Never again!
I bought this car brand new from the dealership. So far I have had 5 recalls and numerous other problems. I, like many of you, have heard that "chirping noise" that the belts make. I was told that it is normal. Ok, so I have an annoyingly noisey car. I can deal with that. What I could not "deal" with was that the catalyic converter and the PCM (the car's computer) both went out. Just to let you all know, they ARE covered by the Federal Emmisions Warranty of 8yr/80,000 mile. However, the dealership (not the one I bought it at) had me spend over $800 in unnecessary repairs.Long story made short, I traded in my unreliable deathtrap of a Sentra for a reliable safe Civic.
Good Car
Excellent car for student, wish it didnt have so many little rattles in the door panels. Overall pretty good.
far better than anticipated
88,000 miles and nary a problem. I love the handling, the speed the growl of the motor. I have outmaneuvered many more powerful and supposedly better handling vehicles with the expectant higher price tag all over the Rockies and the Sierras, as ell as PCH up to Frisco. I have 205s but will change them back to 195s as the difference is only minimal.
Good Little Car; Fun to Drive
My wife has driven this car for nearly three years now and it has only had tow minor recall issues. Other than that, only oil and filter chages and new rubber at 40k miles. Handling is very good and it is actually more fun to drive than my 2001 Camry--great in the snow, too.
2000 Sentra Review
It's a great option for those who are looking for a reliable, fun to drive car. Comparable to the Civic, but way cheaper! Totally worth it's price.
Wonderful over all.
Overall a wonderful car. Quick, reliable, and stylish. Quick do to the legandary SR20De engine. Reliable because of good build quality. And stylish in that it has a mini Maxima car feel to it. Having been a crash in this car I am definitely recommend its safety.
56,300 miles & not a single problem yet!
This is one of the most reliable cars that I have ever bought. I redline the engine quite often & it still runs like brand new. It pulls fairly strong for a 2 liter engine. It also sips gas. About 25 MPG city & 32 MPG highway. The suspension is pretty firm. Too bad that they discontinued the SE in 2002.
Bang for the Buck
I have well over 75,000 miles on my SE and it continues to run like new. My car has all of the standard bolts ons (More than 25Hp more than stock) and is used as an autocross and track car often gaining better times than other cars twice as expensive. Even with the hard use, it just keeps on going without a problem yet. Great car for the money with a surprising amount of performance.
2000 Nissan Sentra
One of the Best cars I have ever owned. I like it better than our 2000 Maxima. It's easier to get in and out of than the Maxima for some design flaw. Some days I wish I would have purchased the 2.0 model for just a little more pep, but I really have no regrets! Great car!
Great inexpensive commute car
This model of Sentra is bigger and roomier than previous ones. It was great buy for the money and it performs nicely as an every day commute vehicle.
ABS Brakes - PLEASE
Yes, I have that chirping noise in the morning before the car is warmed. It started at $11k miles. I thought it was the brand of gas I was using. NOT! Okay, the brakes. The car skids even at 15 to 25 miles. I drive two to three cars back on the highway and streets rain or shine. It's a great car - but it needs a better braking system.
An Honest to Goodness 200K car
I drive 91 miles (one way) to work. I bought this car for economy and reliability. I expected durability from Nissan. I have 85K miles on this car and have had one repair bill of $116. This car averages 30 mpg in town and 33-37 mpg on the highway (A/C causes the lower number). I have a 20 year-old son and a 17 year-old son. Keeping them out of my car is almost impossible.
Lots of fun to drive w/o spending alot
We bought our Sentra straight off the truck at the Nissan dealership and have just fell in love with it. It's the perfect car on gas milage and really fun to drive! The only drawback was some vibrating sound in the dash at only 11k miles. Have since traded for a larger Altima. Overall, I've owned 4 Nissans and have had nothing but great service.
I love Sally the Sentra
I bought Sally the Sentra the summer after I graduated high school. It has been 5 years and I have not had one single complaint! It gets excellent gas mileage, it is fun to drive, still peppy even with 100,000 miles on it. There was a recall on it right after I got it, and when it was fixed it got better mileage than the sticker said. I would keep it forever, we just need something a little roomier.
Owner of 10 years
I bought this car model when it was first released back in late 1999 as 2000. Typically I don't buy first model years but in this case I did because it was so much superior than the Civic or Toyota. I had problems with its electrical system and A/C in the first couple of years but after sorting that out, things have been great and I am very pleased. The last year or so a check engine light has come on, it is harmless for the part and has been on for about 40,000 miles so go figure. I am very impressed by the car now in its 10th year of ownership and I am tempted to repeat another Sentra purchase.
I can't believe it's been 10 years!
I purchased my SE w/ perform pck in August 2000 new with 23 miles. It now has over 210k! (I still have the window sticker:O) It's always been fun to drive and it has all the features I could have wanted. In 10 years it's never left me stranded, never not started and never stuck in the snow. And up until about 1 1/2 yr ago it rarely needed anything other than routine maint (and a couple O2 sensors!). Now it has a small oil leak, and some annoying issues: Cd player died, spare tire well fills w/water if driving while raining and heat shield cannot be fixed-it vibrates off exhaust pipe, etc. But I still love this car!
love it
kind of cramped inside with two kids in the back seat, but otherwise I love this car. Have had it for over 3 years.
Great car
In the last year i have driven this car to canada and back from california, down to san diego and back twice and a couple time to reno. NO PROBLEM. This car has never broken down and in the last year i have put about 45000 mile on it.
Reliable Nissan
I bought my SE automatic used and now have over 83,000 miles on it. The horn quit working (broken wire in steering column) and an emission valve failed. That's been it. Not even a bulb. I just do normal maintenance on the car. This is the best car I've owned.
Great car - great value
Great all around car. Good mileage, comfortable for small family, reliable, great mpg in these $2.25/gal days. Honda reliable for less money.
Great car for the money
Everything I expected in a good quality, economical car! More affordable than the Hondas and Toyotas yet the same or better performance, gas mileage and reliability.
