It's been a great car so far (I have roughly 1500 miles on it). It rides much more smoothly than my previous car (a 4th gen 4Runner). I doubt it's going to be as reliable as than good ole V6 though. If you don't care about true offroading and you just drive down some dirt and gravel roads or are on paved roads most the time, this is a much better choice than a 4Runner or Sequoia. If you need a 3rd row, it's really the only good option from Toyota. It's comfortable, and the interior was well-thought out. It's a good balance between luxury and price as well. The keyless entry, the 360 cameras (which make parking in tight spaces super easy), and panoramic moon roof are all worth it. The things I don't like are the 4 cylinder engine (I'd prefer a V8, though I know that won't meet emission standards), the auto start stop (though I will say I've gotten used to it by slightly raising my foot off the brake so it'll cut back on right before I go), the mom-ish look, the lack of an auto-lock feature when you walk away, and the lack of extension of the steering wheel (I'm also tall, so this may not matter for most people). The hood also can shimmy some at high speeds, but it's only visual (no noise), and it really doesn't bother me. In fact, none of these "bad" things are things that bother me day to day. There's no buyer's remorse here. I'd buy it again if I had to make the choice again today.

2024 Toyota Grand Highlander XLE

I love the ride quality and ample size. Not too big, not too small, just perfect. I wish it came with a V6 engine instead of the 4 cylinder Turbo. Only time will tell how long the Turbo will be trouble free. One thing I would like Toyota to improve is the interior material quality and design. The car is not cheap by all means. The interior looks so cheap that it reminds me of GM vehicles I used to have about 20 years ago.

Bought this in July 2023 and started having problems end of September, have been filming most of them on my phone and in the end Toyota denied my case and said “ it’s first generation car if course I should expect bugs and stuff like that” - the screen goes black- took it the dealership- they couldn’t replicate the issue ( I have at least 3 videos showing it) -the car touch lock only works 50-60% of the time. I have a story to back up this issue. Imagine (me) 8 months pregnant woman getting her 1.5 year old toddler out of the car seat and trying to lock the car but the car is glitching( again) and won’t lock. I then put my toddler down and start looking for keys in my pocket so I can lock the car, meanwhile my kiddo already on the road running towards the dog she saw on the other side of the street. TERRIFYING! I payed $50k so this doesn’t happen and expect a brand new vehicle work properly- took it to the dealership- ma’am we can’t duplicate the issue ( I have video evidence from other days doing the same) - lock your car button on top of the trunk never works - was told I’m standing too close and car sensing me so it can’t lock itself- no matter how far I’m standing this button does not work - had check engine go on a few times and was sent home due to unable replicate the issue untill one time I drove 45 minutes after pediatrician appointment straight to the dealership with check engine light on. Days later they find out it’s “ just a sensor “ but these sensor are on back order so I have to wait to get one. - car decided when and why it wants to connect my phone for Apple car play. If it doesn’t want me to play music it won’t automatically connect nor I won’t be able to do it manually ( I have video evidence)- was told it’s just bugs of the first generation car I feel scammed on buying this car and Toyota ignoring me. I opened case with them in January and was told they will let me know in 30-45 days. Fast forward April came around and the only follow up I got was “ I’m sorry I was out of the office last 2 days” … I mean it’s been 3 months and you told me it will take 30 days?? Then a few days later this same person ( Wendy Lutzow) responds with a letter that denies to help me in any way. Hey Wendy did you even watch any of the hundred videos I sent you? It sure seems that Toyota is just waiting till I drive 36k+ miles so my warranty expires and they can start charging me thousands of dollars for the issues they refused to address. The worst purchase ever. Don’t get yourself into this. By any other car

The Grand Highlander has that Boom, Boom, Boom

If you are thinking of purchasing one, make sure to do a VERY thorough test drive before signing. Some of these cars have Cabin Boom that feels like being inside of a drum. Its a low bass sound that happens on all types of roads at 45mph or lower. Its really bad at 25mph. This results in ear pain and headaches. Toyota claims they are investigating but they keep closing everyone's cases. They have no solutions for it. A $50,000+ car should not be causing its drivers and passengers pain and suffering. Buyer Beware! The issue is across all Trims, Hybrid and Gas with and without Pano Roof.
