Used 2006 Toyota Avalon Consumer Reviews
5 Days and counting
Got my 06 XLS on 12/22 - Phantom Gray with Ivory Interior. Have just 350 miles on it. I put a metallic silver stripe on it at the crease that runs above the door handles. I like everything about it except: Unlike my 04 Maxima SL the sun visors have no extensions, nor is there a 2nd sun visor on each side so you can block the sun on both the front and side windows at the same time. Secondly, the engine seems louder that my Maxima - I expect that will quiet down as it wears in.
The XLS is a great car!
The 2006 Avalon is a great car. I test drove many cars before making my decision to purchase the Avalon. I was looking for a larger car, with a more upscale and sophisticated appeal that was under $30,000. My Avalon XLS has it all: Leather seats, JBL Synthesis (booming) sound system, sunroof, sequential shifting, spacious interior, dual power seats, v6, excellent fuel consumption, clean looking dash board that's not cluttered and reclining rear seats. This car also has exceptional speed. If you're not careful, you'll be at 100 mph without knowing it. Nice handling for a large car. Sequential shifting really allows one to move quickly.

My 2005 Limited
This is the best car I've ever owned. I still have problems in telling the difference from my 05' Limited, and many models of the Lexus. Actually, I think it looks much better. At 6'5, I've never before been able to sit in and drive a car with a sunroof. I can sit in this car with several inches to spare.
Really Good - needs a little to be great
This is a really good car but the build quality is not up to snuff - even though my 05 was the first year of the new model, the build quality was a "B" even though Toyotas typically garner an "A". My passenger front door shouldn't be higher than the rear by 2mm. The rear glass has vertical lines of waviness that are visible even when looking through the rearview mirror. Pushbutton dash panel covers open only after 2nd or 3rd try - it takes 5-10 tries when it's over 90 degrees! Needs better choice of exterior paint colors, and definitely needs better choices for the leather upholstery! I guess this is what Toyota does to handicap Avalon so it doesn't embarrass it's pricier Lexus siblings.
TRADED A LEXUS
I love my new Limited! I have had two Lexus ES300 and though I loved the ride, neither was large enough for my real estate business. This car has it all over the Lexus ES, except I did love the quiet and smoother ride of the Lexus. My Limited is more comfortable, more room for my coffee, storage and my clients love the leg room and comfort in the back seat. The heated seats are great and the mirror flashers are a plus..love it. I have just put 4000 miles so hoping the best is yet to come. This, so far, is a keeper. The mileage is about 29-30 highway and 16-17 in town....not great, but equal to the Lexus.
