2002 Toyota Avalon XLS 4dr Sedan w/Bucket Seats (3.0L 6cyl 4A)

The Avalon XLS is very good in a lot of ways, but some of the options are so
poorly designed that they are junk. The "trip computer" has a feature that
calculates average gas mileage - a must-have on my shopping list - but it
resets every time the ignition is turned off! It's worthless! It also calculates
trip time (up to 99 hours!) but that also resets when the engine is turned off.
The cruise control looses its memory and has to be reset if you slow to
under 40. I'm disappointed. My 1990 Taurus did better on these and other

Best Features

Nice ride. Very spacious and comfortable. The autolock feature locks all doors when you shift out of Park and unlocks them when you shift back to Park - great feature.

Worst Features

Redesign trip computer so it doesn't reset when engine is turned off. Change cruise control so it retains setting if you slow to under 40. Add timer/stopwatch. Redesign cup holders on bench seat model - anything in them gets in the way of your arm. Add a strap to attach gas cap to car.
