I am very pleased with the 'on the road' performance of this vehicle. While a V6 engine... it has more than enough power to get in and out of tight situations. I'm not getting 31 mpg when using the air conditioning, however, if I turn it off I can squeeze 29.6 out of it. The Highlander could have a little more room for the driver (even in the height of the cab). Over all, it is an excellent maneuvering vehicle. I'm glad I bought it!

We took a chance on a new hybrid vehicle. The Highlander took 12 months to arrive and was well worth the wait. The performance is fantastic, the fit and finish is superb, the features and the layout are excellent, only the gas mileage is not what they say. We get 27 to 29 mile per regular gallon of gasoline which is not too bad considering the vehicle weighs around 2 and 1/2 tons. All in all this is a typical well engineered and manufactured Toyota vehicle.

Great SUV...that I still call a car

Have been researching this vehicle for over 1 year. I put my name on the waiting list to get the car in Aug. of 2004. It was worth the wait. This is a fantastic SUV. I drive it mainly in the city, I usually fill it back up with about 4 gal. left in the tank, and have been averaging about 360 miles on a tank. The tank is 17.2gal. I have a lot of stop and go traffic with some hi- way time as well. Have also been using the air-conditioner heavily as lately it has been in the mid- 90's here. I expect to get better gas mileage when the days start to cool. Will be putting it throught ultimate test when I drive it from Indpls,In. to Colrado Sprinds Co. I feel like I am 16 again!

What more could you ask for in an SUV?

Love my car... It's beautiful--no space alien design--it's luxurious, and it drives like a dream. I commute 80+ miles one way, so my vehicle plays an important role in my life. I couldn't have made a better choice. The handling is surprisingly good when you consider the extra weight, and the vehicle is so quiet, half the time I'm not even sure it's really on. The Limited trim gives you just about everything you could ask for, but after market options are available-- and mine have worked out just fine.

Not quite up to hype

The advertised gas mileage does not match our practical driving experience experience. Still, it is very good for this type of vehicle, and the impact on the enviroment makes it more than worthwhile. Lack of telescoping steering wheel impacts driving comfort. Seats do not provide enough thigh support for the adults. Excellent acceleration. Normally adequately quiet to drive, but VERY noisy when back windows open, or moon roof slid back. Rear seat awkward to get to. The more we drive it, the more we enjoy it. Handling while driving is good. Climate control is good. We will get an income tax deduction to help offset the cost of buying, though that was not the intent of the government.
