VW's Black Sheep

The Euro SHOULD be the best (un)minivan in America. It is not. While it does have VW build quality and performance, it is obvious that the Euro's origins are that of a cargo van. The dash board is the most user-UNfriendly I've ever seen, the seats cause actual pain over longer distances, and the climate control system needs to be drug out into the street and shot. All that aside, it is a great van.

Mechanics nightmare

Bought a Eurovan used with 60,000 miles. In great condition when purchased. Car computer died at 80k, the dealer told my wife the car had "a head ache" and it would cost $2500. I refused and insisted it must be under warranty and under my persistence was then covered by my warranty. Hmm. The car drive like a giant box. The interior is average, the seat are uncomfortable for long trips. The cup holders and plastic part break. A sliding window took 5 trips to the dealer, 18 hrs, and $600. The transmission is going out at 120k, and the brakes are expensive and require special tools. One door handle is broken, the window is stuck, the dealer says $500 to fix. AC died. Hard to find a mechanic

Weekender

We love our Weekender, and we use it hard. It tows our boat well in the summer, and is even better in winter than our 97 Passat GLX (we live on a pass in the White Mtn. Region with unusually extreme winter weather - 250"+ of snow per season). The brakes are fantastic, and the avoidance handling is far better than expected for a big, clunky, top heavy bread box.

I have owned my EuroVan GLS for well over a year now, and I can't stop saying good things about it. Sure, it doesn't have all the "gizmos" that all the other minivans have, but in reality, this is a great vehicle. I always walk away with a smile on my face after I drive.

With just over 5000 miles and a trip from LA to Lake Tahoe logged this past December, I can't say enough great things about my family Eurovan. It's got plenty of power, handles very well and has plenty of room. It performed exceptionally well in the snow and dry raod conditions.
