Good used car.
I purchased this vehicle in 2002 for 3900. It only has 89900 miles on it. I've had to replace front brakes and also a bracket that held up the altenator which was pricey since it was so hard to get to. Overall, a good dependable little car. I've put off buying new because mine has less mileage than some cars 4 years old. I think it may have been wrecked before I bought it; always a gamble when opening the trunk as it might not close. Also, paint fading on hood badly. Would definitely buy another Saturn product. 12 years old and still going strong. Although, indicator lights go on and off for no reason! Always keeps me guessing. I have it tuned up every year and oil changes.
Not Reliabale
I got this car with 120000 and the transmtion went out. Cost me 1600 dollars to fix. I then put a alpine cd player in it and it fried the stock power wirer for the radio. Two months and one thousand miles later the trans. went out again. Not a very good car to own!

Best Christmas present ever!
I have never had mechanical problems with this car! It was given to me Christmas of 2002 as my first car with only 36,000 mi. I've driven the heck out of this car and it's on 120,000 mi at this point. Only problem to worry about is the oil, car the burns it like nobody's business. As long as the oil is refilled and changed regularly this car will run for over 200,000 miles without a problem. My friend has a 97 and drove it from New York to Arizona and back without issues and the car has about 230,000 mi on it. Great beginner car, very highly recommended!
Poor Saturn Quality-Buy a Toyota/Honda!
This has been the worst vehicle I have ever owned. Most problems were under the 36000 mile warrenty. I have had the following problems. Warped break rotors (replaced twice). Stuck speedometer (replaced). Short in electrical sunroof (fixed). Oil leaked from gear box (fixed). Clutch burned up (replaced). Generator failed (replaced). Saturn service is polite. My next vehilce will be a Honda or Toyota. The build quality is very poor. Cheap materials for the interior.
Never by a Saturn
When I bought my Saturn Iloved it, great pickup and go, realiabilitly. Then after it hit 100,000 miles everything started to go wrong. My car has constently been in the shop for one reason or another, never costing less than $500. I will never again by a Saturn or an American made car again. Nothing but problems. The dealership would not help me due to the fact that I bought the car private party and not though them, very very bad serivce department.
