This is our second leaf. We had a 2017 SL with the 30kwh battery. It did cause us some range anxiety, surely at first. My wife was very skeptical regarding that car. We made it work and drove it 14,000 miles from July 2017 to April 2018 before we traded it in on the 2018. The new car is so significantly different, my wife prefers driving this car over our luxury sedan. I enjoy driving this car as well. With the free charging at local charging stations, it is a no brainer if you are into saving money on fuel cost. I have 16,000 miles on this car now, since April 2018, I have spent $65 on a cabin air filter two weeks ago, and that's it. I have done only the free tire rotations as scheduled, otherwise the only reason it goes to the dealership is to charge as I am in the area. I get free refreshments, and hang out for a bit. The dealer I bought it from also has detailed my car twice for me during the maintenance trips. I can't explain how easy this car is to own. I have an 8.1kw solar panel system on my house, so for my wife who's not into waiting around to charge, it doesn't cost me anything to charge at home. I mean it is free. I do not have an electric energy bill since last year when it was installed. We have bought two of these leafs, qualified for all the tax rebates, which from the fed alone was $15,000 combined on our tax return, the state of Colorado gave us $10,000 combined at the time of purchase, and Xcel energy gave us $10,000 straight off the top of the first leaf, but nothing on the second as we chose the zero percent interest loan for the 2018. So we basically got a car for free. We have driven about 30,000 of the easiest and cheapest miles in two nicely equipped Nissan's. I do not plan on trading in the 2018, it gets 150 miles of range in a normal temperature, which is sufficient for the driving we do. I look forward to getting the SL Plus for the times we need the added range. I will be quite happy trading in my BMW, and not missing it... too much. September 2019: Update We now have just over 23000 miles on the 2018 Leaf. I would say this has been a fair amount of time to really get to know this car. I will say that it still is a very easy car to own. We have done next to no maintenance. I've rotated the tires twice and taken it in for a rattle in which they removed the full dashboard to finally solve the rattle mystery, something to do with an airbag bolt, and also got a new nissan windshield a couple weeks ago due to a stone chip. Either way, still charging when possible at the local EVGO or the like charging stations. It's quite nice not paying for fuel. The car has held up well, everything still works.

Great EV, just don't pay MSRP/Tesla prices

Nissan is currently (June 2021) giving thousands of dollars in incentives, plus state and federal credits that can bring a fully-loaded Leaf Plus down to ~$25,000 or less. At a $42k+ sticker price, it doesn't impress compared to a Model 3, but at $25k after incentives and tax credits, it's a fantastic value with 200+ mile range and lots of great features. Things I love: Cheapest car on the market with ProPilot's capabilities Cheapest 200+ mile EV Single-pedal driving feels great in stop and go Very spacious trunk (coming from a Prius Prime this is wonderful) Surprisingly powerful motor on the Plus trims (equivalent to the Bolt) Android auto Physical controls for climate control (as opposed to on the touch screen) Things I don't love that you'll have to evaluate to see if they're deal breakers: Center console sticks into the legroom more than I'd like, but seats are otherwise comfortable Visibility around the A-pillar is so-so No option to automatically stop charging at a certain percentage Touch screen can feel unresponsive at times

A Solid Alternative to Tesla Nation Etc.

One year of ownership on the books - and the Leaf has officially become a welcome member of the household. It has done this by providing a fun and reasonably quick driving experience, perfect reliability, delivering its 225 mile range as advertised, and just having a cheeky presence on the road. I'm a former Tesla owner, so there's no need to explain how the Leaf can't touch the 0-to-60 figures of anything from the Tesla stable. The SL model has plenty of oomph to zip around town, merge onto the freeway, and cruise along at the typical 75-to-80 mph range on the California highways. Innovation is swell, but it's also pleasant it is to own a car with a traditional dealer network standing behind it. Service appointments are quick and painless, and accessories (extra floor mats etc) are easily attainable. Over the air updates are not part of the equation. But when the car needed a software update for the audio system, I was OK having a Latte for an hour while the dealership did its thing. If you're a heavy road-tripper, the Leaf likely isn't your best choice. But if you have a 240V fast-charge in the garage, the Leaf fits the bill as a perfect commuter option, with enough range to head to the wineries, lakes, golf courses (yeah - this is Northern CA) for your typical day trip. There are a few de-merits out there. After a year of tweaking and playing with the audio system, it's still not very impressive for a Bose branded system. Bass and depth are limited, more in line with what I would expect for a "base" audio option. It's still annoying that Nissan cheaped out and didn't include a power passenger seat. And there's some work to do with brake feel. It feels a bit more golf cart than sporty sedan. On the other hand, single pedal driving is easy and intuitive when the car is in the "Eco-Drive" mode. The intuitive cruise control works like a charm, and I love the 360-camera view option. Balance it all out, and the Leaf impresses as an EV with that ingrained reliability and careful fit and finish we have come to expect from the Japanese automakers. If you need extended range, this obviously isn't your best choice. But for a price around 30K (purchase price after discounts and Federal / CA incentives), we're quite pleased, and would definitely consider another Nissan EV down the line.

Good commuter car, not so good for road trips

My wife and I love the car for local driving. It is ideal for my 18 mile round trip commute. I installed a level 2 charger at home so keeping charged is easy and there are chargers at work. Although the range is listed as 150-160, in winter 100 miles is more realistic. Cold weather battery performance, heat, headlights, and driving over 60mph really decrease the range. An inconveniently out of service Level 3 charger turned our 3 hour drive home from thanksgiving into a 7 hour marathon of hunting for working chargers and driving at 50 without heat to stretch the battery. We’ll take our Honda Fit for the next trip over 50 miles. Get the Plus if you can justify the extra $7000

after driving this car more than 1.5 yrs, I still like it very much: almost 0 maintenance, extremely low running cost; handles very well, accelerates very well. The list goes on and on. But I will say a few things that I think could use some improvements: no day-time running light, Nissan should not save on safety related things. when I turn off the car, the information about battery charge level disappears. this should be an easy fix, as the charging timer is set after the car is turned off, so I have to remember the current charge level. Also, instead of setting a charging time, maybe also a level so that I do not over charge? do not know if Nissan has a channel to hear customers' feedback. ah, the car radio unit failed and that's under warranty. i take it a rare incident, just back luck, not an indication of the quality of the car. other than this, no other issues at all.

I’ve only had it for a month but so far it’s been great. With the Nissan Rebates, State and Federal rebates I ended up paying only $21k plus tax. UPDATE: 20,000 miles and still feels like new. No creeks or rattles. Just plug it in and go.

An improvement but still lacking some essentials

Ok, first this is not our first electric vehicle. We traded a 2018 Chevy Bolt for the 2019 Leaf Plus. The reason we traded was the Leaf was a much more comfortable drive with a couple of exceptions. So I am comparing to the Chevy Bolt. 1) The Bolt was much more fun to drive. With the same size motor it accelerated much better than the Leaf. 2) The regenerative braking on the Bolt is much, much better than the Leaf. This could be the reason the Bolt gets much better mileage. 3) The best I can get on the Leaf is 3.4 miles/kw-hr. I routinely got 4.5 miles/kw-hr on the Bolt. Although the Bolt was rated for 238 miles, we routinely got around 280 miles per charge. The Leaf Plus is rated for 226 miles but we struggle to get 200 miles. 4) The seats in the Leaf are a step above the Bolt. That was our biggest complaint with the Bolt. Leaf seats are very nice.....But whoever at Nissan decided to put that suede leather stripes on the Leather seats should be re-assigned. It is a dirt magnet and gets stained when you condition your leather seats. 5) Nissan needs to have a cooling/heating system for the battery. All the other manufacturers do for a reason. 6) Stock leaf wheels on the top of the line model are ugly as sin. 7) The Leafs ride is much more refined and just feels like a heavier car (actually almost 400 lbs heavier). This means it feels more refined but does not handle near as well as the Bolt. 8) There needs to be a memory setting for the drivers seat. 9) Why no sunroof.....The Hyundai Kona Electric has one.....The new E-Mustang will have a huge one...... 10) The information system is hard to navigate and many settings are hidden in sub-menus 11) Nissan did put a navigation system in the Leaf where the Bolt has to rely on your phone. 12) The back up noise maker on the Leaf is annoying. 13) And my biggest gripe....the trim pieces at the bottom of center console stick out into your leg room. These hit my six foot frame right in the knee and is just very uncomfortable. IF they were padded would not be as bad but the hard plastic hurts my leg. All told.....My wife likes the Leaf better as more comfortable but the Chevy Bolt has more power, better handling, and much better mileage. To bad you cannot mate the two cars and take the best attributes of each. Even so, If you spend two weeks with an electric vehicle you will never go back to gas.......

So far I have not had a single problem. After installing a level 2 charger in my garage my 80 mile round trip to work and back is no problem. I usually have 35 to 50 percent battery life remaining. I’m currently at only 8k but so far so good. I was charging at the Nissan dealership across the street from work every other day but after my power bill only increased by about $80 a month wile only charging at home not worth the walk. My only small concern is the lack of a spare tire. I added a good plug kit to the compressor and sealer that Nissan provides.

I bought my first 2012 Leaf in 2015 from a local used car lot at a great price. After 5 years, I still love to drive it, but the battery technology has advanced so much, I was ready to upgrade. Shopped around, considered a Tesla, but couldn't beat the quality at the price I got with a 2020 SL Plus. With 3 times the range, and all the new tech, I expect to enjoy this vehicle for years to come. Once you drive an EV, you never want to go back. The driving experience is just more refined. After, ICE vehicles just feel like antiques.

Best car I have ever owned!

One day, I was driving our 2018 Leaf S and as we were headed straight through an intersection, a driver turning left traveling the opposite direction failed to yield. Our car was a total loss. My daughter and I who were in the car walked away from the accident - we both had slight neck issues, but a few chiropractic visits helped - he said that he was surprised how mild our injuries were, but pointed out that the scrunch zones in the front of the car saved us. Due to this outcome, then, is it any wonder that we purchased a 2019 Leaf S? We did consider the Leaf S Plus, but the dealer gave us such a great deal on the Leaf S that we purchased the same kind of car. Even though the 2019 model did not change, we noticed there was a slight change to the external mirrors that made them easier to use (my wife noticed, but I didn't). It is smooth, and my wife can do her hour long commute round trip on one charge. We find the quick charge handy. (I'm an electrical engineer - we noticed that the Leaf monitors voltage, current, temperature, and charge state and adjusts accordingly, so we have no problem using the quick charge.) The performance and comfort are great! Many people who drive electrics have range anxiety, but we found out that we can predict when we will need a charge and plan for it accordingly. While longer trips are harder due to increasing charge times due to an increasing battery temperature, again, that is predictable. This car is perfect for 95% to 99% of our driving. Also, it carries 5 people comfortably - kind of like a mini SUV!

Fantastic long range ev. Recently got back from a 650 mile vacation and pro pilot did 90% of the driving. Used a fast charger at Nissan for free and one electrified America one for a couple of bucks. I got the heat pump package and it’s great too. Test drove a M3, but the seats are too low. The + seat high is better, (higher)then the std leaf, much higher then M3. I also like a hatch better then trunk ev.

I bought my used 2019 Nissan Leaf SL 3/21. I’ve had it four months now and I just love it. I was surprised to find that we didn’t need a level 2 charger, despite the lack of chargers in my rural area of any sort. We used the 110v wall plug and the cable that came with the car for the better part of a year and added a ‘dryer outlet’ to the garage. We still use the cable that came with the car but have faster charging and it’s better for the battery. I was surprised at how cheap the carpet material is. It bugs me. But I’ve seen the level of finishes decline in cars in general over the last decade. I like the look of the suede stripes, but that was a bad choice too. I would have rather had synthetic leather (like VW) than have to take the extra care for the suede that they saved money on. On the plus side it’s a beautiful machine. Reliable. Easy. Super quiet. Great performance. Chock full of all the tech you could want, plus a few more that you didn’t know how much you’d want. Plenty of pick up- she’s fast off the line! The Bose sound system is nice. I even like the one-pedal driving once I got used to it. Didn’t think I’d like the Pro Pilot Assist, because I couldn’t imagine needing it. But it works very well especially if you have to eat on the way to an appointment, driving the highway. I haven’t been this excited about a car… maybe ever. I am definitely saving money on fuel costs. I’ve driven it more than 1,000 miles every month since I’ve had it. I feel like the price for a new one was too high. But I still recommend it. It’s a great car. 11mo. Update:I still love this car. Took it in for a check up where they only rotated the tires and looked at everything on their checklist. No problems at all. So much fun to drive and so damn quiet & comfortable! 16mo update:still no perceptible battery degradation, no problems in 15k mi. I really drive it. The car market is crazy right now so I feel like I should caution used car buyers to search for known problems with Consmr Rpts,, check engine light dot com and other places that rate reliability. Leaf really only had one bad year, but Bolt and others have had hiccups like any new model but you don’t want to get stuck with an expensive problem. Otherwise you’ll be fine. Don’t fear the EV. It’s fantastic. I’m saving so much money on gas even though I had to pay a ‘highway tax’ $200/yr when I register the car. Plus now my kid is driving it too, commuting to college. Huge gas and service savings. 1yr 10mos update: (Edmunds wants another update so here it is:) The car is great. It’s driven 1 1/2hrs every weekday and it’s the first choice by everyone in the house; My husband asked to take it to work today bc I didn’t need it. Still at 100% percent battery life. The good news is It’s a great vehicle which will save you SO MUCH gas money. The bad news is everyone wants to drive it and I’ve heard Nissan is phasing it out for the bigger Arya. Because I feel like I’d have wanted this exact car again whenever I need another. Maybe we’ll get the rights to switch out batteries here in the USA. idk

This car is fantastic. There’s no need for a commuter car that runs on gas when you have something this nice. It drives wonderfully. Free charging so far, have only paid once by plugging it in at my house. We commute to and from work and use it for short trips to the store or errands. Got a fantastic deal on it. It’s a no-brainer. For the price, nothing compares.

The car itself drives well, and I've been a nissan fan for years, but all of the plusses are negated for 3 reasons. 1. The seats are really uncomfortable. 2. the steering wheel is barely adjustable. These two things together make driving even short distances very uncomfortable, and long distances painful. I will be very happy when I can get rid of it. If you are considering a leaf, do a long test drive. The other thing I think is pretty crazy, is while there is an app to connect to your car that works relatively well, they want you to pay a monthly fee after a few months to continue it. It's not worth it, and it should just be included with the car.

We call it the Coffee Bean for it`s brown color. Been driving it for almost 3 years. Can't wait to get a 2019. We need the range. We live 40 miles from the major city in our area and a round trip in the winter requires a charge to get home . We just want that bigger battery. It's an SL. We love the leather, sound system and the way it drives. Just love it!!!

Range anxiety

Only had the car a week now but the range anxiety is High. Nissan advertised that the Leaf can charge on your standard house 110 Vac outlet - they don't tell you it takes 22 hours! Charging station readily available - They don't tell you that most are 32 AMP and can take up to 5 hours for a full charge (About 25 miler of charge per hour), High rate charges can charge about 70% in 45 Minunts (But try to find a DC chatger that is working or availble is the challenge). So far it cost me $975 to have a 50 AMP service installed into my garage and $649 for a Faster charger. I love the car, nice ride but the range anxiety is kicking my A$$! Side note, you would think a 150 watt inverter would be included in a EV, my Ford CMax had one that I used all the time (Sorry ford stoped making the CMax). The other thing is Nissan advertisers 218 to 228 miles per charge, what they don't tell you is that Nissan recommend a 80% charge (192 Miles). If you don't drive much, 5 Stars but if your using the car for a self employed business - poor choice. My cutoff was when the car could get 200 to 225 miles on a charge, my sewwt spot. Yes 192 is close but they advertised 218 to 225 not 30 miles less! Nick in Arizona (Home Inspector)

Effortless and Very Pratical

First ... too many young folks who are supposedly experts in evaluation of cars tend to want speed, styling, range, and pizzazz. Beware of some of that nonsense. The Leaf has always been an EV from the ground up - and proven. Second, none of these smaller EV entries are sports cars and should not be pitted against each other in this way. If you want to spend $50 thousand w/o incentives go for it - just status symbol nonsense as well. The Leaf SV Plus my wife and I have had for a year .. has been flawless. If you drive as recommended, it is safe, reliable, clean looking in and out, more environmentally friendly that others inside, and does solidly well as a great second car commuter. We live out in the country in the midwest even and usually need about 60 comfortable miles to do what we need. This car loses a bit of mpg on cold days for sure, but with 62 group battery - we never feel range anxiety even on the coldest of day if we're 80% charged before going out on those COLDEST days of -10. Still learning some tech on preheating. I think visibility could be improved on both front and back pillars. I think also that a wider tire might be wise in the summer to smooth things out better IF you commute on curvy roads ... so it may be the case you'd lose some range doing that, but may be worth it somewhat. WE charge at home for the most part as I installed my own 'dryer' 4 spade recepticle no problem for the 220 power. Cost me $45.00 since I had a branch box in my garage. I do think Nissan should step and provide a new adapter ... for the 220 since the ChadeMo was made for the Japanese market and U.S. folks deserve the CCS as well as a customer loyalty expectation and care for their customers. They knew this when selling the 2020 - 2022 versions of my Leaf SV Plus and other models. Nissan should have a toll free number to discuss this at the corp level and not send folks back to the dealership who have no say about this issue. Overall , solid car. It corners a bit if pushed, the tires are stretched if cornered too fast (remember not a race car - stay within itself and speed limits folks), and the brakes could be improved as well. Would buy another ... but Nissan will have to work on these issues or the new Kia EV6 will take over as a good value going forward.

Deceptive Range on Highway

I would buy the Leaf again only if: - The EVGo fast-charging stations (including dealer) within 2-5 miles of their home - The dealer have a fast charger installed. I would not buy the Leaf from a dealer without fast charger installed. Also, they should know that Leaf is a city commuter car. The range is severely downgraded for highway driving. On my recent trip from Irvine to San Diego (90 mile) at night (10PM), I drove the Leaf 2018 was fully charged (150 mile range) on Eco mode with no AC and no traffic jam but it consumes 120 miles. I was Deeply disappointed. Please Tell me How and where to relate this range problem to Nissan.

Amazing BANG for the BUCK

The 2nd gen Nissan Leaf is an amazing car and more amazing value. Many compare the 40kw Leaf to the Model 3 but the truth is, they are not even close to the same price. With the dealer discount and full $7500 tax credit, a Leaf can easily be had for low to mid $20k’s out the door factoring in the tax credit and some negotiating skills. My advice would be get the SV trim to get the standard quick charger, upgraded 17” rims, leather steering wheel, and 7” center display with Apple CarPlay (S model has no Apple CarPlay and 5” screen). An S with quick charge package is essentially the same price as the base SV. I sprung for the Technology and All Weather packages (both of which I highly recommend but not really “needs”). Nissan still has to figure out the right pricing for the Plus model since that is a tough sell against the Model 3 given the price increase over the standard Leaf, but the 40kw Leaf is an amazing value. No gas, no maintenance, no brainer!

Just purchased a 2019 Nissan Leaf SV, gun metallic trim, and I absolutely love the car. I don’t like to get out of the car, which explains how much I love it. I love the fact that you hear nothing when you push the button to start the electric motor. The ride is very smooth and enjoyable. If someone is willing to pay from $32,000 to $40,000 for a car, the Leaf is an absolute no brained!! In New York State, you get a $2,000 rebate off the price, a $7,500 federal tax credit, and can use HOV Lanes in Long Island, and easily charge it at home or a plethora of charging stations. Most importantly, the car will help to reduce global warming. It makes no sense to get a different car in that price range, in my opinion.

Great EV for Us

We have driven the Leaf EV+ for a year and like everything about it. Great features and electric drivers seat . This is the only car I could find that had an electric seat. I have only purchased about 30 gallons of gas in the last year for my other car. I am a larger person, and the Leaf has plenty of room for me to drive in comfort. The Lear is easy for my wife to enter and exit and she likes to drive this car every time she needs to go someplace. We are older and seldom drive over 50 miles and never fear running out of charge. Perfect for every day driving.

Happy with our Plus

Ian, 09/22/2021

Love the relatively long range (compared to our 24kWh LEAF), great acceleration from the Plus model with increased horsepower, as well as the quality interior, ride quality, and spacious trunk. I use the adaptive cruise a lot of the time on highway driving - very happy to have it. That was a big reason I passed on the Bolt EV while I was shopping. Now that the Bolt is having all its batteries recalled, I am even more content with my choice of picking the LEAF. I think this makes for a great EV if you are in a non-desert climate. Pacific NW, midwest or northeast parts of the country are all great candidates. Pass if you are in Texas, CA, AZ, NM, Florida, etc as the heat is not kind to these air-cooled packs. I expect here we will keep our 12 bars until 150k miles, as our 24 kWh lasted 60k miles with 12 bars, and this battery is about three times as large. Only 8k miles so far, so many years of worry free driving ahead!

I enjoy driving my Leaf and not worrying what the gas prices are going to be. I just plug it in at night in my garage and it is ready to go the next day, The best that I have gotten on a charge is 188 miles. Warmer weather seems to get better mileage. I also like the acceleration. I have made many a believer in my electric car's acceleration coming off of a stop light. I would like to see a 4 wheel drive version with a larger battery. Maybe something to compete with a Tesla? After driving my Leaf for about two years I am still enjoying it. I see the have come out with a bigger battery with the new models. I think Nissan should let people with the smaller batteries trade them in for the larger ones and not charge them an arm and leg for it. They need to get the cost down on the new Leaf. You can buy other electrics cheaper and not much more for a Tesla.I can see Leaf sales going down. They still need to work on a 4 wheel drive.

Great car with peppy acceleration but just know it has mandatory sounds. Both forward and reverse “warning” sounds cannot be turned off. Otherwise a very nice car. After driving the Leaf for 1 year - a fun car to drive, peppy acceleration, responsive steering, and solid road feel. However, I HATE the loud beeping sound while reversing. Extremely annoying sound and too loud!

Don’t expect much and it will not disappoint you. Pro: Range is somewhat ok, especially if you have the PLUS model. The higher trim will get you more goodies and there’s enough room for both front and back passengers, as well as a decent size trunk similar to a small suv. Typical EV pros: torquey, quiet, low maintenance, etc. Con: Awfully slow and outdated infotainment system that gives errors quite often, it takes forever to get anything done, if you could navigate to the correct menu at all. Handling is awful, brake feel is… wait, there isn’t any brake feel, that thing is ridiculous. One pedal drive isn’t for everyone, it does more harm than good in my opinion. The build feels cheap(well it is a cheap car tho), quality is lacking that you will find quite some imperfections through out the body and trims. Bottom line, it is something get you from point A to point B, don’t expect anything else.

Nissan has been at it for over 11 years and have perfected the vehicle. We have owned a 2013 and now this 2020. Amazing cars. Friends that own Chevy Bolt, Tesla 3, and Ford Mach-E are all having repairs and recalls. The LEAF is completely trouble-free. One of the lowest-risk to own EV's The LEAF, however, has a major weakness. The Traction Battery is not cooled so when you quick-charge the Car, the Battery gets hot reducing its life. The other issue is for quick-charging, the charge port is Chademo which is obsolete. Our 2020 LEAF lost over 8% of the Battery capacity in just 10,400 miles. This is the reason we sold the Car.

A lightly used Leaf is the best deal in town. Negotiate with the dealer and then with the Inflation Reduction Act, if you make under $150,000, you can take another $4,000 off the top of the price. Really hard to beat!

This car has met, if not exceeded, my expectations. Bought it for the commute to/from work so the 150 mile range works for me. Easy to set up charging at home. The SL has all the safety features such as 360 camera and side mirror warning. Also comes with different “modes” like eco and e-pedal (similar to a golf cart that slows quickly when you lift foot from gas pedal). Very happy with my purchase.

Don't get me wrong, if you live in a city where your commute is short and you can get from point A to point B and then to C in a zip (and you don't go out much or often). This car is just right for that. But if you want to get literally anywhere decently far, save yourself a whole lotta money and a whole lotta headache, and get a hybrid. The mileage to charging time ratio is like 1:12. You cannot drive for more than an hour and 20 minutes straight without having to sit at a plug for 8 WHOLE HOURS. And that's if you live in a city with a susceptible amount of chargers around. If you live anywhere rural, you are really screwed. And the headache of finding a charger that works, not to mention all the apps you gotta download whenever you find some obscure charging station. I'm gonna be kicking myself for as long as I have this lease. It feels like I'm driving a toy car. I could have gotten a cheap prius and all of my problems would be gone. Good mileage, no sitting at chargers for hours, and the ability to get to point ABCDEF... and so on and so forth without the headsplitting search for a charger. Take it from some naive 19 yr old who just made the mistake of financing this little tikes mobile. If you wanna save some money from gas, but still be able to drive a reliable vehicle. Avert your eyes away from this adult sized RC car, and get a hybrid.

It doesn't even deserve a 1 star. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone. Of course there is no engine noise, but the road noise is terrible. Also your battery usage pays for the get up and go, I would equal the battery usage to a 8 cylinder gasoline engine. Don't ever leave home without at least a 98% battery charge because my city (a very large metropolitan city) does not have enough charging stations, and forget the quick charging stations they are no where to be found. At .35 per minute they add up. You are much better to stick with a gasoline engine.

I bought a used 2019 Leaf SV Plus from a Subaru dealer in early 2020 that had 7,800 miles on it. I enjoy driving past all the gas stations in my area; I only need to visit them, when I need to add air to the tires! I have 32,000 miles on it as of 6/1/24 and so far my only expenses have been a new cabin air filter, 2 tires and a new battery (not the 'big' batteries - it actually has a regular battery too, which set me back about $145 + labor cost at the dealer). LIKES? No gas fuel bill Not a noticeable increase in my home electric bill Very quick acceleration when I need it, Ride is fairly comfy except driver's seat bottom cushion shape and width make driving with my wallet in my back pocket uncomfortable: I am 5'10", 195 lbs., have a medium small-sized derriere and no 'love handles'. Split back seat folds down most of the way flat, allowing carrying longer objects & luggage when needed. Adults don't complain about riding in the back seat. Neither does my son's 3 year old, 150 lb. Rottweiler... LESS LIKEABLES? - FUNCTION CONTROLS on LCD panel are mostly decipherable, but manipulating them while driving is still not optimally safe - We get 150-200 miles per charge unless using heat or AC, which affect mileage negatively. - Tires seem to wear sooner and are more expensive than regular passenger car tires - Batteries re-charge time using standard household 110v AC current is LOOOOONG - sometimes 36 hours for a full charge. Since we also have 2 other gas-powered vehicles between us, it's mostly only a minor issue RANGE - I don't like to travel more than 140 miles per trip, mostly because a. the public Rapid-charge stations network is not frequent enough b. Too many of the chargers at those stations are inoperable or broken, or they want >$15 for a rapid charge-up. - COST OF HOME LEVEL 2 CHARGING add-ons: my new house was built with a Level 2 charging outlet in the garage, but the required converter + cable will be an additional $1,000. - Advanced Driver Assist functionality of forward & side scanning radar has stopped working twice in mildly rainy overcast weather - NO fog. I assume that the combo of rainy roads and grey overcast confuse the forward seeing function enough to shut that down? The car still drives safely, though. It displays the same amber warning light as when roads are getting icy and traction control is less than optimal - BACKUP CAMERA has low disappointingly low-res screen, - BACKUP CAMERA is badly positioned/not shielded from weather. Whenever it rains, the - backup camera's lens is badly obscured - almost unusable. - DASHBOARD LCD PANEL needs MUCH better anti-glare coating. It's almost un-usable/illegible when bright sunshine reflects on it. OVERALL? When this one needs replacement, I will buy another EV, maybe even another Leaf, but I WON'T spend >$45,000. And when next I replace one of our gas-powered vehicles I will buy a hybrid or plug-in hybrid.
