Used 2007 Toyota Tundra Consumer Reviews
Truth about the Tundra
The Tundra has a clear advantage in looks, engine, towing capability, and certainly rear seat room. We have two kids, one a growing teen and most other vehicles don't have near the room in the rear seat. It makes a tremendous difference. You will not find a better engine in my opinion. 99% of the time it is quiet and well mannered until you need it and then you can unleash the incredible power that makes you truly appreciate what Toyota has done. The transmission is excellent as is the 4X4. Fuel economy is 18mpg or better if you try. I don't tow heavy but it is nice having a vehicle capable of it with the big brakes etc. that go with it. I would highly recommend this truck!
Great Ride
I have ony had this truck for a week, but it's making me forget my beloved 10 year old F150 Lariat. I have the TRD package and I read about the "rough ride" of this trim. I suggest you check your tire pressure - mine was 6-7 lbs. over recommended. I towed my 22 foot pontoon through the city on a Friday evening and the truck handled the load like a champ. Acceleration and braking was very controlled and confidence-inspiring.

My wife loves it!
I have the Timbermica green with the tan interior. 5.7 4x4 TRD. Two words: love it! The wife fell in love with it as soon as she drove it. It handles great, and for a truck with an off road package I don't think the ride is that bad. Fit and finish is great, and there is plenty of room on the inside for traveling or loading up the family for a Sunday outing. The 5.7 is quite and powerful. I would buy it again in a heart beat.
It is still a half-ton truck
I have a longbed doublecab 5.7 SR5 2wd. I traded a Silverado 2500 crewcab, and was counting on the TV ads to be accurate. The ads lead you to believe that although it is a half-ton truck, it is almost a 3/4 ton. Not even close! If you are a person who drives to the office and parks the truck, picks up some lumber on the weekend, and tows the boat to the lake on the weekend, then this is a wonderful truck. If you work out of your truck and carry heavy loads, then be prepared to be let down. It is a light duty 1/2 ton truck. The tires are rim protectors, not truck tires and can inflate to only 44 lbs, not 70lbs like a real truck tire. The suspension is soft. But I like the truck.
Went back to the Tundra
We had a 2000 Tundra that did a wonderful job for us. We moved and when it was time for a new one, the Titan pulled more weight so we got one. While the Titan was a wonderful truck, it's just not a Toyota. This new Tundra is just plain gorgeous and I anticipate performance and comfort on our cross-country journeys while pulling a trailer.
