Awesome
I love my new Subaru Outback - just recently felt the need to look at vehicles and realized that the Edge I had been driving was a money pit, had no resale value and to top it off, I had been taken advantage of by the dealership. In the process of searching the purchase market for a new car and after careful examination I was drawn to the Subaru. This car is all I will ever need in a vehicle. To the Colorado mountains then to the seashores with road trips a many and yes a car to love!

They call it a "wagon" and "suv"??
First, I should mention I have owned 5 Subaru's, four of them Outback (2004, 2016, 2018, 2018), one a BRZ (2016). Because of my experience with the 2004 Outback (over 400K miles), I continue to buy them today. Both Outbacks stilling running strong. The 2018 Outback is technically a "wagon" most professional reviewers say. Why do they use the term, I don't know, since it's the basic design for all SUV's; a hood, two(or three) row seating, and cargo space access via a hatch, and has roof rack capability. Even though 5 can sit in the car, if it's a regular occurrence, then the Outback will be too small, consider the new Ascent. Plan on 4 maximum for any regular trips over 25 miles. If you have to haul five people all the time, your not reviewing an Outback anyway. Under Performance: I do give it 4 out of 5 stars. True, it lacks "power" but in all seriousness; if someone is looking for power and performance, why are you looking at a wagon or SUV in the first place. Being able to do the quarter mile in ten seconds isn't the reason I am buying this car. It can merge into traffic just fine. Safety is like no other: Electronically: it was almost everything you can get. Some safety electronics you can turn off on the occasion it isn't needed, but I find that to be a user problem, not a vehicle problem. Physically: My nephew is a 15+ veteran being a paramedic and he told me it's one of the few manufacturers the EMS received this: the reinforced B-pillars are just one component of what Subaru calls its "Ring-Shaped Reinforcement Frame body structure." In other words, he said it's a very strong cage around the passenger area of the car. So strong that they have special instructions to use the jaws-of-life if needed. Do a web search, you'll see. Maintenance has been a breeze thanks to having an inverted oil filter on top of the car. All engines should do this. Most everything under the hood is easy to get to for all you DIY's. As mentioned, I do own two 2018 Outbacks (wife and daughter). One car has 23K miles and the other 38K miles...none have any issues. I had planned on a 2016 Outback for the daughter but learned of idle problems with A/C on. I was skeptical of those 2016 reviews until I owned one. For a total of three days. The reviews were right and I returned the car for a full refund. I am surprised of the issues of the 2016 and how it seemed Subaru couldn't fix the problem which is not the norm. Next day, bought another 2018. Very happy I did. I rarely see a good condition Subaru on ANY used car lots other than a dealer. That should tell you something. People keep them or the dealers snap them up at auctions. Of course, I guess that depends on where you live. In North Carolina, the Subaru Outback is gaining popularity fast. My personal estimate in the mountainous areas: 1 out of 10 cars is a Subaru, the others are trucks to pull non-Subaru's out of the ditch.

My second Subaru
Love this car. Went with the 4 and I’m happy with the mileage. Great set of features and confort for the price. I'm now at 160000 miles with no serious issues. I had a minor problem with the outside temp reading way off It seems fine but the dealer made a note of it. The STARLINK does have issues connecting to Apple car play at times and could use more refinement.

Family Outback
Overall great vehicle for the great price compared to the competitors such as Toyota or Mazda. User friendly radio and electronics. Eyesight technology is a great feature and worth the additional cost. Leather interior with front and rear heated seats is comfortable, feels and looks very nice.
