Fantastic addition to the Maxima legacy
This is my second Maxima (previosuly having owned a 2000 SE) and the new one is just a great, with more power to boot!
excellent
NISSAN DID EXCELLENT JOB, DESIGNING THE 2004 MAXIMA, I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT, I GET ALOT OF LOOKS FROM PEOPLE, WONDER WHAT CAN OF CAR IT IS. DESIGN OUT BEATS, SOME OF THE TOP LUXARY CARS. CANNOT NOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT MY CAR.

only problems
The car look great but the praise stops there. I spent over $5000 in repairs. ABS replaced (@2500), bearings wheel ($1000) axle shaft ($500), fuel rail ($450) to name just a few. I spend more time dealing with the problems of this car than with any other car I owned, and I have quite a few The dealership service was very unprofessional and rough, All in all I wouldn't recommend this car to anybody to buy.
evs and kevs max
Love everything about our new max except we have been having problem starting car in very cold temps(0-20 degrees).Dealer gave us a cold weather starting tips bulletin(they could'nt correct problem). Is anybody else having same problem?LOVE THIS CAR ANYWAY!
Terrific car
I've had the car a month and just love driving it. It's peppy and handles great. Good gas mileage. Many terrific features (See Favorite features). This is my second Maxima; I base the reliability on my previous ('95) auto.
The only car to own.
This is my third Maxima and it is the best. I love the pick up it has on the road and the new styling is superb. I receice a lot of comments from strangers about what a good looking car I own and it makes be proud. The best part about Maximas is there reliability.
Smooooth...
This car does everything smooth...Acceleration, braking, steering and appearance. The Maxima has attitude under the hood clear back to the twin dual pipes. A similarly equipped Audi A4 would be about $5K more without the "cool" factor. I've never owned a car that gets stared at so often.
Satisfaction
Best car I've ever owned. I have owned two other Maima's and they did well for me. I have a 5 yr lease on this one and if it continues the same satisfaction, I may purchase it at the end of the lease. It handels like a sports car but with all the luxury of the German cars and for much less money. Even my friends who own "German" cars are envious of me.
This car is a 10
I would recommend buying this car to absolutely anyone! This car is the best thing to hit in 2004!! It looks great and feels great to ride in!! If you can afford it pick one up now or you will be missing out on one of the best cars made in decades.
LOOKING GOOD
AND I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME WHO NOTICED THE HORRIBLE TURNING RADIUS, MENTIONED MANY TIMES.
More Pros Than Cons
Saw this car while on vacation in Florida and fell in love with it. It's a very competent road car, with powerful acceleration and a roomy cabin. Styling (other than grille) is top notch. Had to replace front shocks under warranty and now there is a vibration in steering wheel. I hope can be remedied with tire balancing, but have read many complaints in the past about wheel/tire issues related to this. Overall, have been very happy with car and it's the best one I've ever owned.
This is my third Maxima
This is a great car inside and out. Comfortable and exciting to drive. Only objections are the poor turning radius and the occasional tendency of the car to "get away" from you when accelerating under certain conditions, two flaws I knew about before purchasing, but which did not deter me because Maximas are so reliable. Also, original set of tires went 60K miles before needing replacement. I owned 1989, 1994 and 2004 models and liked them all. Had zero mechanical problems. Drove the 1994 for 10 yrs, 105K miles and sold it for $5K. I do a lot of highway driving and this car is fantastic for long trips.
My Nissan
When it was time to buy a new car. I knew that Nissan was going to be the car of choice. We had owned a Maxima before and after 10 years and 140,000 miles, sold it to my nephew, as a first car. He still is driving it...and that has been 3 years ago! We purchased a 2004 Nissan Maxima. I liked the sleek, sporty design, and it still had enough interior room for the kids in my carpool! I was glad to see the return of smaller rear lights. The only thing I have noticed is the ride of the car. Because the standard tires are Eagle Goodyear low profile, you can feel every bump, groove. It sometimes feels like you are riding in a truck!
AWESOME CAR!!!
I purchased the 2004 Nissan Maxima over a month ago, and I LOVE IT. Its sytlish, fun to drive, and easy to handle. This car fits my personalilty - which is professional, fun, outgoing, full of energy, and stylish!! I highly recommend the 2004 Nissan Maxima. This is my second Maxima, and I am sold on this car.
LM's review
I have never before been in a car where anywhere you go heads are turning. This car has and does it all. This is my 5th nissan. I've owned saabs and toyotas I will never buy anything other than a nissan. They are great cars for a good value.
WOW
This car is amazing. Super quiet, super smooth, super fast. I have people stop me and say how much they love my car. It's so comfortable to drive too
2004 Max
The 2004 maxima has great handling and a high level of comfort. Sports performance coupled with luxory, in my opinion, give this car the highest rating in its class. I've been driving this car for 8 months now and I haven't found one inconsistency. I have other drivers in beamerz and benzs' doing double takes. I love this car!
THIS SHOULD BE THE ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM
STUNNING AUTOMOBILE THAT REALLY TURNS HEADS. PERFORMANCE IS OUTSTANDING. IMMEDIATE POWER UPON REQUEST. MAKES LANE CHANGES IN FAST MOVING TRAFFICE A BREEZE. 265 HP WILL SNAP YOUR HEAD BACK. WHAT A JOY.
From 02 Altima to 04 Maxima
Bought the SL. Got 26.5 mpg on recent trip. Getting 22 in town. Only problem is gas cap is very hard to turn when putting back on. And, heating control settings still confusing when operating manually instead of on Automatic. Now have 2800 miles on it. Especially enjoying the Sirius Satellite Radio (no commercials) Smooth and quiet ride and plenty of power.
Couldn't Be Happier
What can i say. I looked at every kind of car BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, Acura, and many other cars. For the money and quality you can't beat the Max. For acceleration it killed all the other cars that I tested. In a little over 5 months I have put 7200 miles on the car and no problems with it at all. The sound system is awesome along with the display of the navigation Def get the navigation it is worth it.
OK
The ride is not as smooth as I thought it would be. The noise inside during riding is loud. Gas mileage is nothing to write home about.
nice ride
my fourth maxima and probably the best of all. the car has plenty of power and a great sound system to keep you rockin.I would recommend this car to any prospective buyer, they will love it.
Maximum entertainment
A fun car to drive. Great powertrain, acceleration and handling are terrific. Bought for my wife who is not into cars and she loves it.
Ted's Review
Fabulous Car overall. Had trouble with fuel pump but was replaced immediately upon learning of problem. Outside a couple of items I would like see changed, we are extremely happy we purchased the car.
my new Maxima
I've HAD THIS CAR A LITTLE OVER ONE WEEK aND SO FAR SO GOOD. THE GAS MILEAGE IS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTING SO FAR, I'M HOPING IT WILL IMPORVE. RIGHT NOW ONLY 15MPG, mostly CITY DRIVING. The power, handling, and style is what I like best . Reliability is very important to me so only time will tell. I've driven Honda Accords for over 20 years but the new Accord didn't offer the stylishness of the Maxima.
Wonderful Car
I saw this car while driving past the dealer and stopped in to take a look. I loved the car from the 1st day and ended up buying the SE model. The car had many great features but it rode much too hard for my wife and me. After about 3 months and much discusion I was able to get a fair price from the dealer for a trade to the SL. WOW what a great car. It is very comfortable and handles like a dream. I have a problem keeping down to the speed limit on the highways, it just wants to sail along. There are many great features on this vehicle but the automatic entry and exit is one I truly appreciate. I have had all the routine service performed by Nissan, they have been excellent.
Maxima doesn't disappoint
I love driving the new Maxima and I've only had it since October 2, 2003. It's a great deal of fun to drive, and gets "oohs" and "aahs" a lot. It provides a smooth ride, powerful engine, and is very comfortable.
maxie taxie
great car.. this is our 5th maxima and we love the car more all the time!
It's all about the VQ
This is a sexy car, with an awesome rear end, but only mediocre from the front. The engine is the velvety smooth 3.5 VQ V-6. It has hustle to spare, and will out perform similiar vehicles in it's category. The ride on the SE is very firm, and most road imperfections are felt. It handles very nice, and is comodeous inside. The skyview is cool, but no moonroof.
This car is awesome
I got this car when it first came out and it is awesome. I have the car fully loaded with navigation. This car is worth the money and it drives like a dream.
2004 Maxima
Purchased 4/18,have driven it to Glacier Park and back and around home area. The most comfortable car I've ever driven; very smooth the ride. On Glacier trip the car drove itself.Did return trip to in 2 1/2 days;second day over 600 miles was a breeze. Only problems I had are: getting used to fact it is wider than previous car and being careful not to oversteer on curves. Other than that, no problems so far. Great looking car,for an over 60 it doesn't look like an old lady's car. 12 year old "grand" cousin calls it a cool car.
Loaded 3.5 SE
Equipped to Journeyman Package Level plus VDC control and stability option. Other equipment included: GPS Nav System,LCD computerized instrument display, moon roof,350 watt "tuned to car" Bose stereo system, heated leather seats/steering wheel, Serius Satelite Radio. First car since my new 1969 BMW that Blew me away with car's impressive balance of solid performance, handling, braking and interior luxury/comfort. Impressed with exceptionally good gas mileage. Interesting note on back of gas lid door says "For maximum performance use premium fuel."
A Max of a car
Wonderful vehicle! Smooth, quiet and roomy with enough toys inside to keep passengers happy. Big turning circle a turn off but otherwise very happy.
What a Kick!
This is just an awesome car, 265 HP is great, and luxury is unbelievable new console design looks like an airplane & computer. Baby seat in back, yet as front passenger I can still lean all the way back with lots of leg room, very comfy!
Worse Nissan Ever
I've had my maxima for 5 years and already have transmission problems. It will cost me $4000 to get a rebuilt transmission which is horrible for a 5 year old car. Will never buy a Nissan for a long time. Would warn anyone buying a Nissan Maxima and for them to google Nissan Maxima and transmission problems.
2004 SE
My Maxima now has 6,000 miles on it and I have experienced absolutely no problems with it. It runs and handles better than the (now old) BMW 5 series. The skylight is a little different but the kids like it. The trunk swallows golf bags and the back seat is actually comfortable.
Excellent Car and Excellent Company
I had an Altima before this that never gave me problems, and now I love my new Maxima, it drives beautifully and looks beautiful. ONLY problem I've found is the turning radius, can't make a sharp U-Turn. Otherwise, best car for the money out there.
Great car
I love everything about this car.
My Maxie
This is the first Nissan I've owned and let me tell you...I love it!!! The 2004 Maxima is beautiful and fun to drive. I'm especially enjoying the Navagational system. I highly recommend this wonderful car with its sleek curves and luxuious interior, to anyone desiring a classy vehicle that is fun to drive.
2004 Nissan Maxiam
This is a well built, comfortable and fun to drive. The features on this model are significantly improved over previous years models.
I love my Maxima!!!!!
The performance is excellent. Gas mileage is approx. 22 mls per gal. I drive often on the turnpike and with the cruise control its a joy. I drive 30 miles a day to my job and its a pleasure to drive this car. I can't say enough good things about it. Driving my Maxima has become a hobby.
Undecided
I love my maxima, but as previously stated, it makes so much noise while youre driving it. It feels like you're riding it offroad and it makes the driver and passenger shake. My front struts also went bad a 7k miles. other then that, I love it. I dont know if I'd buy another maxima in the future.
Sleek Look
I have had my Maxima for about 3 months. I have two sons and we all love the roomy interior. The only fault I found is the turning radius and the front wheel drive is not my favorite, but I am getting use to it. I love it!
Nissan Has A Winner
I have to tell you. I've had my Max since 2003. It's a great car with both power and style. Still turns heads after 2 years! The engine is smooth and powerful without sacrificing MPG. I avg. 24.9 MPG. Not bad for such a strong motor! If I have anything negative to say, it's nothing different that what's already been in reviews - fix the torque steer issue and work on the wide turning radius. Other than that - I love my Maxima!!
BEST CAR
This is the greatest car I have ever had. It is so smooth to drive it and its extremely powerful and fast.
A great car
The car is solid. The transmission is superb and I like the styling. I have 8200 miles on the car and had a few rattles in the interior, but the power train is the best I have ever driven. I didn't know that Renault is the primary owner of Nissan when I bought this car!! After 4 months, I have only seen 2 or 3 more of these on the road!
Boy This Thing Is FASTTT
This car is so fast it's almost scary to drive. THIS model is definately worthy of the title of "4-door sports car"
2004 Maxima SL
Most outstanding noticable feature is the motor performance - - smooth, very good response. Handles easily. Interior is excellent, very comfortable with passenger controls. Many features. Interior is very roomy. Significantly larger than the Camry we owned previously.
Great Car
This is truly a drivers car, and the bose 320 watt system is great.Nissan went all the way with this new design. This car turns more heads than a Mercedes!
Best Car I Ever Owned
The best preformance you could find for the dollar investment. The interior is wonderful. Great driving position.
