Used 2015 Toyota Prius v Consumer Reviews
Love my car
Very comfortable and handles in the snow better then any car I've ever drove. Although some people snub the "slow" Prius if they did some reading they'd understand the quality and efficiency of the leading hybrid on the market today. And the reliability is priceless. ALSO TO THE PERSON WITH THE BACK UP BEEP COMPLAINT THIS CAN BE TURNED OFF AND WILL ONLY BEEP ONCE WHEN PUT INTO REVERSE. There are two ways to do this tell the mechanic (at Toyota) you want this done and if they say they can't they are either lying or just don't know. The other way is a series of actions you must do in an exact order which will turn the setting to one beep this can be found with a simple google search.

Prius V touch screen display
This touch screen display in my Prius-V sucks. Not only does it work, which inhibits me from using navigation, but the repair time is estimated at least 3 months. Toyota does not have the replacement part and is overwhelmed by so many defects. The display controls navigation, daio and phone connection and nothing works. It is a good driving car and all others aspects are fine unless you run into repair trouble.. But just for the display I would not recommend this Prius-V

The good, bad and so so
This is my second Prius so I am experienced with hybrids. We also got better than advertised mileage in the 2009 model I got the model 5 because it has great looking 17" wheels which give me a more comfortable ride than my 2009. The visibility front and back is great and the lane warning and color backup camera is a must. This car has decent handling and the power seat for the driver makes it easy to accommodate my large frame and my wife's shortness. The "bad" is the gas mileage which should be 40-44MPG, but to date we have never done better than 34! The engine is somewhat under powered, The premium sound system is far from great even on strong FM stations. The backup beeper is very loud. And the moon roof which came with the premium sound system and safety features is useless. I wish Toyota would allow for customers to choose the features that they actually want instead of packaging unrelated items and then charging more. I'm most upset about the misleading mileage figures though. This car could become a great car with a little more effort by the company. So although I like this car and it is a pleasure to drive and I feel safe in it, I can only give it a 3 star primarily because of the mileage. UPDATE 5/17/16: The gas mileage still is disappointing. The engine going up a steep grades is very noisy and seems to be under a strain. UPDATE 11-18-2017: At 10,000 miles we are still under 35mpg 33% of the time and we average 35.8 mpg. How did Toyota ever get the EPA to give them a rating of 40-44mpg with a combined mileage of 42mpg? Did they learn something from VW? The dealer had the factory Technician check out the car and reported that the car is functioning per factory specs. Update 05-20-2019: At 16,600 miles we still get poor mileage, the car strains going uphill for long grades and the sound system sucks. Other than that it is a great car! But I won't buy another! Update 11-21-2019. Slightly better mpg but still below rating. Starting to feel more bumps now even with new tires. I'll probably keep these car for a couple more years. Update 11-22-2022. I still have lower than advertised gas mileage, but slightly better than earlier. We only do 3-4,000 miles on it per year. Other than my previous complaint this car has been reliable, I'm waiting for an EV that allows tax rebates and has a lot of safety features and is affordable Update11-23-2023:With 30,000 miles on this car, we get better mileage average 38 mpg and except for the crappy radio , we are pleased and will keep this economical car longer. Update 05-27-2024. Still going and gets same mileage per gal. Update 11-28-2024: Everything is about the same. A little rougher ride and the radio is really horrible, but it gets us around town economically.

Great to drive-- awful climate controls
This car is sporty and fun to drive, no problem at all getting up to speed to pass, and I love the cruise control that keeps you from accelerating beyond the settings even on a long, downhill slope. But don't expect the touted 50mph unless you are annoyingly pokey getting off to a start. I never get better than 46 mpg regardless of where I drive (mountains, freeway, city). And beware, the zippy, tight turns and easy parking may take getting used to. The first month I had it, I wrecked the entire right side turning too tightly around a tree that was outside the illumination of my headlights. It seats five reasonably comfortably and the rear storage area is larger than it appears, although, like most cars today, you will have to move anything you have in there to change a tire. I had to find a cushion to raise the seat up to a good driving level, since seat height is not adjustable, and prepare to find another cushion if you have lower back issues, since there's absolutely no support there. Plus the steering wheel never adjusts to where it would optimally be for an average sized woman. A backup camera is standard, but rear visibility is so awful that they probably had no choice. And no matter how I try, I always have to use my hand to block the sun when it's low, since the visors don't seem to cover all the possibilities. But those are minor issues compared to the nightmarish climate controls, digital displays and virtually useless navigation (for which I paid well over a grand.) Want to see your odometer reading? You must toggle through mind-boggling displays hunting for it. My biggest beef is the climate control -- stupidly hard to operate (dangerous even, since you are usually driving when you want to adjust them), and not very effective, but maybe that's because I haven't yet learned to operate them after years of driving this car. Toyota used to make a simple three-dial control that was so intuitive -- too cold, turn to red zone, too hot, turn to blue zone, want outside air mixed in, turn to white zone. Sooooooo easy and effective. And no dog ever stepped on them and changed all your settings.

update on the Prius
I received the Prius back from the dealership. The freezed screen has been repaired. Panasonic came up with an updated version within 2 weeks and had it to the dealership in record time. If you are experiencing a similar problem, the new units are ready at your dealership. I have read so many different reviews on the car and so many are inaccurate. The IIHS safety ratings are misstated in so many articles. This had top ratings in all categories including small overlap testing. Safety is my priority. Now addressing steering feel and handling, I do not like feeling the road . I want relaxed comfort, this delivers. I do not want to feel every pebble through the steering wheel. The handling is very safe, this is not a race car. If you want to feel everything look elsewhere, there are plenty of cars out there that they have ruined their comfort for hard handling. This vehicles mission is for economical, roomy ,comfortable transportation. Another review stated the Nav screen was very small, It is if you have the screen split. All you have to do is tap on the side of the screen that is displaying the Nav and it will expand to full screen mode. As for reviews saying the interior looked cheap, I went for the multi-colored ash interior with striped seats, it is very attractive. In the different reviews I noticed they had black interiors, I found them depressing in black, They also offer a nice bisque if you get a 4 or 5 model. This site does not properly list the star ratings .
