2025 Toyota Highlander Consumer Reviews

A great riding waste of money
I love the ride and handling of my 2023 Highlander XL. Gas mileage is good for these bigger vehicles. Reasons I’m writing this. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE! You’ve been warned. From the first week we’ve had nothing but problems with the technology in this vehicle. We’ve been told everything from, we don’t see anything, we can’t fix what we can’t see, we ran a check and it appears to go out but only shortly, oh, this vehicle does not support pairing with Apple phones and it’s can’t support blue tooth capability. Another problem is the tailgate. The tailgate will not lift unless vehicle is turned off, no one is inside and you walk back and hold your mouth right. Plus, as an added bonus, it will shut right on top of you. Don’t have time to move? Oh, well, it will chomp you on up. No sensors working at all. I’m sure over time it will get worse. They say don’t worry you’re under factory warranty. Well, the factory doesn’t pay me to sit for 2-5 hours every time this car acts up. They don’t pay me to take a day off to do this because they don’t know how long it will take, what it might be and that it has to go through a warranty approval before they can see if they have a loaner car. If you bought one, I’m sorry. If not, and you still do, good luck

2023 Toyota Highlander XSE Wind Chill Pearl
Pros: The Wind Chill Pearl color looks great. The Overall features and specs Provided by Toyota are good. I liked the 20-inch wheel, SunRoof, and Music system. Cons: I feel like Toyota has overpriced this Model. With the 2.4-Liter 4-cylinder Turbo Engine for the Heavy Highlander, the pickup is okay but not too great. I could feel the fuel efficiency has gone down. The third-row bench seat is not that useful when it comes to driving for more than an hour. I am using it for Cargo space. Toyota could improve the rear seat movement to electric instead of Manual for this trim.

Rotors bad at 17k. Are you kidding me.
At 17k miles, the rotors need to be resurfaced on a new 2024 Highlander. Are you kidding me. Never have I had a car where the rotors had to be resurfaced at 17k. The dealer said the cost will be $200 because the warranty ended at 12,000 miles. After researching other sites I am not the only one with this problem. Will they need to be resurfaced in say another 10,000 miles I ask. Dealer no answer. Can't wait to see what happens when the 36,000 mile warranty runs out. Don't buy this car.
Terrible Turbo Lag
I owned a 2017 Highlander with the V6, and it produced a very smooth comfortable ride. I test drove the 2024 XSE recently and was highly disappointed with the turbo V4. Why would a company like Toyota put this crap engine in their cars? First of all, the turbo lag is awful, and the engine is very loud. I drove the vehicle into heavy traffic and was nervous because there was very little power after I hit the throttle. The performance is fine once the vehicle gets going, but from a stop it isn't so pleasant. Second, a vehicle that costs nearly 50k should have real leather and a panoramic sunroof as opposed to Softex and a moonroof. Toyota, if you're reading these reviews, you must do better or risk losing your reputation. This car is unacceptable.

Good & Bad
The 2023 Highlander Limited comes well equipped with things like, lane keep assist, intelligent cruise, and front and rear park assist. What we didn't like: The seats were not very comfortable, and the road noise while driving at highway speeds was unacceptable (this may be caused by the goodyear tires). I don't mean to say this is a bad car, it just didn't meet our expectations. We traded after 7 months for a 2024 Infiniti QX60, which we absolutely love.
