is not for you. Plenty of power, stylish, fun to drive. Get lots of comments.
