Used 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Consumer Reviews
hybrid doesn't = 30+mpg
The vehicle is comfortable, reliable, has decent power, pick-up and performance. However, even without exceeding 60 mph om the highway, I only get around 26-28 mpg, not the 33-35 shown on the sticker. Still, I am very pleased with the purchase.
First one in town!

Fun to Own and Drive!
I didn't want to give up the roominess of a SUV but I did want to get a lot better gas mileage. After much looking and research I chose the Toyota. My wife liked our Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and was reluctant to part with it, however one test drive later she was a fan of it! We both really like it and are glad of the change. We felt fortunate to find one and bought one on the lot. It had the GPS option which I really didn't feel I needed. It is now one of my most favorite options!
My first Hybrid
I purchased my first toyota and hybrid Sept. 6th. I love it. It's fun to drive. I have put about 1000 miles on it and only put about $40.00 of gas. My son loves the moonroof. We like looking at the stars at night. You just have to get use to feeling the jerking when the gas engine stops and electric engine picks up. Also when you use your brakes you feel and hear them. I do also hear more road noise than I'm use to but it is still a great SUV.
Highlander hybrid AWD
Gas mileage seems best after about 10 minutes of warm-up driving. Keeping an eye on the milage gauge helps a lot. Acceleration is phenomenal, real smooth power with the CVTC transmission, but heavy foot kills the milage. Real world average to date about 26-28 mpg, but have seen as much as 33 mpg on one 60 mile trip. As always, Toyota build quality is first class, we have 3 other Toyota vehicles and zero complaints. Shore Toyota also great to deal with, once we got past the sticker shock.
