Had the worst experience ever at Gold Star Car Dealer. Was in a car accident last month last month and was initially told by insurance that my car was a total loss on a Friday. Starting the process to secure an affordable car loan with my credit union and started looking around for used car. I have seen many numerous commercials especially from Goldstar on tv, and was told by previous supervisor many years ago that this was has good cars and tend to have a large inventory. Plus purchasing locally is always good for the community. Being a single person and a woman consumer I was placed at a disadvantaged when comes to vehicle purchasing. I already had a preapproved loan and planned to trade in my 2009 Chevy Cobalt which had just picked up from the auto body shop that morning and then later to a mechanic for car noise prior to car accident which I would take care of next weekend. The first weekend after my accident went to Goldstar and other local dealers that weekend just to see what’s there. The first salesman there I met was Pablo and there and was able to drive 2 vehicles that day. Came back the following day Sunday to test drive the 2019 Nissan Sentra which if I had noticed the day before would h ave driven instead of the 2018 Ford Escape. He seemed like a friendly guy those 2 first visits at the dealership and even followed up with me 3 days later which I had to inform him that was waiting on insurance to let me know status of car and car was being repaired after all and wanted to use when the time came. 2 weeks past and made trips to other dealerships. Now my car was returned with a new front end with 93k mileage but still for a 12-year car and in decent condition less an exhaust leak which I mentioned to Pablo when we discussed trade-in value. He even mentioned thanked us for being honest and needed some paint work on the backend. Going back to my experience there my at GolderStar from Pablo. The first SUV I drove there was already gone and so was the Nissan. There was a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox LT MSRP for $29988 markdown to $25,988 that that I got to drive yesterday. Anyway, when the time came to talk numbers, the demeaner and attitude from Pablo changed from friendly to stone cold. My first thought to myself to just to leave. I already mentioned 3 times to him that I am already preapproved and going through a local credit union. He started to complete a credit application and wanted to talk monthly payments. He wanted to find out what was the largest payment that I could afford which he already placed around $450-$550 which again I said could not afford also because I am going through my credit union. In the mean time he took my car keys to inspect my vehicle to determine it’s trade-in which in the end he said was only $1k. My insurance estimator valued it above $3500 which it cost them to fix so the market value is definitely higher than the repair cost right now. Pablo commented that based on my preapproved loans that I could only afford a used $10k car with over 100k mileage – never had a chance to discuss total cash price. In the end if I agreed to $500 payment with probably 60 months would be a $30K used car with 15K mileage more than the suggested MSRP pricing. The markdown advertised was to lure you in. We ended up leaving since the start he wasn’t going to work with me in the end. He mentioned as we left that my car drove a “little rough” and I mentioned from the beginning that it had exhaust leak. This experience at a local car dealer was horrific. During negotiating, he was becoming fustrated as he kept leaving the table supposedly to talk to his supervisor. He even remarked that “who goes to the dealer without the title, registration, or know their credit score”. I just picked up my car from the body shop which I emptied out knowing that it may not come back to me if a loss. However, I do have a clean title for my car at home if I need to pick up later – DMV also does titleless transfers. Third time I mentioned going through a credit union. As a female consumer was mistreated, spoken to as a child, belittled, and disrespected as he did not listen to my needs and concerns . I am glad the I did not follow through because in the end would have ended up a used SUV for $30k and not the markdown as advertised on the window and website. Those poor consumers that he sold 57 cars out of 400 which he commented earlier must have deep pockets with no limits. For me I am just living within my means. For those in the market a wife or daughter there are shark out there. Pablo and this cardealer are [non-permissible content removed] as they will eat you up and drag you to the bottom of the sea! Buyers beware! Patient consumer!

Horrible experience. Strongly warn against trusting this company. I found a solid deal on their site for the exact car I was looking for, and was told it was "Shift Certified" by their 150 point in house inspection. Okay, so sounds like it's in great working shape. I drive an hour and a half to test drive the car, and the convertible top isn't working. I tell the salesman I would have bought the car on the spot, except a faulty convertible top could mean thousands in repairs. I tell them to please fix the convertible top and call me back as soon as its fixed. I don't get any calls. I call a few days later to check in, they say the techs are working on it. This morning, a few days later, I wake up and see a "sale pending" notification online for the car. I call Shift hoping it's some kind of mistake, and guess what... They fixed the convertible top yesterday, and never called me, emailed me, or texted me to let me know as I'd requested. And instead, they sold it to someone else. The hilarious thing? For all that F-, non personal, non thoughtful, dishonest service, they still charge a $1000 "dealer fee" with every sale – despite their 150 point inspection not being thorough enough to even catch a non working convertible top. Not only will I never be doing businesses with Shift again, but I will be warn every car buyer I know against them. If this is the future of car buying, the buyer is fully screwed.
