This little car has been in my family since its conception. Only minor problems with it, alternator (2 Times) o2 sensor, and curently in need of struts. If your looking for a car you just can't seem to kill, this is a good choice for the penny pincher. It might not be the coolest car, ( comparable to a Pacer), but it is reliable. I like it, but need something a little more "me".

this vehicles engine is a bit noisey with some unsmooth shifting but it is a very reliable car and is fun to drive.

Dead at 38,000 miles

My '93 Saturn SL2 quit at 38,000 miles. It would have cost $2500 for the dealer to rebuild the engine which was more than they would give me for the repaired car. The General Manager of the Saturn dealer I bought it from lectured me that the time element on the warranty was every bit as important as the mileage limitation. By that reasoning if you buy a Saturn with a 3 or 5 year warranty that's all you should expect to get out of the car. He also informed me that his service department was union and worked strictly on commission so he could not give me a break on the cost of the repair no matter how disappointing the car's performance because "it wouldn't be fair."

Dependable, and cheap

Never needed a major repair, change oil and taken in to dealer for checkups regularly. Always starts, very little rust. However, with the wide tires and low vehicle weight, it can be tricky in the snow/ice.
