Used 2015 Toyota Prius v Consumer Reviews
Prius V
We have loved our 2006 prius but started using our 2008 Highlander for long trips. The prius V includes the bonus features so it is now our long trip car with the comfort of the highlander but at 45 MPG on trips. With the level 5 and the tec package we get the sun roof and dynamic cruise control. Lane change warning. Much accident avoidance tec I would expect on a more expensive car. This is an upgrade to our travel.

Roomy 40+ MPG car with no maintenance issues
I am writing this review at about 30 months of ownership, but my mileage has been only 15,000 miles to date, so perhaps my lack of maintenance issues is partly related to this. To date, I have averaged a decent 41.8 MPG overall (measured by actual mileage and actual fuel consumption rather than the trip computer which seems to be about 5% too high -- I log all my fuel purchases on fuelly.com). I live in Arizona in a 5,200 foot elevation area which leaves us warm but not boiling summer temps and cold but not miserable weather in winter. I owned a regular Prius before this vehicle so I expected (and am getting) pretty much the same overall experience. It isn't a race car but I bought it for extra roominess, reliability and fuel economy and find that if I press the accelerator I get to highway speeds and can maintain highway speeds even in our mountainous region. Handling is fine, no complaints. I like the rear visibility of this vehicle compared to the standard Prius, which I thought was a nightmare. This is a very capable vehicle and I have no serious concerns. Update, June 2018 21,000 miles. Still no problems with the vehicle. Pretty much the same evaluation. It came off lease and we bought it, so that tells you we remain happy with the vehicle. December 29, 2020 udpate, 37,882 miles. Average measured MPG 42.0. Still no major repairs, just routine maintenance -- oil, filters, fluid levels, tire levels. Dec 29 2021. Ditto last December comments. Now at 46,000 miles.

Reliable, but could be much better
After previously driving a 2009 Prius I expected more from this more expensive model. Although this car rides and handles nicely, I was surprised that not only do I get lousy MPG, but it strains to go up hills! I really like all the safety features that the Prius V-5 model gives me and the cargo space is great. My biggest complaint beside the under-powered motor is the mileage. At 8500 miles we are under 35mpg 33% of the time and we average 35.8 mpg. My secondary complaint is that on this most expensive model, the sound system is rather crappy. I get better sound in my 2010 Sienna. I really can't recommend this model. I've complained to the dealer, but they say nothing is wrong with the car! I wonder how they got the EPA to give them a rating of 40-44mpg with a combined mileage of 42mpg. UPDATE Nov. 2017. We still get lousy mileage and the motor strains going uphill yet Toyota says everything is fine! They even brought in a factory rep to test it! UPDATE May 15, 2018 Same poor mileage, still struggles up steep hills and crappy sound system. I probably would not buy a third prius. UPDATE November 18, 2018 (13,900 miles). Still poor gas mileage (34-35mpg), under powered engine, and lousy sound system. update 11/19/2021. Same problems, but I must say this is a reliable car and cost for maintaining it is very modest. At this time it still has low mileage and is in wonderful shape. I plan to sell it within the next year or two and get an all electric car. Update May 2022. Even after an accident that smashed passenger and front, this car is still reliable. And it still is under powered and only gets at best 36mpg and the radio is horrible. It does however, give 2 seniors a second car. I'm on my 3rd battery and they run about $260 each. With only 25,000 miles on it, it should be a good car for selling. May 2023 about 7,000 miles, but getting slightly better mileage. New problem though. The moon roof is starting to pit and become unclear in several spot especially in the front. May 2025. I have almost 35,000 miles on it and gas mileage is good (35-40mpg). I might sell soon as the low mileage is really in demand and I don't need a second car

as advertised value, no bull
We bought this car for its carrying capacity, hybrid engine, and good mileage for our mixed use. The car has delivered exactly what the EAP mileage sticker proclaimed on an overall basis. Comfortable power seats with lumbar support for driver. Steering is exact and very smooth, car tracks precisely. Cornering is fun around exit ramps as many smaller "sportier" cars are often left behind the Prius V. Radio suite has been replaced on extended warranty at about 68000 miles. Works as new now with easy controls for navigation and performance parameters. We had a sunroof installed which added a little road noise to an otherwise average noise interior......(based on road type) . It is an above average road car and comfortable on long road trips, (Florida). This car is not a dragster but it will keep up nicely on entrance ramps etc if you accelerate at normal rates and don't floor it (use good economy driving techniques). We like it a lot!

Too big for me, but a good car
It is a great car, but bigger than I need. I find it harder to park and the front hood design is too long and fancy. I am taking a loss now to change to a smaller car. The inside has some cheap parts, like the top of the dash board. It would be a good car for someone that needs lots of cargo space and plenty of back seat space, but decent mileage. Great windows for visibility, much better than the standard Prius.
