Good car for the money
I bought my SC2 Coupe in 2002 and I have to say this has been a great car to own. I have had very few problems. In 5 years I have only had to replace the tie-rod, and that's really it. I have the leather seats, and I must say in the summer they are so hot they burn my legs, also in the winter they are freezing! The gas mileage is great! It accelerates well and is faster than I expected it to be. The back seats are way too small, and the interior is so little my head almost hits the roof and I'm 5'5. Overall, I really enjoy having this car.
SC2 fun to drive
Bought an SC2 a year ago with 144K on it. Needed to put our Tahoe aside for awhile because of the gas prices. We already knew the sc2 was a good little car after purchasing one for our son the previous year(a 95) We've had the 96 SC2 for a year so far trouble free. We love this little car. Fun little car to drive. Great gas mileage. Not very roomy especially the back seat, but if you need to vehicle for a trip to home depot, it's great to have the back seat that goes down to give you alot of trunk space. I prefer the SC2 over the other Saturns because I like the sporty look. If you plan to have a lot of backseat passengers, then it's not the car for you.
Never by a Saturn
When I bought my Saturn Iloved it, great pickup and go, realiabilitly. Then after it hit 100,000 miles everything started to go wrong. My car has constently been in the shop for one reason or another, never costing less than $500. I will never again by a Saturn or an American made car again. Nothing but problems. The dealership would not help me due to the fact that I bought the car private party and not though them, very very bad serivce department.
Good little car
I bought this 1996 SC2 in 2002 with 65,500 miles on it. OVerall i am happy with the car. It is fun to drive and handles well. Have had some mechanical problems that probably shouldn't have happened. The gas mileage is excellent (almost 40mpg on highways) and the people at saturn have been great with my repairs. The interior could be better as mine rattles all over the place. As it gets older i find that chaniging my oil is becoming more of a necessity (used to be after 3000 miles the oil would still look great). I am comfortable inside the car, but a bigger person wouldn't fit, and the backseats are useless.
Still Looks New!
Excellent bright red paint job that is not found on newer Saturns! Beautiful sleek body with hidden headlights; handles like an expensive sports car!
