2024 Toyota RAV4 Prime SUV Consumer Reviews

Fast, Fun and Efficient
Bought my 2024 RAV4 Prime XSE with the cold weather package in December 2023. Yes, the car is a bit pricey. However, you get one of the best performing and reliable hybrids on the market. The electric range has been about 40 for me but I drive aggressively. I came from a 2013 Acura RDX and this car accelerates faster, handles better, stops better, and is more comfortable than my Acura. I have been more than pleased with the performance and the quiet cabin. The upgraded JBL 11 Speaker system isn't great compared to my Acura system but I am going to throw a few high end door speakers in to improve that. Car Play works flawlessly and once you get the hang of navigating through the various screens life is great. Honestly, I wanted a 100% electric car but am really glad I didn't go that route now. I went for the Prime instead of just the RAV4 Hybrid because I wanted the 303 HP and torque compared to the Hybrid 219 HP. I was able to get the car at sticker which is decent for southern California as there still aren't a lot of them available. If you are thinking of going with a plug in Hybrid, this one is the best.

Our RAV4 Prime after one year
After our first year of ownership I can say we are totally happy with it. This past summer we took it on a 2,500 mile round trip to Oregon, and I was very impressed with its comfort and performance. We drove most of the way in hybrid mode and averaged over 37 mpg, while driving at 75mph with A/C on. And in town at home, am averaging about 44 miles per charge in ev mode. It recently had its annual service & nothing else has been needed. I put about 10,000 miles on it this past year. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in a PHEV!

Toyota RAV4 Prime…..a great choice!
I just recently purchased a new 2024 Toyota RAV4 Prime, and can honestly say I’m delighted with it. During this time of seeing more electric cars and hybrids, this car seems to be a great choice, offering the best of both worlds. There are other plug-in hybrids, but none has the 42 mile range on battery that the RAV4 Prime does. Besides the wonderful power train, the car is also very well equipped with the latest electronics and very comfortable to drive and ride in. An excellent choice for many!
The Perfect Car
I find it hard to understand why anyone wouldn't give this car the highest rating possible. I have driven Mercedes and Volvo for most of my adult life and am astonished by how great the RAV4 Prime performs for me. I almost never use gas bc I get ~50 miles on a fully charged battery, it is really comfortable, has all the bells and whistles and is a fraction of the cost of its European competitors.

Undrivable for EV-only mode
The pedestrian whine is running AT ALL TIMES under 22mph. You have a high pitched whine going off literally every time you approach a stop, or leave from a stop. My intention for this car was to be EV at all times in my most locally driving life, and then use the ICE/hybrid for longer trips. The whine is so loud it's infuriating. And I have only had it in winter with the windows closed so far. The backup whine makes sense, but the forward whine is unbearable. I had a Tesla model 3 for three years. Imagine the backup whine, but even louder, and running at all times under 22mph. I regret buying this car so much. It wasn't charged when I test drove it, so it was running the ICE. I was more concerned with comfort, and it never occurred to me there would be a forward whine.
