Stay Away from 2008 Models
Back when the great depression began, Toyota wasn't sure it would survive. So for 2008 and 2009 models, they put ever defective part they could find in their cars. So far, what I have had fail + recalls have been: 1. Braking (recall) 2. Acceleration (recall) 3. Stereo (3 times replaced under warranty - now I am out of warranty and it no longer works) 4. GPS replaced system many times 5. Sun visor (broke in rush hour traffic, dealer service department claimed they never heard of it happening then the recall was issued) 6. Power window recall 7. Locks no longer work (no recall yet) 8. Tires only last 25,000 miles and cost $800 to replace Much more, but no more space to write...
engine burning oil
mileage on my car 200k and it starts burning oil. after each 2000 miles i am adding 1 quarter oil (946ml). i went to toyota dealer 2 times and made oil consumption test twice. But every time it passed. Toyota dealer said me, that if its not burning quarter oil in 1000 mile its ok.

Perfect Car
This car has been great. I was initially turned off by not being able to use the navigation while driving (can't input a new address) but the voice activated process allows you to input a new address. The car is extremely roomy and ergonomic and I love the heated seats and sound system. It is not a sports car so if you're looking for premier acceleration, cornering, etc. you've come to the wrong place. It is a good looking family car with more-than-ample acceleration while saving big money on gas.
MPG Drops a lot in Winter
This is a great car, but I live in New England. We were getting 35-38 MPG before winter. Now we are getting around 25 mpg. (Our Suburban gets 16 mpg!) I love our Camry but wonder if I would have bought it knowing the winter mileage is so much lower. We have a long winter and I wish I had known about the drop in MPG in the cold weather. By the way, I researched this and it is a normal characteristic of all hybrids.
2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid
I had a 2002 Avalon and was thinking of buying a new 2008 when I looked at the Camry Hybrid. The trunk is the only really comedown, after owning one for 3 months now, it's the best car I have ever had. Quiet, roomy & comfortable, stylist, 37-40 mpg, and a lot of creature comforts. You won't be disappointed.
