Do your due diligence
2018 legacy owner, less than 2,000 miles. I am upset that I received a letter from Subaru that my CVT transmission's warranty has been extended to 10 years or 100,000 miles, what ever come first. I bought this car thinking I could get an easy 200,000 miles with regular maintenance. Guess I was wrong. After 100,000 miles the $5,000 repair, if needed, will be on me. Should be a recall! Why was I not told this was an issue when I made my purchase? This is a known issue that was not disclosed. I would not have made this purchase had I known of the transmission issues.
Sleeper Sedan
Equipped with Eyesight and all of the other safety technologies, the 2018 Legacy is extremely safe, reliable and comfortable.

Mechanically Sound But...
Over the 6 years that I owned the car, there were no major mechanical issues. However, the electronics were no good. Too many failed sensors (TOMS, window sensor, etc.) and the radio was a mess.
Infotainment system & CVT
I love this car, excellent overall build quality, but the CVT could be a fatal flaw. Like others, I received a warranty notice about the CVT issue being covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. These are pretty generous warranty terms so it's acceptable. Everything else about the car is fantastic. I just wish the trunk opening was wider. Only other gripe, which is common for any vehicle with touch screen infotainment systems is this; there is no way to clear notifications on the screen without reaching over and touching it to clear. If they remapped the built in speech assistant button the steering wheel, this would completely solve the problem and get rid of a useless and non-working piece of technology. Other than that, I'm very happy with the car after 2 years of ownership.
