Great Car, Hybrid or not

I've only had mine for about 400 miles, but I like it very much. It has a comfortable ride, but you can still feel the road a little. I do not detect the engine noise that the editors talked about, even with the windows down. It handles fairly well for an SUV, but it does get a little mushy in the turns. I don't mind that tradeoff for the comfortable ride. The cargo area is terrific for a midsize SUV.

Makes you learn and understand how cool a hybrid is. You start driveing different to get better mileage (braking sooner and lighter to recover energy, etc). You start looking for articles about your hybrid. Wonder if a bigger after market battery is available to boost the mileage higher. After 3800 miles I've gon from 24 mpg to an average of 27+mpg. I just can"t see not ever buying a non-hybrid again.

Excellent SUV for non-off-roaders

Very smooth, quiet, comfortable ride. Excellent acceleration. Well-appointed interior. Third-row seats are cramped and its use makes second row also cramped, but useable for short trips. Fuel consumption fell short of EPA- reported averages in my hands. I could get only 26 MPG in town and 23 MPG on highway.

I am very pleased with the 'on the road' performance of this vehicle. While a V6 engine... it has more than enough power to get in and out of tight situations. I'm not getting 31 mpg when using the air conditioning, however, if I turn it off I can squeeze 29.6 out of it. The Highlander could have a little more room for the driver (even in the height of the cab). Over all, it is an excellent maneuvering vehicle. I'm glad I bought it!

We took a chance on a new hybrid vehicle. The Highlander took 12 months to arrive and was well worth the wait. The performance is fantastic, the fit and finish is superb, the features and the layout are excellent, only the gas mileage is not what they say. We get 27 to 29 mile per regular gallon of gasoline which is not too bad considering the vehicle weighs around 2 and 1/2 tons. All in all this is a typical well engineered and manufactured Toyota vehicle.
