Used 1999 Pontiac Grand Am Sedan Consumer Reviews
Best GT so far!!
Maintenence. That's the most important thing to remember if you want to keep your car running at top performance. Change oil depending how and where you drive, filters are so important. Every once and a while, take your car to a good, HONEST mechanic. Your car should last you as long as you want it to!! My '99 Grand Am GT has 300,000 kms and still going strong! Remember my first word- MAINTANENCE!!!
DRIVES GREAT WHEN NOT IN THE SHOP!
This car is a mixed bag. When it's running, it's a great car. But I have had sooo many problems with it. I bot it from Hertz with 28,000 mi. Now has 59,000. I've had to replace brakes 2 x's (and they still feel weird), 2 altenators, 2 batteries, water pump. The door hinge is broken, the winshield washer tank leaks. There is an oil leak and transmission fluid is leaking. Just traded it in - couldn't take all the time & money in the shop.
- GT SedanMSRP: $5,999433 mi away
Take my advice!
Where do I begin??? Four months after I bought the car, the power steering went out on me. I have had the power window motor replaced. The alternator is also new. The water pump had to be replaced. And twice now I have had to replace the headgasket. ( Which ran me in the neighborhood of $2,000 EACH time.) The brakes had to be replaced within the first year. And right now it is in the shop because I am having trouble with the transmission. I will never again buy a Pontiac. Plain and simple!!!
BAD NEWS
BRAKES ARE LIKE DISPOSABLE DIAPERS ON THIS CAR. IF YOU DRIVE IT HARD YOU'LL PAY. i HAVE SHUDDERING FROM THE FRONT END AS DO MANY OTHER OWNERS. THE ENGINE IS DIFFICULT TO WORK ON. THE SEATS DON'T LAST AND YOUR REAR SPOILER WILL FADE QUICKLY. PARTS ARE CHEAP FOR THE CAR SO IF YOU'RE MECHANICALLY INCLINED AND HAVE THE TIME YOU CAN KEEP IT GOING. I'M GLAD I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE I FORGOT HOW CRAPPY GM CARS WERE AND HAD PLANNED ON BUYING A TAHOE. NOT ANYMORE. THE CAR IS POORLY DESIGNED JUNK. AVOID IT. RESALE ON THE CAR IS PATHETIC.
Worst Ever!
This is the worst car ever built! When we bought the car it had 40,000 miles. So far we have had to replace the gasket intake, windows twice, brakes twice, the electrical system shorts out, and now our transmission is slipping. I'm buying a Ford next time!
