Perfect family vehicle
Drives great. Excellent Visibilty, More than enough acceleration to easily get on an 85mph tollway. Very comfortable in both front seats & back seats. My 74yo, 6'2" uncle easily fit into the backseat & said it was a very roomy, comfortable trip. Cannot recommend the Subaru Outback enough. Had a truck run a stop sign on a rainy day pulling in front of me on a 70mph highway & the Outback responded perfectly with rapid, controlled deceleration.

why not grey?
I really like my Subaru and this is the second one that I have owned. This vehicle does everything that it is supposed to do and in relative comfort. I have taken my Subaru on many extensive trips and it has always performed flawlessly. A snow storm in the mountains of west Virginia and I just kept on going without and trouble while many other four wheele drive cars were on the side of the road. A very good friend of mine in her Forester was sideswiped on the highway by a much larger vehicle and the Forester rolled over two times. The driver a woman in her late seventies walked to the waiting ambulance. She was injured but the talk was that her Forester saved her life. The car was a complete mess. My next vehicle will be a Subaru.

Bullet proof
Overall there is nothing I dislike about my outback. I was seriously thinking to upgrade to a EV but live in Canada Travelled from Winnipeg to Regina. Didn’t see to many charging station and don’t want to delay an already long drive. An EV is not for me.
Oil leak at 51000 miles
I purchase a new 2018 Subaru Outback 2.5l base in 2018 in Las Vegas, NV. In 2024 and at 51,000 miles, the same car Dealer where I purchased my Subaru from is telling me they’ve observed an oil leak from the engine’s Cam Carrier, and offered me over $5000.00 to fix it. When I surprisingly told the service advisor, this car has only 51000 miles on it, he responded, the Subaru’s engine run very hot.
Great car at a great price
Subaru outback is extremely practical, affordable and packed with great features. I bought a model with the 3.6 liter and drove across the country twice. First, gas mileage with the cruise control set on 75-80 is over 26mpg. Second, no problems. Flying across deserts with temps over 118° outside. Cruise control set on 75, xm set on channel 75, a/set on 75. Smooth sailing. Third. The lane keep and Subaru eye-sight is flawless as well as the following distance.

Better than expected
It is bigger than the 2009 or earlier models. Eye Sight takes a bit of getting used to but works great once you learn what to expect. Smart cruise control has caught me distracted a couple of times. Backup warning for oncoming traffic saved me once. Lane change warning usually confirms what I already knew but occasionally keeps me in lane. The AWD is, as usual, outstanding. It doesn't cut in as often as my BMW did because it doesn't need to!

Nothing to write home to mother about.
I bought this car after reading a good review by a leading consumer magazine. While it is a good size (length and height) for me lugging around two kayaks or a bicycle, the performance and comfort just aren’t there. I’m in my mid sixties, 6 ft. In height and feel like I ride too low in this vehicle. Getting in and out of the driver’s seat is a pain. It is probably best suited for a grandmother with a few hobbies that require toteing her goods around. I wish there were affordable alternatives.
